Author's Note: The song Just For by Nickelback, was on at the time and I was inspired to right this songfic. It's about a certain special someone in Gau's heart who gets hurt by another, and Gau wants revenge on her behalf. Just For

Gau sat in the waiting room of the little clinic that had been built in Thamasa a few months ago. He was waiting with Strago who was waiting for Relm to come out of her appointment. They both were really worried about her. Gau was a very good friend of her's. Though, he was much too shy to say anything, he always wanted to be more to her than a friend.

"I hope she didn't get herself pregnant! I hope to the Gods she didn't!" Strago kept saying constantly.

"Strago, she might be. It's not that much big of a deal. It wasn't even her fault. The guy raped her. How can anyone blame her for that?" Gau tried desperately to protect Relm's reputation.

"That doesn't matter Gau! If anyone in town finds out about this, they'll throw her out! The tradition in this town is that you do not become a mother until you're at least eighteen! The tradition for marriage is sixteen and up!" Strago started babbling about all of the stupid traditions that shouldn't be.

All Gau could think of was Relm. She had been in a terrible state when he had seen her. He hadn't seen the guy responsible for this, but when he did, Gau would teach him a lesson. A lesson just for Relm.

An hour later, the doors opened to reveal a pale Relm. She didn't look well at all and Gau got up immediately to assist her in anyway he could.

"Well? Well? What happened? What's the news?" was all Strago could manage. Gau was the only one who seemed to care more about Relm's health rather than if she was pregnant or not.

"I...I..." was all Relm could mutter before her knees buckled.

"Whoa!" Gau said as he caught her in his arms and lifted her up. "She needs rest, let's get her back to the house."

As they left the clinic, Relm managed to get her eyes open long enough to see the guy responsible staring at her. Relm broke into tears at the sight of just pure hate and anger.

Gau could tell Relm had seen the guy and he went looking around and spotted a guy staring at the lady in his arms. If he wasn't holding Relm, he would've stabbed the bastards eyes with forks so he couldn't torment Relm with his eagle eyes.

Gau could not put into to words how much he wanted to rip the man limb from limb just for touching his beloved picture girl. He hated this man more than anything he could muster hate or disliking on. Even the Gods themselves would not be able to interpret how much Gau wanted to gut this guy like a fish and watch him cry out in agony, like Relm must've when he raped her.

Gau laid Relm down in her bedroom on her bed. He watched her sleep and rubbed a warm cloth over her forehead. He would've sat with her every second of the whole time if there hadn't been dinner to get and nature calling.

When Relm woke up, she looked a bit fuller in color, Gau was glad for at least that. "Hey there, lovely. How are we feeling today?" Gau smiled and hugged his friend.

"Miserably sick and upset..." Relm said and tried to sit up.

"Not too fast, you just woke up," Gau said to her cautiously.

Relm sighed and leaned back on her pillows. "I hate myself..."

"No, don't hate yourself. You, yourself, are beautiful. I don't love you any less because of this and you shouldn't either," Gau said to her.

Relm broke into tears then. "I can't believe that bastard got to me. He attacked me, fucked me! Then he got me pregnant! I hate him! I want him to die!" Relm screamed as tears soaked into Gau's shirt.

"If you want that, then I'd only be too glad to do it for you..." Gau said, not meaning for her to hear it or even say it out loud.

"Wh-what? Gau? I never heard you talk like that before..." Relm said in amazement.

"I'm sorry...I just...I want to make him pay for what he done to you. Ten times worse than what he done to you!" Gau said as he tried to vent his anger.

"Don't keep it to yourself, tell me," Relm said to him.

"Are you sure you even wanna know?" Gau asked her.

"Tell me. You need to do something to get it out," Relm said to him.

"I want to stab his eyes out so he can't taunt you with his damn staring! I want to rip his arms off so he can't touch another woman in that way! I want to rip his insides out and hang them on the wall to make him look at them all day! I want to step on his heart and squash it like he did to yours! I want to stab his mind and break it into a million different pieces! I want him to feel something ten times as worse as what he made you feel. I want to make him scream louder than what he made you scream! I want him to cry more than what you could ever cry over what he done to you! I...I want to kill him for you..." Gau finished finally.

After that, he looked up at Relm slowly, who could only smile. She hugged him and thanked him for wanting to do those things for her. She really appreciated how much he cared. She just didn't know how much he really did care. One day, he would tell her.

"Let's go for a walk," Relm suggested.

"Whatever you want," Gau smiled.

Gau helped Relm get ready to go outside for an evening walk. All three of them knew that Relm may get kicked out of Thamasa. Gau was hoping he could get up the courage to ask her if she would consider staying with him and Sabin. He wanted to have a relationship with Relm. He would do anything it took to make her see how much he really did care.

As they walked out through the streets of Thamasa, they talked about the war with Kefka, which had ended about four years ago. Relm was going to be a teenage mom. She was only fifteen. Gau wanted to be the adoptive father if Relm would allow it. He didn't care that the baby was not his. He couldn't blame Relm for what had happened. The baby was innocent in this also.

As they walked along, they came across that short red haired bastard again. The one with the glaring eyes. Gau could see almost instantly that he was bothering her. "What's his name?"

"His name is James..." Relm answered Gau's question and then suddenly figured she knew what was going to happen.

"He's bothering you, isn't he?" Gau asked as anger flared in his eyes and turned them red with rage.

"Gau...no..." Relm said to him with fear.

"Yes he is."

"OK, he is, but Gau please. Don't do anything stupid! Please, keep your anger under control. I don't want to lose you," Relm said to him.

"Don't worry, I promise. As much as I want to make that bastard regret ever meeting you, and make him take back what he took from you, for example, your freedom, I won't do anything, I promise," Gau reassured her.

"Then, what are you going to do?" Relm asked him.

"We're just going to have a little talk..." Gau said before walking over to the gentleman staring at Relm.

"Hi, there. You must be the pretty Lady Relm's friend. Nice to meet you," the man said to Gau as if Relm and him were engaged and to be married.

"Just what is your problem?" Gau asked accusingly.

"What do you mean? I have no problem! Isn't it great news about her pregnancy? I hear she's ecstatic!" the man shot out at Gau as if to brag about his latest victim. That's where Gau got ticked off and slammed the slime to the wall.

"You think just because you got her pregnant, it means that she's yours?! Well let me tell you something shit for brains! She is not and never will be yours! You leave her the fuck alone or else!" Gau spat at him angrily.

"Or else what?" the man said bluntly and without fear.

At this, Gau laughed an evil sounding laugh. "Let me tell you something you dirty bastard! You have no idea how much I want to take a knife and slit your body in half! You know what I'd do then if it weren't for Relm's feelings? I'd take out all your insides and hang them on my god damn wall for the rest of you to look at until you bleed to death! You know, if it weren't for Relm, I would've came over hear and kicked the shit outta you until you died of broken bones! Well, thanks to your latest victim you're going to live a longer fucking life!" Gau spat at him with such brutal anger, that he almost choked the man by holding him up by the shirt to the wall.

"Hey...chill OK? I didn't mean to hurt her!" the man said desperately.

"You didn't mean to hurt her!? Look at her! You look at her!" Gau yelled at him. The man looked at her. "She cries every night BECAUSE of what you did to her! You hurt her so much that she may even be traumatized for life! You marred her beautiful body! And for what!? Why did you do it you low-life bastard!?" Gau screamed at the man.

"For my own pleasure!" the man squeaked in fear.

"Yes, for your own fucking pleasure! Now, is that fair to her! IS IT!?" Gau shouted at him.

"No...I'm so sorry...just please...put me down..." the man pleaded.

"I should kill you right now for what you done to her! But you know what?...You're too pathetic to kill..." Gau said and threw the man to the ground.

The man cowered in a corner. "Now, you're gonna do something as pay back for Relm," Gau said to him.

"Wh-what? What can I do for her?" the man squeaked.

"You can give her half of the money you have so she'll have something to live on until she can take care of herself," Gau said sternly.

"Sure! Whatever you want man! Take it all! Please! Just don't kill or hurt me!" the man said as he passed Gau the money with a quivering hand. Gau snatched the money and left the man to cower in the dirt, like the scum he was.

Gau went back to Relm and smiled. "The bastard won't be bothering you anymore."

"What did you do?" Relm asked him.

"We had a little talk about your problems with money and he agreed to give you some in payment for what he did," Gau said to her and handed her the two hundred thousand bucks the rat had.

"What!? This much!? I don't believe it!" Relm said.

"He begged me to take it. He felt that guilty for what he did," Gau said to her. It wasn't exactly lying either.

"You're a life saver!" Relm said happily.

"I hope I can be a lover too..." Gau said quietly.

Relm turned around almost sure of what he said. "What? Gau, did you say you wanted to be my lover?"

Gau blushed and looked away for a moment. "I love you...I have ever since two years ago..."

All Relm could do was smile as she heard this. "I...I love you too...I have now for about the same amount of time..."

"What!? You never said anything!" Gau whined.

Relm laughed. "I didn't think you'd feel the same way..."

"Well, I think now it's safe to say that you'll be staying with me and Sabin?" Gau asked hopefully.

Relm smiled and kissed him for the first time. "Yes...I guess it is safe to say that."
