Angel of Light: This is the last chapter in this story. Like I said before, it’s gotten way far away from what I had originally intended. Anyways, I don’t think I’ll finish ‘Trading Spaces’ either…..
Cody: Like they care.
Angel of Light: I just thought that there might be at least one person who would, for your big fat information….
Cody: Well, there isn’t. Live with it.
Angel of Light: You’re such a great friend, Cody.
Hikari’s eyes widened as the tip pierced her flesh. She had never felt so much pain in her entire life. She collapsed to the ground, but caught herself. With her hands bracing her upper body, she lay on the ground, in shock. The girl’s breathing was laboured, and her mind was spinning.
Takeru looked at the girl on the ground, eyes also wide with shock. He couldn’t believe what she had just done. After all that he’d done to her, she goes and does this. She risked her life for him.
At that moment, a cloud lifted. The shadows no longer had control over him, as he could see the truth. The ones who really cared for him, were the ones that were suffering for him. Yes, they had hurt him, but he realized now that he had overreacted. He could have moved on. It wasn’t entirely her fault, she didn’t know. She didn’t know that he loved her with everything that he had. She had hurt him, but she had also been truly sorry. He realized his fault at that moment, but maybe, a little too late.
Daemon laughed at the sight of them.
“Things couldn’t get any better!” He bellowed. “Now all I have to do is get rid of you, boy, and everything is complete! You fell right into my trap! You insolent little fool, you were so stupid, like a chess piece on my board! So easy to manipulate-”
Daemon rambled on like this longer, but Takeru heard no more of it. The rage was building in his mind. It was a rage that had needed to come out for a long time. It wasn’t just this, but the anger that he felt towards all darkness, from Devimon to Myotismon, to the dark masters, and everything else in between. He turned and faced the undersea master.
“You’ll pay for this”, he threatened.
Daemon stopped his ramblings, and began to laugh at him, “What? Did I actually hear you say that you would make me pay? I must be hearing things! You are worthless! You can’t do anything! Just look at what happened to the girl because of you. She is hurt, and might not survive, all because of the decisions that you’ve made. She’ll never forgive you.”
Takeru was taken aback by these things. They were true. She was hurt because of him, and what he had done. How could he live with himself if anything happens?
A small voice behind him interrupted his thoughts.
“Takeru…T.K….Don’t listen to a thing he says. He doesn’t know you, he doesn’t know me. Heck, he doesn’t know anything. We’ve all made our mistakes in life, and we all need to move on. For every action, there is a consequence. Sometimes, the consequence isn’t at all good, but you have to learn to live with it. There is more than one guilty party here, Takeru, and I know I’m one of them. I’m sorry I hurt you. I had no right. I should have paid more attention to things, I was so naïve and oblivious. Takaishi Takeru, I love you more than anything in this whole world, and any other world for that matter. I guess I thought I was in love with Willis because he is so much like you. I really don’t know how I mixed you both up, but I did, and it was stupid. Don’t let him get you down.”
Takeru looked at her for a moment, letting it all sink in. He nodded slightly, and a small smile found its way to his lips, and to hers as well.
With newfound hope, he turned back to the dark master.
Patamon, though still weak, flew to his partner’s side. Takeru smiled at him, and the little digimon smiled back. No words needed to be spoken, as they both knew what needed to be done. A blinding flash of light filled the area, and Patamon digivolved to Angemon. Also, the boy’s crest was now back to its normal bright yellow. The crest of Hope.
Angemon soared into the sky, his rod out and ready to attack.
“Get ‘em Angemon!” T.K. shouted.
“Hand of Fate!” He yelled. The attack hit its target perfectly.
Daemon was slightly shaken by the power of the attack. It didn’t faze him much, but it was more than he had expected. He wasn’t about to tell them that, though. He knew that there was no way they could win. He would overpower them eventually.
The battle brewed on. Shots were sent back and forth, some hitting, some not. After a while, Angemon began to tire. He couldn’t handle the constant poundings of Daemon. He was just too powerful. All odds were against them, too. For one thing, Daemon wasn’t as tired out. The second thing, was that he was a whole two levels above him. Though Angemon was exceptionally strong for a champion levelled digimon, he was no match for one of a mega level.
With one last blow, Angemon was sent crashing to the ground.
“Angemon!” T.K. screamed as he ran over. The angel digimon was laying still. He looked horrible. His hair was a mess, and his clothes were torn. He had cuts and bruises all over his body.
“Angemon, Angemon! Wake up!”
Daemon laughed at them. “Now I can destroy you all!”
Takeru felt tears well up in his eyes, and made no effort to stop them. “Oh Angemon, I’m so sorry! I’m sorry for what I’ve done, for what I’ve caused. You didn’t need to be caught up in this, please, forgive me. I’m so sorry, all of you. I am so sorry! Hikari, I’m sorry for putting you through this!” He threw himself on the digimon, and wrapped his arms around him, crying like a lost little boy. No longer was he the free-spirited fifteen year old that he had become, but he was once again the helpless little eight year old.
At that moment, his crest began to glow. Not just his, but Hikari’s as well. The lights rose to the sky, intertwining with each other. At the top, they exploded, resulting in another, but much more blinding flash of light.
“Argh!” yelled Daemon while shielding his eyes.
Angemon and Angewomon rose into the sky. The two children watched with awe. Both digimon’s health was restored. Not only this, but Angemon digivolved once more. He was now Magnaangemon.
Angewomon and Magnaangemon turned to the Undersea Master, who was now beginning to tremble with fear. The light had weakened him, and now two super powered digimon were coming for him.
The two digimon flew at him, ready to strike. Angewomon readied her arrow, and Magnaangemon flew forward with Excalibur out. Hope, Light, and Darkness collided. A loud crash was heard, and digimon flew in all directions. Magnaangemon steadied himself, and poised himself for the final stage.
“Gate of Destiny” He drew a circle in the sky with the sword in his wrist. A spinning, golden gate appeared, then opened. A vacuum was created, sucking in all that was darkness. Scubamon and divermon clung desperately to trees and rocks, but their efforts were futile. Daemon himself was slowly being pulled in. He dug into the ground with his claws, but the powerful suction of the gate was too much for him. He too, was pulled in.
At last, the gate closed. It appeared spinning once more, then slowly faded away into nothing. Magnaangemon, tired and weary, fell to the ground. Angewomon did the same.
Takeru smiled happily. It was over. But his celebrations were short lived, as he remembered.
“Kari!” He screamed as he ran over to her.
The girl was still lying on the ground, but had no longer the strength to hold herself up. She was still conscious, but fading quickly. The spear stuck out her side, blood slowly trickling from the wound.
The boy ran over and cradled her head in his arms.
“Kari, Kari! Are you alright?”
The child of light smiled up at him. “I’m going to be fine, Takeru.”
He smiled, and hugged her, but she broke into a coughing fit.
“Y-you said that you would be okay….” he said accusingly.
“And I will.” Her voice was weak, and at a whisper. “Don’t give up your hope, Takeru. Don’t give up the dreams, don’t let the light fade.”
“W-what are you saying?”
“Takeru, this blow…it’s too much for my body to handle…I won’t last much longer. Don’t blame yourself, it was my fault. Please, don’t go home and sulk, or wallow in self-pity. You have to keep strong. I’ll always be watching you, and I’ll always be there for you.”
“B-but you s-said you b-be okay…” he was starting to sob.
Tears were forming in her eyes as well, “I will. I just won’t be here.”
“Please, no! I love you, you can’t leave!” he pleaded.
“Takeru, I’m in so much pain. The doctors won’t be able to help. I love you more than anything, and don’t forget that. Go and live life like it’s supposed to be lived; to the fullest. It would hurt me so much if you wasted your time thinking of what could have been. It’s what won’t be, and everyone will just have to deal with it.”
He couldn’t reply. Instead, be lifted her up, and buried his head into her shoulder. “I am so sorry.”
“I know. Me too.”
He pulled away, and looked at her in the eyes. Their faces seemed to be magnetized, as they drew closer. Takeru leaned down, and their lips connected. He kissed with all the passion that was within him.
They parted, and she smiled at him. “I love you, Takeru.”
With those last words, her eyes closed, and she fell limp. There was a peace on her face, a peace that made Takeru know that everything was going to be alright. Still, it hurt. He sobbed once again into her shoulder.
Takeru looked up, as he watched Gatomon limping up the hill. He didn’t have to tell her what was happening, for she already knew. The cat digimon stopped beside her partner. She was so weak and helpless. She was nothing without Kari. Even through this, Gatomon looked up at the boy, and she smiled. She smiled like she hadn’t in a long time.
Takeru gazed down at her, and could do nothing else but smile back. He smiled as the tears rolled down his face. Once again, he looked down to the girl in his arms. He leaned in once more, for one last kiss. She was still warm, but fading fast. He parted from her, and hugged her once more. Then, he let go.
He placed her gently down on the ground. He didn’t see a point in bringing her back. It would be too much for him, and everyone else. He stood up, and he smiled at her. He remembered the good times they had, and he thought to what he would do in the future, and he looked forward to when he would see her, the light, his light, once again.
With that, he picked up the cat digimon, and picked up his own partner as well. Reluctantly, but with newfound hope, he went back.
He stopped at the gate, and turned once more. Hikari’s body was enveloped in a pink light. Slowly, she began to fade. Then, something happened. Yet another flash covered the area. It went to the four corners of the dreary world. When it was over, Takeru looked up. Before him, was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. No longer was this the Dark Ocean, but it was a world of light.
Smiling once more, and with Gatomon and Patamon on his shoulders, he went home.
THE END
Angel of Light: K……I really need to know what you thought of this! I really don’t mind flames…well, actually more like constructive criticism. I know I screwed the story up really bad…..and I need to know just how badly…..anyways, TtFn!
