In the elevator

By Ophelia Winters

Disclaimer: I don't own Fruits Basket. It belongs to the respective owners.

Author's notes: Bored. OOC may ensue.

"Feeling better," I ask as he nods with the back of his head on my lap.

He says he has appendicitis and his abdomen's aching. I thought what the hell? I could help him out a little. I offered my lap. Now he's lying down on it.

We've basically been stuck in the lift for an eternity. Okay, then maybe 4 minutes or so. I don't really give a shit. I just want to get a check-up and out of here.

I look annoyed. Pissed off as usual.

"I'm burdening you then," he gets up from my lap just to moan.

I put my hand on his stomach and gently lay him down on my lap. Yes, yes, I do have a woman's touch.

"It's a forced habit." I roll my eyes.

I know I'm not used to this but he doesn't deserve my unkindness though.

"A rather strange one, I believe." He grins in a goofy way making me grin.

Like I said I'm not used to this.

He groans a little, like he's holding back something.

"Come on, you know we're not going to be stuck here forever. Don't be such a pussy. Just wait."

But then again what would I know about wisdom? I just want him to shut up.

He's struggling and I can see it in his face. It's not like I do this shit everyday but I think a little comfort would do. It worked with Dr Dolittle.

I stroke his face gently. His face has such a nice structure. I slowly outline it with my finger. A strand of my hair gently brushes against his face. He grabs my hand and squeezes.

"Hey, gentle."

"I'm sorry," he apologizes. He winces a little. "Just a little more, just a little more."

I control my features. He's going to be okay. I softly squeeze his hand a little more. I try to look my sympathetic best.

"You know, if you really believe it. You're going to be well soon."

"Thanks, Outani-san" he smiles weakly.

"Call me Uo," I shrug. "It feels weird to be addressed like that."

"Call me Shigure, then."

I look at him fondly for a while. It's really quiet, nobody's talking. He's just looking at me like that. I can't quite describe it. It maybe a little freaky.

But I like being looked at with those eyes. There so caring, so lovely. We're making eye-contact like those lovers. I bet we resemble the couples who have those death-bed scenes. You know, one lover is holding the dying one lovingly in his/her lap.

"You have nice lips," he mutters all of a sudden. I'm taken aback.

Tohru never told me he was like this.

I'm knocked into my senses.

"You're not really hurting are you?"

"No, not really."

I should be offended. I'm not.

I laugh all of a sudden. I'm actually amused. He laughs too.

"You're available then?"

I nod.

"Mind you though, you have to mind where your eyes go if you want to date me."

"Aww . . ." he jokes.

"On the bright side, you can leer at me all you want." I wink shamelessly.

"Whoop de do."

I snigger. I'm actually flirting with a pervert. I'm enjoying it.
