A/N: Just a nice little thinger about Brutus I wrote for an English project. …I wrote a poem about him because I don't like him. Doesn't that make a lot of sense?
Disclaimer: Shakespeare sucks, and I'm glad I don't own anything he wrote. …Just kidding.
Et tu, Brute?
He was a friend of the truest sort,
Always by Caesar's side.
No matter how rough the road got,
Or how worn their shoes became,
He was there.
Truly, Brutus was an honorable man.
And then he heard a rumor.
Caesar, an ambitious dictator, an abuser of rights?
Could it be true?
It must have been, because, more than all else,
He wanted to do whatever was best for the people.
And if the best for them was to kill his friend,
He would do it.
But, surely, Brutus was an honorable man.
There was hope yet, of course,
If he would simply do
What any honestly moral man
Would do for a friend.
But, instead of backing out
And revealing himself for what he had become
By begging his friend, his brother, forgiveness,
He struck.
And this makes Brutus an honorable man?
He is
An ally,
A friend,
A brother,
A conspirator,
A traitor,
A back-stabber,
And a murderer.
But still, as always before,
Brutus is an honorable man.
