New Beginnings
By Misha

Disclaimer- Everything belongs to J.K. Rowling and is not mine, however much I might wish differently. However, I am not making any money off of this, so please do not sue me!

Author's Notes- This is just a short, sweet Harry/Ginny piece. I'm not a big fan of the couple, since I prefer Harry/Hermione and Harry/Draco, but... Well, I decided I should write at least one sweet, sappy piece for them. I'm trying to cover every couple imaginable and I'm getting there. I have a wide selection. Well, that's all, enjoy!

Pairing- Harry/Ginny, a little bit of Harry/Hermione.

Summery- It was perfect and sweet, it was the beginning of something new for them both.

Rating- PG

I look up at the sound of footsteps. I felt a gentle touch on my shoulder and turned around.

"Ginny." I said softly, a little surprised to see her there.

"Are you all right?" She asked me softly.

I nodded. "Yeah."

"You left the Great Hall in a hurry." She commented.

"I guess, it unnerved me a bit." I confessed. "I wasn't expecting a big speech."

"Well, the war with Voldemort did end a year ago today." She reminded me softly. "It's a big deal."

"It should have come sooner." I said softly, bitterly. "Before so many people died."

Ginny was quiet. "It still hurts doesn't it? Hermione's death, I mean."

I pause for a moment.

"It'll always hurt." I say simply. "But it no longer cripples me, if that's what you mean. It's been over a year, I've actually been learning to let go. Oh, I'll always miss her and I'll always think her death was a waste, but that's life."

Ginny didn't say anything.

"She was so young." She said finally. "It doesn't seem fair."

"No," I agreed, "it doesn't. But, unfortunately, that's life."

"I just wanted to make sure you were okay." Ginny said after a moment.

"Thanks." I told her with a soft smile.

She smiled in return and turned to go.

Suddenly, I reached out and grabbed her arm. "Could you stay a little bit longer?" I asked her.

"As long as you need me." She told me gently.

I looked into her face and for the first time, I really saw her. I saw her as more than Ron's little sister, more than just Ginny.

I saw the beauty of her face, the concern in her eyes, the gentleness of her smile. I saw what had been there all along.

I knew that Ginny had once had a crush on me, though I assumed that she had gotten over it long ago.

Before, I could stop myself, I leaned over and kissed her.

I could feel Ginny's surprise, but instead of pulling away, after a moment she leaned into me as the kiss deepened.

The kiss went on for a long moment before we both pulled away.

"What was that for?" She asked me, softly, hesitantly.

"Because I wanted to." I told her gently, looking into her eyes.

"Not as a replacement for her?" Ginny asked seriously.

"Never." I assured her. "I wouldn't do that to you. I kissed you, Ginny, because I wanted to."

Ginny smiled. "Would you do it again?"

I raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"Would you please kiss me again?" She requested. "I've waited so long for this moment and well, before there were a million thoughts running through my head. I want to enjoy it."

"Okay." I said with a smile, pulling her towards me.

Our lips met for a second time. This kiss was sweet and tender.

When the kiss ended, Ginny and I just stood there, looking into each other's eyes. Neither of us knew where this lead, but it would go somewhere.

We had our beginning.

The End
