There's so much I wanna tell you,
I've changed, so have you
But I don't know what to say or do
We grew apart but I still want you in my heart
I believe it's time we made a new start.

1500, Local Soccer Fields, DC
Mac bent over breathing hard. The Captain of the team, co-incidentally a Marine as well, Major Natalie 'Ando' Anderson pulled up next to Mac. Mac was surprised at first when she realised a couple of the girls were military Officers as well. But even with their differences in rank, field and service, they all got along fine.
"So Mac, why all the hurry to get off early tonight, huh?" Ando nudged Mac in the ribs. "Got a hot date?" Mac laughed at Ando assumptions, which weren't entirely false.
"Yeah come on Mac, don't leave us in the dark on this," Squadron Leader Kathryn 'Phantom' Sanders, RAAF, piped up after hearing Ando's comments.
" This feels more like a interrogation then a training session," Mac threw back.
"Well if you just cooperate with us, you will be out of here faster than if you don't." Ando grinned.
"Yeah, whatever." Mac yelled back as she began running through the plastic training cones.
The session seemed to go on forever. But as soon as Mac's watch hit 1630, she backed up her gear and headed towards her Vette.
"Oh come on Mac, at least tell us his name!" she heard Fiona, one of the girls on the team yell out.
Mac turned around shocked. "How did you."
But her question was answered when she saw Phantom and Ando behind Fi, laughing to them selves.
"Who says it's even a guy." Mac laughed as she placed her gear in the back of her car.
"The look on your face." Phantom replied, then walked off and continued training.
Mac rolled her eyes and got into her car. She sat there for a moment, and then looked into her rear vision mirror.
"What look?" she mumbled to herself. She shook those thoughts from her head, and started the car. She would have to hurry if she wanted to go home and shower first.

Harm stood awaiting Mac's appearance in the Rose garden, where this whole journey started. Harm checked his watch again, and it didn't matter how many times he checked it, it still didn't want to cooperate and move faster. But the fact that it was now 5 minutes past the hour, meaning, Mac was late. That's what it came down to, and in all the years he had known her, she was never late.
There were 2 possible outcomes for this problem.
1 - she was just that, running late. The odds of that were slim, but not totally dismissible. If she was late he would have to exploit this tardiness to his full advantage, yes he would have to tease her to the cows came home and there are no cows in DC so, that could be for a very long time.
2- She wasn't coming. Now this too was a possibility, but one Harm did not want to even think about or even consider. It was too painful to think about, so he didn't think about and wiped that scenario right out of his head.
He looked down at his watch again and the time had ticked by, maybe his watch was now feeling sympathetic for him. But Harm now wished that it wouldn't move, because the more it did, the more scenario number 2 pushed its way to the surface of his thoughts.
"I can't stand this, it's driving me mad." Harm let a frustrated sigh and pulled out his cell phone, he wasn't going to wait much longer, if he didn't have too. Harm hit speed dial 3 and waited as the phone began to ring.
"Lt Simms."
"Harriet, hi, it's Harm,"
"Oh hey sir, what can I do for you?"
"Umm Harriet are you sure Mac is coming, because she is late and you know Mac, she's never late, I mean never! What if something's wrong or she changed her mind and now she's really not coming and.."
Harriet cut harm off., "Sir take a breath and calm down. Now she is coming trust me, ok. But she might be a little late, she was coming straight from soccer training and the grounds are over the other side of.."
This time it was harms turn to cut Harriet off, " whoa, hold up Mac plays soccer?"
"Yes sir."
"Like soccer the sport?"
"Yes sir."
"Jeez fly boy is that ok with you?" A familiar voice called from behind.
Harm turned around and come face to face with Sarah Mackenzie.
"Harriet I gotta go." Harm spoke then hung up, stuffing the cell phone back into his pocket.
Mac grinned as she watched the emotions play over his face. Did he expect her not to turn up? The expression on his face made Mac ponder that thought for a moment, and then she held her arms out to him, demanding a hug. Harm grinned at her actions and walked into her arms, pulling her tightly against him.
As they pulled away, Harm took a good look at her, although it had been 5 years since he had seen her, she still managed to make his heart jump up into his throat. She still looked the same except for a few minor details, like her hair looked longer.
He reached out and ran his fingers through her hair gently, then looked up into her warm chocolate eyes, god how he missed them, "You know I've had this mental picture of you in my mind for 5 years now, but seeing you here, now. It's just like a dream, and I'm expecting to wake up any moment.
Mac smile, but it didn't quite reach her eyes, " I know what you mean."
They both stood there for several moments, until Mac became conscious of their environment, and looped her arm in Harm's, pulling him in the direction of her car.
"So flyboy, tell me some of the dangerous, world saving missions you have been on in that past 5 years." She laughed.
Harm looked down at her and grinned, "Well I have got one for you, it's not about one of my secret missions, but one of a certain Marine I know. She got everyone to pretend like a certain flyboy was going to surprise her, but in the end, she surprised him. It was all very secretive, because Bud just kicked me out of the car and drove off leaving me here, so there must have been some mission planing for this one."
Mac just laughed more, " Why yes there was flyboy, but unfortunately there is a thing called top secret."
"Top secret my six! I was planning to surprise you with Bud and Harriet, when all along they were conspiring with you!" Harm laughed as he stopped and poked her in the ribs.
"Hey! Its not my fault your late for everything!" She poked him back.
"Yeah speaking of late, what happened to that internal clock of your's, getting a bit old is it?" Harm teased her.
Mac glared at him, "Get in the car, or your walking home Sailor."
Harm snapped to, "Yes Ma'am."
"Your funny," Mac poked her tongue out at him, and then opened her car door. She smiled as she got in the car, it was just like old times.
