You're Not Alone
Hitomi walked against the concrete of the sidewalk beside the ocean as she was on her way home. However, she was thinking of something else, rather than her home...Her mother and brother...
She was thinking of a certain person...or certain people. These people were her friends. No, wait...wasn't Ukari and Amano her friends? She shook her head from all of the confusion. She stared out at the ocean. Ukari was her friend. However, Amano had gone away...moved.
"Gaea..."
Without the sixteen year old woman realizing, she began walking again, past the route to her house, past the limit of the town. She could still see the ocean though. She could still see a young man's face in the sky, a pendant around his neck. He seemed to be reaching out to her. She wanted to grasp his hand, but couldn't reach.
I've walked so long I can't remember
Where was my home?
Their distant faces fade away
I'm always on my own
I can show a smile, it's not hard to do
I can have the strength to go on
But sometimes I wanna let go of everything
Hitomi stopped. She looked around. Where was she? "Oh my God...I'm lost..."
She hadn't even realised that she had wandered off course. Now, she had no idea where she was. She couldn't even remember what the place was called. She felt light-headed. She could see the man's hand reaching closer to her. She had almost grasped it when she felt something roughly pull at her shoulder.
Hitomi shrieked and turned swiftly. There was a girl with red hair and worried eyes in front of her. "U-Ukari?"
"Hitomi! What are you doing out here? You were supposed to go straight home and rest! Didn't you hear me? Hitomi? Hitomi!" Ukari yelled worriedly.
"What?" Hitomi jumped again. Her mind had fallen back to the raven-haired man.
"What are you doing out here? You had fainted in class today, remember? You were supposed to go straight home! I followed you because..." Ukari's voice faded away along with everything else in the world Hitomi had suddenly woken up in.
The raven-haired man was smiling again. "Hitomi! Grab my hand! I'll take you home!" his smile was warming and she felt safe. She was reaching for his hand...
"Hitomi! Let go of me! Let go!" Ukari protested as Hitomi started grabbing out at her chest all of a sudden and grasped her shirt.
"Huh? What?" Hitomi woke up again.
"What's wrong with you?" Ukari asked, filled with worry once more.
Hitomi looked at Ukari and then suddenly remembered. She wasn't there anymore...and she couldn't remember his name...She couldn't remember him...His name...it was blank...!
Hitomi's eyes filled with tears at that point. She broke into sobs and hugged Ukari tightly. "I can't remember his name! I can only remember what he looks like! Ukari! I'm losing him!" Hitomi cried.
Ukari stared at her friend. Oh my God...she forgot to take her meds...Now I get it...She's having those hallucinations again... Ukari patted Hitomi on the back and smiled sadly. "It's OK, Hitomi. It'll all come back sooner or later. Here, take one of these with this," Ukari said, taking out a pill from a bottle that Hitomi's mom gave her just in case. She gave it to Hitomi with some orange juice she had in her duffle bag.
In Hitomi's mind, she couldn't hear Ukari. I can't remember him...He's fading away from my mind...I don't want him to...I love him...I feel so alone...as always...I need to stay strong...I know I'll see him again...I have to, I just know it...But...can't I just fade and let go?...Can't I go back...?
Hitomi's thoughts faded away as Ukari force-fed Hitomi the medication and she completely forgot about the raven-haired man for another day...
When thoughtfulness is not their game
I teach by giving love
High mountain seems higher endlessly
When their pebbles at your feet
And if you should still fall into despair
There is one thing left to believe
I lie in your heart always
"Hitomi-chan, ai shiteru...please remember..."
"Hitomi...I'll never leave you...I'll always be in your heart..."
"Itooshi...boku no tenshi...I'll never forget you..."
"When you fall into despair...please remember me..."
Hitomi woke again to feel wetness on her face. She had been crying in her sleep again. She knew that voice. It was so sweet and calm. She knew it. The raven-haired boy. She knew it...but she couldn't remember his name...Why couldn't she remember?
Hitomi rubbed her eyes and washed her face in her water bowl on her dresser. She looked at a picture of her and two other people. One, a girl with red hair, and the other, a boy with dark brown hair...Who were they again? Were they her friends? Hitomi shook her head again. All of a sudden, the picture changed and was a picture of her, the raven boy, and a little cat-girl with pink hair.
Hitomi fell back on her bed and rubbed her eyes again. It was the red hair and dark brown again in the picture. I'm hallucinating...
After a few more minutes, Hitomi got up and looked out her bedroom window. For some reason, she was expecting that same cat-girl to hang out from the top of the window like one time before when she was looking out the window...
Hitomi shook her head again. "When did that happen?"
Ever since Hitomi had come home and seen a councilor, and a psychiatrist who gave her pills to take, she felt as if a big part of her life had been erased from her memory. It made her depressed and that made the psychiatrist give her more pills to take.
No one understood. She wanted to know why she felt a gigantic part of her was missing. However, that would be impossible since everyone in her family and her friends and people at school insisted that she take her meds. They all believed she was crazy, but she wasn't.
They wouldn't believe that she knew of a different world called Gaea...They wouldn't believe that she was fine...They wouldn't believe anything she said. Even Ukari, her best friend in the world, thought she was insane. Hitomi sighed and got dressed.
She didn't feel like going to school that way, so she faked being sick. Her mother had work and her brother would be at school, so she had the whole house to herself, and no one to force-feed her those damn drugs. She decided to take a nap on the couch...
Nothing's braver than honesty
My life is your faith in me
"Hitomi...Hitomi...ai shiteru...remember me?"
"Here, I want you to have this."
"But isn't that your grandmother's pendant?"
"Yes...but I want you to have it...as a good luck charm!"
"I love it here. I love Fanelia...I don't want to leave...I want to live here, but..."
"Shh..."
"Ai shiteru Hitomi-Chan..."
"Ai shiteru, Van-Sama..."
Hitomi sprung up in tears. "Van!"
"I have faith in you, itooshi...You can remember...You will..."
She felt someone calling to her heart, her soul, her mind. Hitomi could feel someone reaching out to her. "It's Van! Van-Sama!"
"Hitomi-Chan..."
Tears of joy spread on the young woman's face. "Van-Sama! Boku no tenshi!"
Just as memories flooded back to her, a needle is stuck into her neck. Everything goes black...
I'll be there when you need
You don't have to hide from me
What you are feeling now
I fill your soul
We will seek together destiny
Troubles have an end
We will carry on hand in hand
You're not alone
"I'm here when you need me...I'm always in your heart...Hitomi-chan..."
"Hitomi! You can remember! Remember me! Remember Gaea! Remember Fan-"
Hitomi woke up violently to see her mother looking at her worriedly.
"You were screaming something and having hallucinations again. I had to give you one of the needles your psychiatrist gave me."
As Hitomi heard those words, she burst into bitter, angry tears.
"How could you do that!? I was starting to remember something very important to me, and you take it all away! Well you can tell all of them that I won't take anymore drugs! I won't take anymore of this! I'm not crazy! I know what I saw and I know what I feel! I'm in love with Van Slanzaar De Fanel, King of Fanelia and I won't let you take his memory away from me again!"
"Hitomi, wait! You haven't taken your meds!" her mother shouted after her, but it was in vain.
With those last words, Hitomi ran out of the house and out of sight...
People searching desperately outside themselves
Caught up in thinking of whatever helped
And I'd forgotten too that love exists inside me
As in those I wanted from, as in those I wanted from
I feel you now, I feel you now...
Hitomi ran down the streets until she ran into Ukari next. Ukari looked worried. "Hitomi? What's wrong?"
"Nothing! I'm perfectly fine! I'll keep being fine as long as you don't feed me anymore drugs! Some friend you turned out to be! Thinking I'm crazy and not believing a word I say! You're just like the rest of them!" Hitomi yelled and ran on.
"Hitomi, wait!" Ukari ran after her.
Hitomi paid no attention to this and kept running. She ran to the track field and slowed to catch her breath.
"Hitomi-chan...I have faith in you...You can remember..."
As Hitomi heard the voice, she broke into tears of joy again. "Van-Sama! Help me!" she cried and memories filled her mind.
For so long, she felt that no one loved her enough to realize that she needed them to listen to her. However, there was still one person who did love her. He did listen to her. He did help her. His name was Van Fanel. Hitomi felt her love swell up once again. The only reason why everyone was feeding her drugs was because they worried and wanted to help. They thought that was the only way to help. However, all they had needed to do was support her.
I'll be there
I'll be there when you need
We will live together
We will live together
Nothing is in our way
Nothing is in our way
With trust in our soul
"I'll always be there when you need me, Hitomi-chan. Don't you ever forget that. You can come back, and we can finally be together again..."
"Oh, Van-Sama...I would like that very much..." Hitomi smiled as she seen him again, his hand reaching for her's.
Ukari ran up and pulled on her arm. "Hitomi! What are you doing? Come back with me! I have to take you to the hospital!"
Hitomi turned to her friend with a smile on her face. "Ukari, meet Van. Van, this is Ukari..."
Ukari looked at where Hitomi was pointing and saw a man with raven colored hair. "H-hello..."
"Hello, Ukari. Do you believe Hitomi now? She's not crazy. This is real. Please tell Hitomi's mother that she is with Van Fanel now, and I will take good care of her," the King instructed with a grin.
All Ukari could do was nod in disbelief and watch as Hitomi was taken away with the one called Van in a bright blue light...
We will seek together destiny
Troubles have an end
We will carry on hand in hand
We won't forget we have each other, never
Love is in the hearts of all men
You're not alone...
"Ai shiteru, boku no tenshi..." Van smiled at his wife as they overlooked their Kingdom.
"Ai shiteru, itooshi..." Hitomi replied and smiled back.
Yes, it was true, no one is truly alone, and troubles do have an end. Hitomi Kanzaki and Van Fanel married the day they returned to Fanelia. They do carry on hand in hand from this day on. Their destiny is now entwined with each other. It surely must be true then...that love is really in the hearts of all men, no matter how cocky or stubborn, pig-headed, or cold-hearted they may seem...
Author's Note: So, how was it? I wrote this in like...maybe an hour or a half an hour, so it was pretty rushed...um...I hope no one was ooc. I also know perfectly well that Hitomi's mother knew about Gaea due to Hitomi's Grandmother, but let's just say that what Hitomi tells everybody seems...a little too out of whack to have actually happened, K?
Oh, and just in case any of you are wondering about the japanese I used, here are the translations:
Aishiteru - I love you
Itooshi - Beloved
Soku no tenshi - My angel
Chan and Sama - can mean almost anything from a pet's name for lovers, or a title of a king, you know, like the way Merle always say Lord Van? Van-Sama is a term of that.
I really hope you like it. Please tell me what you think to reassure me that it doesn't suck! ;
