Strength Of Spirit

I had forgotten how to laugh

Knew only a semblance of a smile

Was a stranger to joy.

You cradled me through hardship

Through the strength of your spirit

I was changed forever.

I knew I had to go forth

Go forth and live,

No life passing me by.

Emotions come slower to me

Doubly precious.

I feel friendship

For all that have helped me,

Except for my tenshi.

I feel friendship, yes

But everything else

Is still unknown to me.

Sympathy, understanding

And camaraderie

Maybe even love.

Now I can smile

With real emotion.
