Standard disclaimers apply. In other words, I don't own a bit of it. I just drag the characters into my pit of torture and play with them. Read on. And then review. Flames are okay, but please, try and keep the real nasty stuff to yourself. Danke danke.

Fred smiled and gave himself a mental a mental pat on the back. Snape was most certainly going to just be enamored with his birthday present. True, he and his brother had not really wanted to do anything for Snape, the greasy git, but since it was the twins' last year, they had decided on doing something for all their teachers' birthdays.
George was currently in the corridor outside Snape's classroom, playing lookout, waiting for Fred to present to him the finished product. Fred whistled a few tuneless notes and George hurries in. He placed a hand to his heart and his eyes fluttered closed.
"Fred," he murmured, "you have truly outdone yourself."
The twins exchanged identical wicked grins and ambled out of the dungeons, up to the Gryffindor(k) common rooms. (A/N: Gryffindork! I couldn't resist! XD)
They beamed as Hermione confronted them, demanding to know where they had been during dinner.
"Nowhere of importance, Hermione!" George said jovially, flinging an arm about her shoulders. "Say, how would you like a Skiving Snackbox? Half price!"
"Don't you try and change the subject, George Weasly! I won't hesitate to give you a detention if you've been off causing trouble, and I'm sure Ron will back me up on this one! Or have you forgotten that we're prefects this year?"
The twins hadn't forgotten. Not like it bothered them anyway. They greatly appreciated the end of Hermione's comment, however, when their eyes lit on Ron, who was now the color of a Gryffindor banner and mumbled "Actually, Hermione. uh."
"Well," Fred huffed, "If you must know, we were adding the finishing touches to Snape's birthday present."
"Yes," George added, "and we placed a semi-permanent stick charm on it. It ought to come off by the end of the last class tomorrow."
"We wanted all the classes to see it, you understand."
Ron looked flabbergasted. "Birthday? Present? For. for Snape?"
"Well, it is their last year," Harry said, catching on quickly. "It's only fitting they do something so. thoughtful for the man who has taught them potions all these six and a half years."
"Yes, yes, exactly, Harry!" Fred winked.
"Well, we want to be awake enough tomorrow to fully enjoy the reactions of everyone, so we're heading to bed early. G'night."
And with that, the twins trotted up the stairs to the boys' dormitories.
"Blimey!" Ron exclaimed, shaking his head. "I wonder what they did."
Hermione tutted. "Well, we'll be the first to find out though, won't we? We have double Potions with the Slytherins tomorrow right after breakfast."
Harry gave a tired sigh. "Whatever it is, I just hope it isn't too bad. I mean, double Potions with Snape is bad enough when he's in a good mood. Imagine his well and truly pissed for the two hours we're at his mercy!"
The three stood there with dazed expressions, imagining the horror Harry had just voiced aloud.

Meanwhile, Professor Snape stalked down to his dungeons. He had second year papers to grade and he was less than looking forward to it. Somehow, writing snide comments like "this is not even the potion I assigned you", "I would have expected as much from a toddler", ""illegible", and "not sufficient in the least" had recently lost its former appeal.
He sneered at a few lingering students and took thirty points from a Hufflepuff who was polishing off a treacle tart in the Entrance Hall, but it only served to send him into an even fouler mood.
Finally, he reached the dank comfort of the dungeons and swept off at a faster pace to his classroom and office. He opened the door, and.

END CHAPTER ONE Wahahahaha! Cliffhanger of dooooom! I'm sorry it's so short and I sincerely hope that I kept everyone in character. I want to write more, but I'm not sure what I want the surprise to be, so I've listed a few choices. Please review and let me know which one you all want so I can go on with the next chapter! I don't know how often I'll update, but it shouldn't be too sporadic. Anyway, here are your choices: the entire classroom done up in Gryffindor colors\ a GIANT picture of Sirius Black (I'm not sure how the students would handle that. You know, they all still think he's evil.) a mural spanning the whole wall behind his desk depicting fluffy bunnies and daisies Flashing neon lights reading "I know Unforgivables and I enjoy using them
OR Something else entirely

Ideas and reviews welcome, minna!
