An Obscure Empty Void

Setzer leaned over his airship, the Falcon, and sighed. He had never known it would turn out this way for him. His life was great. He had caring friends, Kefka was gone, all was at peace, he was the best Gambler and a hero known, Celes and him were dating. His life was simply heaven.

"So...if my life is heaven...why is there an empty void in my soul?" Setzer asked himself, but unfortunately, did not get an answer.

"Setzer, are you alright?" Celes asked from behind him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and kissed the white haired man's neck.

Setzer used to like the feeling of that...he didn't anymore. What was going on? I wish I knew what was wrong with me...I thought I loved Celes...now...all I want to do is avoid her loving touches...

"Setzer!?" Celes shouted louder.

"Wh-what!? What is it?" Setzer turned in fright.

"You seemed a million miles away, floating in the sky somewhere...What's wrong?" Celes asked as concern coursed through the beautiful woman's veins.

"There's...nothing wrong. I'm just thinking. I can't wait to get to Figaro and see everyone. Can't wait to wipe the floor with Locke when we play a few cards either!" Setzer laughed and turned back to his old gambling self just to keep Celes from worry.

Celes smiled the sweet smile Setzer used to love so much. "Well, OK, if you're sure," Celes said as she returned downstairs again.

Setzer sighed heavier. He didn't feel that old love he had for Celes anymore. Maybe it was just a phase? Maybe if he broke up with her, maybe he would be happy and content with life again? He didn't want to hurt Celes after her heartbreak over Locke and Terra's getting married. However, he couldn't stay miserable for her sake. He knew she wouldn't want that. He'd have to tell her after they were finished having fun at the reunion.

"Setzer! As usual, you're fashionably late! I was starting to think you and your girl weren't coming," Edgar said with his widest grin.

Setzer gave a half smile and found himself admiring Edgar's smile. It seemed to suit him uncommonly well...sexy even...What the hell am I thinking? What's wrong with me!? Setzer mentally scolded himself for thinking such things. Even if he didn't love Celes anymore, he was sure he wasn't turning gay.

"Setzer? Are you feeling alright?" Edgar asked, breaking Setzer out of his thoughts.

"Oh...yeah, why?" Setzer asked, laughing.

"You seemed to space out. Well, I have to go and visit with other guests. Go enjoy yourself and don't be shy to help yourself with anything," Edgar said kindly.

As Edgar walked away, Setzer noticed himself staring at Edgar's butt. It seemed really hypnotizing, how Edgar moved it side to side...What the hell am I looking at Edgar's ass for!? Setzer mentally kicked himself and headed towards the punch table.

There, he noticed Gau and Relm. They were talking and Gau suddenly decided to give her a kiss. "Gau!" Relm blushed and hit him playfully. Gau just grinned.

Gau has a very nice smile...and his body is so well built and...Stop it! What am I doing!? Setzer hit himself in the head, turning Relm's and Gau's attention to him.

"Hi, Setzer," Relm said politely.

"Hey, long time no see," Gau said and grinned again.

"Hey, guys. How are you two?" Setzer asked, returning their smiles.

"We're fine...we got engaged a few months ago," Relm said happily and blushed a little because Gau was doing something Setzer couldn't see.

"Congratulations," Setzer said to them.

"Thank you," Relm said and Setzer noticed her smack Gau's hand away.

"Well, we're gonna head over to the food. Enjoy the punch, it's pretty good this year," Gau said before dragging Relm over to the other side of the room.

Setzer grabbed a glass and poured himself a glass of the drink in the large bowl. Locke and Terra came over to join him.

"Hey, Setzer. How are you and Celes?" Locke asked, grinning that foolish grin Terra loved oh so dearly.

"Well, Celes and I are fine in health wise. Thanks for asking. How about you and your new wife?" Setzer grinned at the two while finding himself looking down at Locke's waist level and wondering what he looked like nude. You have to stop doing that bonehead! Setzer thought to himself and concentrated on what Terra was saying.

"We're fine. I'm pregnant. On my fifth month and Locke won't let me do a thing!" Terra laughed and kissed her husband.

"Wow, that's great. Hope I get to see the toddler next year or whatever," Setzer said to them happily.

"We'll be sure to bring him or her next year," Locke said before heading on the dance floor with Terra.

The night went endlessly on like that. Setzer didn't have the slightest clue why he was fantasizing about the other guys. It just wasn't like him. Maybe he really was turning gay. However, Setzer just couldn't believe that after so many years of women...and...Darryl. His first love. How could he be gay when he was in love so many times before with women?

He had luckily managed to avoid Celes the whole night, by saying he was tired and was going to bed for the night. Actually, he wasn't the least bit tired. He stood outside on the balcony of the palace and just watched the guards bob up and down on those chocobo. He wondered if they even got lonely. Desperate for a shag even. He was completely serious on the matter. He never seen the poor brutes off duty. It's like they lived only to never sleep and sit on those damned chocobo.

What Setzer didn't noticed, was that someone was already on the balcony a bit of a distance away. That person overheard the whole conversation Setzer had with himself.

"Man, what the hell is wrong with me? An empty void growing, though I should be one of the happiest men alive...I have Celes in love with me...I was gonna ask her to marry me when her birthday came...How can I possibly do that now that I think I might be gay? And how the hell am I ever gonna find someone that would feel love for me? I don't know any gay men...I don't think I ever will..." Setzer said sadly.

At that very moment, he was even contemplating whether to jump off the side of the castle or not. It beat telling Celes and everybody else that he was gay. They would never think the same of him again...They would probably not even accept him and cast him out of the group without a second thought. Death sure seemed pleasant at the moment.

"I know what you're thinking...don't do it. It isn't worth it..." Setzer heard from behind him.

Setzer turned quickly to see, "Sabin! Wh-what are you doing out here? Shouldn't you be enjoying the party? I never saw you in a while..." Setzer trailed off as he started studying Sabin.

His body was so well built. Setzer seemed to like muscular men. Sabin seemed really sexy. The way the moon shone down over his body. It just dripped over his beautiful self so perfectly, it made Setzer shiver. Then it occurred to him. Sabin said he knew what Setzer had been thinking. That meant he knew everything...

"You heard it all...didn't you?" Setzer asked innocently. He seemed like a vulnerable child, more feminine than any man Setzer had ever known.

"Yes...I'll admit that I did...and I'm sorry for eavesdropping. I never thought you'd be queer...I thought I was the only one..." Sabin admitted sheepishly.

"You-you are too? You never ever seemed it! When-?" Setzer was cut off by Sabin's answer.

"I guess I don't seem it because of the kinda guy I am. I realised that I was gay a year ago. Ya know? At the last reunion? I seen you stroll in with your beauty. I felt my heart beat like I've never felt before. I fell head over heels for you, Setzer...I never thought you would turn out to be gay too..." Sabin admitted and smiled warmly.

Setzer never seen Sabin smile like that before. He found it very sexy and wanted to experience his first kiss with Sabin. Sabin knew he did and kissed him softly and long. It was beautiful and very passionate.

When they separated, they smiled at each other and embraced. "How did you know how I was feeling?" Setzer asked when the pulled away from each other

"I felt the exact same way when I discovered I was gay. It can happen to anyone at any time. It doesn't matter. Who knows? You could just be bisexual. Anyway, the only reason why I'm here today is my brother," Sabin explained, remembering it perfectly.

"What happened?" Setzer asked.

"Edgar overheard my little conversation. He was worried about me and followed me out here. He heard the whole thing and stopped my suicide attempt," Sabin said.

"How?" Setzer asked contently.

"He just simply said that he accepted me for who I was and everybody else would too...and they did..." Sabin said with a smile.

Setzer sighed from relief after hearing that. "That means I can tell Celes and the others too!"

"Of course. Just because of what kind of sex life you'll have, it doesn't mean you'll lose your friends. They're not going to get up and walk away for such a foolish reason. They'll understand and help you through it. I hope we can have a life together too..." Sabin said and blushed a bit.

Setzer smiled and kissed the man. "I think I honestly love you," Setzer said.

"I love you too. Now, before we do anything else. We have to go announce this to everybody after you tell Celes," Sabin said.

"I wish I didn't have to hurt the poor girl. She's been through enough now as it is..." Setzer said sadly.

"Well, Celes is a strong girl. She'll get over it eventually. Don't worry about her. She wouldn't want you to," Sabin said with another smile.

"Yeah, I guess you're right..." Setzer said.

Later on that night, Setzer did tell Celes the news and explained it as best as he could. Celes took it a little hard, but she told him not to worry. She would be OK again eventually. After breaking the news to Celes, Sabin and Setzer made an announcement of their getting together and possibly getting married within a year. Eventually, Edgar did decide to marry his brother and Setzer. They seemed to want it and Edgar wanted nothing more than to see them happy. They lived a long happy life together and everybody seemed to accept it as if Setzer was really Sabin's girl. Of course, Sabin always gave Setzer the title of being his bitch anyway, and Setzer liked it.

Author's Note: That's right! Setzer and Sabin! Anything's possible! This is my second try at writing a yaoi. I hope you enjoyed it! If you didn't like it...don't bother to review. I don't see why you people who hate yaoi would read it anyway. If you don't like it, don't read it! And don't bitch to me because you hate it 'cause I warned you in the summary!! Anyway, to those who did like it, please R&R!
