A while, contented with ‘Right back to normal’

Kept to the Greenhouses most of the time.

Don’t see teacher’s head shakes,

But finally, watched it,

My future, trail downwards to Gran’s burning eyes.

Ginny still says; what I want, I can be,

But there’s nothing to do, not for me.

ΩΩΩ

Too dull and small-hearted to care all at once,

If You-know-who’s back, and his minions free.

My own troubles nearer,

A truth feeling awful,

For now, something brackets life, captures my fear.

Enjoy the last days, Nev, before the bars fall,

But there’s nothing to do, not at all.

ΩΩΩ

Whatever I get, sure I’ll fall and I’ll cry,

Family won’t, just deny my existence.

I can’t stop them asking,

See faces inside theirs,

My parents, Hermione, Harry–I’d fail them.

Worked all I could, fought to change,

But there’s nothing to do, now, it’s strange.

ΩΩΩ

The owl left. I watered my plants the last–few–times,

A life passed before I held papers and turned them.

Like pain of an arm-break,

A blank, then the burning,

Run out, see the sky, feel joy rising within you.

You’re changed from a half-squib, mouth set,

Content nothing’s to do, not just yet.
