Hardly Matters

She knew it wasn't her fault. That there was nothing she could do to make it any better. She'd done the right thing and had done it as best she could. No one had any right to expect any more from her.
Yuna knew it all and often repeated it to herself when she was alone. She still felt that she had to say she was sorry. To apologize for not doing better, for not dying.
The long train of refugees snaked through the forest as far as she could see. Men, women, and children of all ages walked by in their torn and stained clothes. None of them spoke as they walked and the day was eerily quiet. Each one fixed their gazes grimly ahead and followed the person in front of them.
None of them saw the young woman sitting under a tree to the side of the path, or if they did they simply didn't care enough.
"Theres so many of them," Yuna couldn't tear her gaze away from the wretched line. A group of children was led by an older girl. The children were crying softly, and the hurt ones were carried by older children. "Will we be able to help them all?"
"I don't know Lady Yuna," Yuna turned at the sigh. Captain Gatta watched the line grimly. The Crusader shook his head before kneeling next to her. "Honestly we don't have enough supplies to help more than half of them. We can take the ones that are hurt, but the others will have to be sent further on."
"They've already gone so far," she felt tired. soon she would have to go back to try to help with the wounded, and talk to the band's leaders. Then she would have to take care of other business. She wasn't a leader, but so many looked to her for guidance. "We should head back now. There is going to be a lot to do."
"There always is," Gatta smiled and helped Yuna to her feet before leaving to get the Chocobos.
It was going to be another long night with no sleep for her. Yuna was grateful she had people like Gatta to help her through it.
"Wark?" Yuna stumbled slightly as her mount playfully butted its head into her back. The bird cocked its head curiously and ruffled its feathers.
"Right," the summoner laughed softly as she mounted. Gatta patiently waited a few feet away. Petting the smooth yellow feathers she looked back at the refugees. "I just can't understand why humans can cause more damage than Sin."
