Disclaimer- Everything belongs to J.K. Rowling and is not mine, however much I might wish differently. However, I am not making any money off of this, so please do not sue me!
Author's Notes- This is just a short, reflective Harry/Hermione piece that takes place after "Goblet of Fire". It's short and silly, and basically meaningless. Well, that's all, enjoy!
Summery- She looked into her heart and saw the love that had always been there.
Pairing- Harry/Hermione.
Spoilers- Up to "Goblet of Fire".
Rating- PG
Hermione went to Bulgaria.
She had thought about it for a long time, pondered her decision, and finally, she made it.
She would go to Bulgaria. Maybe then she'd be able to clear her mind about what she really wanted.
And it did.
The summer was a wonderful experience and she had a great time. Viktor was really very sweet.
But she didn't love him.
Still, her time with him, away from England and her friends, made her understand the true desires of her heart.
It wasn't Ron, she missed desperately.
She had thought that she would. She had spent the last year convinced she had romantic feelings for Ron.
Now she knew differently.
Ron was just a cover. He wasn't the one that she wanted.
It was Harry.
It had always been Harry. He was the center of her world.
Not that she didn't appreciate Ron, she did, but...
Harry was special.
The problem was, she didn't want to risk losing his friendship just to have a romantic relationship with him.
She didn't think it would be worth it.
At least this way she would always have Harry in her life. And she couldn't live without that.
She didn't even want to try.
So, because of that, she would stay his friend. Nothing else.
Or at least that's what she intended.
She didn't intend for an accidental kiss to be shared the night of the Halloween Feast. She didn't intend for Harry to confess that he had feelings for her.
Before she knew it, she was voicing her own feelings.
Harry gathered to him in that moment and in a low voice asked about Viktor. She explained they they were just friends, that she had gone to Bulgaria to clear her mind.
Harry had smiled and kissed her again.
And that was the moment all her resolve flew out the window.
But that was okay. Because she had what she truly wanted.
She had Harry.
Her only worry was what Ron would say.
But to her surprise, and everlasting gratitude, he was perfectly okay with it. His exact response was, "what took you guys so long?"
So all was well.
Except there was one thing Hermione had left to do. She had to tell Viktor that she was sorry, btu that she was in love with Harry.
It was the hardest letter she had ever had to write, as she had been genuinely fond of Viktor. He just wasn't the one that she loved.
He took it well, wished her and Harry all the happiness in the world. Apparently, he too realized that they were not meant to be.
Hermione read his letter with a smile, glad that he wasn't too hurt. And that everything had worked out.
She was grateful that she had met Viktor and had gone to Bulgaria, because if she hadn't, she might never have realized what she wanted and where she was meant to be.
And she was positive that loving Harry was her destiny.
The End
