Well I'm back! I hope you like this story. The song is Dream of me from the movie Get Over It.

Dream of Me

Evening had fallen in Rivendell creating a soft white glow in the city. The feeling that one got in Rivendell was like walking into a fairytale where, for a moment, everything was right. Soft winds, gentle and warm, floated through the trees brushing across the porcline like face of the blond prince as he walked a stone path through Imalrids. The evening was perfect in everyway, and a feeling of pure magic blanketed the city. Legolas was in love with Rivendell, and everything about it excited him. He loved just to be by himself in the winter months, sometimes walking throughout the city where he would pause on a stone walkway that bridged over the particularly crystal waters of Rivendell. But this visit to Rivendell was causing him such pain, so unbearable at times that felt as though his heart would break. The cause of his pain was the hope of men whom, that evening, sat beside his future queen, the beautiful Evenstar.
~*~Let me sleep For when I sleep I dream that you're here You're mine and all my fears are left behind~*~
As the young prince of Mirkwood watched the pair, his silent tears fell down the pale cheeks before joining the running waters of a clear stream that ran beneath him. An elegant hand came up to rest above his heart that had, once again, begun to pain him. Without thinking the prince ran blindly from the hiding place pushing away his tears furiously. He knew that the only time he and Estel would ever be together would be in his dreams.
~*~I float on air the nightingale sings gentle lullabies So let me close my eyes~*~
Estel sat in the company of the Evenstar once again, yet wishing that the one he was sitting with was the fair prince. The evening was truly magical, an evening he wished to share with his close friend. Soft whiffs of cloud floated gently across the sky and diamond like stars dotted the inky black of the night sky. How the evening reminded him of fair Legolas, so beautiful and yet so fragile. Estel wishing to find the prince, excused himself from the beautiful maiden and set off down the same stone path which Legolas had been walking earlier. The moons soft light cast a surreal glow around the king as he walked the path, marveling at the beauty of Rivendell. This had been his home since he was two yet he had never seen it so beautiful, so alive, so magical. He walked the paths slowly following as it intertwined in the silvery trees of Rivendell. He need not be mindful of where he walked for the moons glow was so radiant it lit the path like a lantern. However his attempts at finding Legolas were unsuccessful. He knew the young prince would not be with the guests in the hall for he despised crowds and loud noise.
~*~And sleep a chance to dream So I can see the face I long to touch, to kiss But only dreams can bring me this~*~
Legolas, who was perched gracefully in one of the trees, watched as Estel passed under his hiding place. He was well aware of the fact that Estel was looking for him, yet he could not bring himself to come out from his hiding place. He did not wish Estel to see his tear stained face, the silvery trails intertwined upon his pale face. It was Estel' nature to ask what troubled him, yet he could not say, indeed he must never say for Estel would not understand. Why would he want legolas when the Evenstar was already his? No, Estel must not know. Legolas sat perfectly still as he watched the fair maiden catch up with Estel and as they linked arms, continuing on down the path.
~*~So let the moon shine softly on the boy I long to see And maybe when he dreams he'll dream of me~*~
Estel had retired to his room and was standing on the balcony that overlooked the most beautiful of all scenes. His view of Rivendell was the most beautiful in all of the household. Elrond had placed a young Estel in his room for it was so much more peaceful and serine and overlooked the beautiful falls and pools of Rivendell, for Estel had, had trouble with sleeping at the tender age of five and Elrond had noticed how relaxed Estel felt in that particular room. He couldn't blame the child, it was indeed a beautiful place and now 20 years later Estel still marveled at its beauty. How he had wanted to show Legolas this, for he knew how much he would have appreciated it. The moons light danced over the pools and intertwined with the falls. Why did Legolas hide so? Estel wished more than anything that his marriage to the Evenstar was preventable but the way Legolas avoided him were more powerful that the words he could have spoken. It was quite obvious that the feelings would never be returned, it was too complicated.
~*~I hide beneath the clouds That whisper to the evening star Tell me that he's just a dream away, dream away A dream away~*~
Legolas landed lightly on the leaf carpeted ground. He ran through the trees until he found the one place he desired to be. A small hillock carpeted in frost covered grass was particularly beautiful that evening as the moons light turned the grass silver. Making his way slowly to the top he lay down on his back looking up at the evening star. He wished to fall asleep where in his dreams he was with Estel, they were happy and everything that was wrong was suddenly right because he was in Estel' arms. But his dreams were never going to be reality and staying in Rivendell was too painful. He knew that staying here was just breaking his heart.
~*~So let the moon shine softly on the boy I long to see And maybe when he dreams, he'll dream of me~*~
Estel watched from the balcony as Legolas sped his horse out of Rivendell. Brushing away the tears that ran down his face Estel turned his silvery eyes on his father who saw the pain in his son's face, in his eyes. Why must the two cause on another such pain? But Estel knew of legolas' feelings, deep down he knew he just wouldn't admit it and he put duty above love. As legolas sped from Rivendell Estel whispered into the evening breeze "Dream of me legolas for you will always be in mine"
~*~Oh... dream of me~*~

Im sorry my formatting sucks. When I tried to download it with formatting it spread it across the page. If anyone knows how to fix it please tell me because this would be so much better with formatting. If you have this song I would strongly recommend you listen to it while you read. It helps me to visualize. Hope you like this story. Sorry no happy end
