Innocence, Farewell,

I say,

For I've not lost you,

You've gone away.

For can I lose,

What never was?

Inside my soul,

Was only lust.

A lust for life,

A thirst for power,

Innocence-

What I devoured.

Blood soaks into my hands,

My clothes,

My first victim lies,

In belied repose

This mask I wear,

It brands my skin,

Scorching iron,

I'm caving in.

What have I done?

I've joined the ranks,

Of a higher evil,

My worst mistake.

I hold it in,

I cannot show,

That I regret,

All I have known.
