A/N: Hello peoples! Shadow here and boy are you all in for a treat! Here's my new story! Hope you all like it! By the way it has nothing to do with My Lady! It takes place after the events of the game and Chris was chosen as the Flame Champion. There are OC's in here but I promise it'll be good…hopefully…maybe… …umm anyway, I hope you all like it and everything. It stars Borus and Percival and is a comedy. Which means that there will be comedic mayhem involved and extreme silliness. You poor fools…er, I mean fortunate people get to read it! I hope you review, flames are excepted. I will take those and either set humanity on fire or toast marshmallows, which ever comes first. Mmmm…marshmallows. Have fun storming the castle!
Part 1
Borus was on the verge of consciousness when he felt a presence hang over him. Grudgingly he cracked open an eye to see who it was that had a death wish so early in the morning. His brown eyes focused and the grinning visage of a certain irritating dark haired knight came into view. He groaned and turned away from the unwelcome guest grumbling, "Go away Percival."
He could hear Percival's very annoying chuckle and could almost see the smirk on his obnoxious face. "Oh my, it does appear that Lord Borus is not a morning person." Percival grabbed the sheets from Borus and pulled them away. "Come on Borus, the sun has risen and has requested you presence. Come now sunshine you got to get up!"
Borus snarled and tried to tear the sheets from Percival's hands but failed and ended up on the cold floor. He shivered agianst as he got up from the freezing stone. "Damn it it's cold in here."
"Well then you better get dressed." Percival motioned to Borus' bare chest. He took a seat on a chair as Borus staked over to wardrobe remembering to try to knock the smug knight off of his seat as he went to go find his clothes. "I cannot fathom how you can sleep in on such a fine morn!" the brunette knight took a deep breath stretching his arms wide.
"What's fine about this morning?" Borus snapped as he began to strap his armor on.
"It hasn't been more then five minutes and since you've woken up and you're already pissed. I do believe that's a record." Percival tossed Borus' sheets back on the bed as the blonde knight finished putting on his armor.
"I'm not pissed." Borus quipped as they left his room and started down the hallway. He gazed at his friend from the corner of his eye. "I just want to know why in the world. In Saint Loa's name you are so joyful this morning that you had to wake me up."
Percival grinned at the shorter knight a laugh in his gray eyes. "There has to be a reason?" He chuckled as Borus groaned in dismay. Ah getting up this early to annoy him was one of his most favorite past time. He shot his companion a quick look; "Actually there is a reason."
"And what pray tell is it?" Their armor clinked together as they slowly walked down the steps making their way down to the mess.
"The new knights arrive today." Percival grinned madly at Borus mischief dripping from it.
"Newbies," Borus sighed then frowned at the older man, "New prey for you right?"
"Oh yes very much so and you know what? Since I've lost Lucius in during the war over the True Runes I needed a new knight to replace him." he rubbed his hand in anticipation.
"Oh goodie," Borus sighed as he watched Percival nearly bounce into the mess almost skipping to the back table where Lady Chris sat with the others eating breakfast. Resigning himself to a ver long day he walked over and took a seat next to Roland and across form Lady Chris. "Good morning milady. How are you?" he asked pleasantly as a maid brought him breakfast.
"I'm fine thank you Borus. And yourself?" the silver haired maiden nodded as she took a bite of toast.
"Nothing a good beating wouldn't cure." He muttered to himself his eyes going to the still jovial Percival at Chris' side.
"What's that Borus?" Percival asked sweetly batting his eyes in mock innocence.
Damn him and his hearing * he swore in his head then smoothly replied, "Ah, nothing. So, Lady Chris, was Percival correct in that the new knights are arriving today?" he asked mildly starting in on his eggs.
"Yes they are. In fact they should be here soon." Chris mentioned sipping her tea.
"Ah," Borus nodded. "I wonder if any are greatly skilled." He stated as the door of the mess swung open and a man dressed in courier clothes stepped in.
"Excuse me, but is there a Borus Redrum here?" he called out.
Borus looked back and raised a hand and the courier jogged over to him. "I'm Borus Redrum." He answered as the courier reached into his bag.
"I have a message for you sir, from Vinay del Zexay."
"Thank you." He accepted the letter and handed over some potch to the courier as he scurried out of the room.
"Who's it from? Percival asked smiling, "Your girlfriend?"
Leo laughed into his coffee as a blank look came over Chris' face. Borus had to greatly resist the urge to knock Percival to Caleria and back. "I don't have a girlfriend Percival." He spat through gritted teeth.
"Then who is it from?" the smirk on the brunette knight's face was more annoying then the tone of his voice.
"How am I suppose to know? I haven't read it yet." He barked as he broke the seal. It should be illegal for a person to b that annoying. His eyes scanned over the letter then widen in total shock, "Oh dear Goddess no."
"What?" Percival demanded nearly jumping over the table to see.
"What's the matter Borus?" Chris asked worried over the look of absolute horror on the blonde knight's face.
"It can't be…" Borus read the letter over again shaking his head. "No."
"What is it?" Percival was going to die of curiosity as he tried to read the letter from over Borus' shoulder.
Just then Salome strolled in and walked over to the table. He looked over from Borus to Chris his eyebrows raised in question. "Milady what is the matter with Borus?"
Chris shook her head. "I don't know. He just received a letter then," she motioned to Borus who still sat there mouth agape in terror, "he's like this."
"I wonder why?" Salome pondered, as he looked Borus over. In quivering hands he still had the letter. Grasped tightly. Then as if on cue the doors opened yet again but this time a young woman strolled in.
She looked around the mess the spotted them in the back and sauntered over. "Borus?" she asked cocking her head to the side sending her long golden ponytail swinging. Borus slowly turned in his seat to face her. "It IS you Borus!" she cried flinging her arms around his neck. "Oh, I've missed you so much!" Borus just sat there a vacant dull glaze in his eyes.
"And you said you didn't have a girl friend!" Percival taunted a wicked smile on his face.
Snapping out of his trance Borus growled back, "I don't!" then turned to the tall young woman. "And what do you think you are doing here?"
"Aren't you glad to see me?" she gave him a mock pout, then giggled at him. Snuggling against his face. "Goddess knows I'm happy to see you!"
"Just answer the question." Borus sighed rubbing his aching head.
"I'm here because I'm supposed to be here silly." Her hazel brown eyes glittered at him. "Didn't you get my letter? I sent it this morning."
"Yes I did and I don't believe a word of it." Borus stated flatly ignoring the scowl on her face.
The girl sighed and shook her head sending her blonde tresses swaying. "You never have, why should it change now?"
"Nice going Romeo. Is that anyway to treat your lady love?" Percival pretended to scold him shaking his finger at him. His eyes caught hers and he smiled. "If you don't want her, I'll take her."
"You most certainly will not!" exclaimed Borus casting a dark gaze at the giggling maiden beside him.
"So you are courting her." Percival laughed at the blonde knight's furious look.
"She's my sister!" Borus yelled his hot temper getting the better of him.
After a brief stunned silence Chris quietly asked, "You have a sister Borus?"
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Katarina Redrum." She gave them all an elaborate bow.
"Borus' sister?" Percival grinned at her, "Older or younger?"
"Younger. He's four years my senior." She smiled back sitting down next to her brother her eyes never leaving the brunette knight.
"So you are…21. Ah old enough to drink." Borus could almost see the wheels turn in Percival's head.
"No, just no." Borus sighed covering his eyes with his hand. Then he turned to Kat and asked, "What are you doing here? Because if it isn't important then you ought to leave."
"It's in my letter, and if you still don't believe me ask anyone here, ask Lord Salome." She messed with his unruly blonde hair laughing at his irritation
"Salome, can you check your lists to see if Kat is on it?" he asked resisting the urge to bang his head on the table. It appears this wasn't going to be a good day after.
"Of the new knights?" Salome reached into his jacket and pulled out a leather bound notebook. "Let me see…ah, here it is right here. Katarina Redrum top of the list, excellent skill in sword wielding and horse handling."
"See I told you!" Kat patted her older brother's shoulder.
"Then where's your armor?" he asked poking at her open necked dull sleeved shirt. "Answer me that."
"Being forged as we speak. I can't wear standard issue armor. You know that. I have certain…ah, assets that prevent that." She smirked at him as he sighed in resignation.
Giving up, he accepted the fact that his baby sister was a knight. "I cannot believe mother and father let you do this."
"I'm the youngest out of four children, of course they let me. You know full well that they can't do anything else with me." She chuckled rubbing his arm. She looked at Salome, "Lord Salome, I was wondering whose charge I will be under?"
"Well, it says here you'll be working under…Percival." He stated mildly.
Borus gasped in horror at the elder blonde knight. "No. Please say it isn't so! It's wrong right?" he nearly begged Salome.
"Why? What's wrong Borus?" Kat asked him looking at the sweetly smiling Percival. "Lord Percival seems to be a wonderful knight to work under." But Borus knew otherwise remembering his friend's words earlier.
"Oh come on Borus, it'll be fun." Percival gave him a comforting smile then leaned across the table and whispered so softly that only they could hear it. "I promise I'll be very gentle with her."
"You better." He quickly replied then catching the other meaning of his words, "Wait a minute, you bastard!" he trailed off as Kat grabbed his arm.
"Oh lighten up Borus!" she smiled at him her brown eyes sparkling.
Borus sighed in resignation again. It seemed like it was just going to be one of those days. He watched Percival lean over the table and gave Kat an innocent boyish look, which he knew was so very fake. "Now tell me something, my dear Kat."
"Yes?" she replied returning the same faux look. Borus shook his head, two of a pair. They were made for each other, but he would do everything and anything to protect her from Percival and his advances.
"Do you have any embarrassing stories about your big brother?" Percival asked innocently.
"Do I ever!" she exclaimed giggling madly. Borus banged his head on the table with a loud thud. Yes it was just going to be one of those days.
