Chapter 2
/ Have you heard the story of the millennium puzzle? /
/ I've heard the of the puzzle itself, but that's pretty much it. /
/ I heard that the Pharaoh defeated the holder of the millennium puzzle. They say that it's cursed, and that's why he destroyed it./
/ So it's gone now, right? No more curse? /
/ Well, I heard that after it's holder was destroyed, the puzzle was shattered into tiny little pieces. Before anyone could get them, the pieces fell into the ocean. So those who were loyal to the puzzle's holder jumped into the ocean after it./
Joey, Tea, and Tristan dove into the ocean and collected the puzzle pieces from the ocean floor. When they thought they had all the pieces, they swam away before they were caught.
/ They went into hiding, and at first not even the Pharaoh could find them. They thought they might get caught soon, and they wanted to hide the puzzle pieces from the Pharaoh for some odd reason. Rumor is that it was the curse that was controlling them./
The three friends spent day and night trying to put the millennium puzzle back together. They thought that maybe if they connected all the pieces correctly, that maybe they could get there friend back.
Joey growled," This is impossible! I don't know how Yugi did it!"
Tea gazed sadly at the puzzle when she heard her friend's name. She sighed,” They’re getting closer. I think some people may be getting suspicious.”
Tristan leaned against the table that the puzzle was laid down on and said,” I heard that Marik has found a way to summon the duel monsters into existence. I think Bakura may have given him a few pointers. I remember in duelist kingdom when he summoned a man-eater bug to get rid of the guards. With monsters on his side, who knows what will happen!”
“ Yeah, I heard that he’s trying to summon the Winged Dragon of Ra to take over Egypt. Then there was rumor that he was going to move onto the rest of the world.” Tea muttered miserably.
“ And that’s why we have to get this puzzle fixed!” Joey said while trying to fit a few more pieces together.
/ They were soon spotted. I think this was around the time the Pharaoh first ruled Egypt. One of them were getting a book full of dark magic. /
Joey was dressed in a long flowing cloak that hid his identity. He had just bought a book from an antique store. As much as they tried, they just couldn’t put the puzzle together. Marik was getting closer to finding them, they just didn’t have enough time. So they decided to hide the puzzle from their enemy. Marik couldn’t get his hands on it. But they weren’t just going to hide the puzzle in one place were someone could easily find it.
/ They got spotted when they were getting the book. So the Pharaoh planned a sneak attack. /
Joey had to get home quickly, so he was running toward their hide out. He unfortunately didn’t see the nail sticking out of the wall. His cloak got caught on the nail and caused a long rip in the fabric. The rip was big enough to reveal his face. He quickly pulled the shredded cloth over his face, but he didn’t notice the spy that was hiding in the shadows.
/ With the help of the book, they cast a spell and scattered all the puzzle pieces across the earth. The Pharaoh and his followers had arrived to late. The pieces had already been hidden. The spell casters were punished though. /
As the three friends chanted the incantations from the book, the puzzle pieces began glowing and rose up in the air. With the last word of the spell, the pieces shot off in different directions at the speed of light. Three remaining pieces stayed behind and hid inside of Joey, Tristan, and Tea.
At that moment, Marik and his followers had broken down the door. Marik glared at them with great fury when he saw the millennium puzzle pieces disappear. He rose his rod and began chanting in Egyptian. Tristan, Joey, and Tea ran off in different direction in attempt to escape the enraged tomb keeper.
A black beam of magic shot out of his rod and struck Joey in the chest. He fell to the ground and arched his back in pain. He cried out as his skin slowly grew fur and his bones broke and shrunk. He sprouted a furry tail and his ears became longer and pointy. Marik watched with great amusement as Joey’s human cry turned into a feline yowl.
In his place stood a short-haired blond colored cat with chocolate brown eyes. What Marik didn't notice was the darker patch of fur on Joey's chest that was shaped like a piece from the puzzle.
/ But they still got away in the end, and they haven't been seen since. According to the legend, the cursed puzzle pieces are still out there, waiting to be found and put back together. There's also something in the legend saying that the millennium puzzle's holder will return if the pieces are all together when day turns into night. That happened eight years ago. /
/ What was their names? /
/ I'm not sure. I don't think anybody but the Pharaoh and a few of his closest followers knows. /
" Wow," said the seven year old boy as the story ended." That's the biggest load of crap I've ever heard in my entire life!"
" It's not crap, it's true!" The eleven year old girl protested. She had blond hair and bright blue eyes.
" How would you know, Paige? You were only three when it happened. You barely remember what you did two days ago!" The brown hair boy with dark brown eyes said.
" Shut up, Caleb! You weren't even born when it happened. I would know more than you would." Paige snapped.
" You should really stop believing everything you hear. Or did you read it from one of your stupid books?" Caleb asked.
" My books are not stupid!" she growled.
" Alright you two, break it up," a female voice said from behind them.
They turned around to see a woman with brown hair that went just below her shoulders and dark blue eyes. She looked like she was in her twenties and was wearing a white blouse and a dark blue skirt. She crossed her arms over her chest and frowned at the two children.
" You two should be getting home before your mother worries," she said." There are people out here at night looking for troublemakers that would make good slaves." she grinned when she saw the children's look of horror.
" Us, troublemakers?" Paige asked in disbelief." No, we're good kids."
" But, we'll head home now. You know, just in case?" Caleb said while grabbing his older sister's hand and walking off.
" You two be careful!" She called after them.
" We will! Bye Ms. Mazaki!" they said in together as they ran off.
When the two siblings were out of sight, Anzu Mazaki walked back into her house and shut the door. She walked over to a couch and sat down sighing. A full grown shorthaired cat with smooth blond fur jumped up onto the couch and sat down next to her. He stared at her with milk chocolate eyes and meowed.
Anzu absentmindedly petted the feline and asked," Eight years. Has it really been that long?" The blond cat stared at her crossly, so she removed her hand from his head and muttered," Sorry. I forgot." The cat rolled his eyes.
Anzu picked her friend up and held him in the air. She stared at the mark on his chest and muttered," Scattered across the earth..." he meowed again." You know what Jounouchi? I think it's time for someone to find the pieces to the puzzle."
Jounouchi agreed with a meow.
End chapter two. What do you all think? The reason why they're using their original Japanese names is because they don't want anyone to know who they really are. Marik has everyone thinking that the puzzle is evil, so...yeah...I'm not sure if I got their Japanese names right, so if I'm wrong please tell me...
