Disclaimer: I own neither Yu-Gi-Oh nor Evanescence's "Hello"

Warnings: Character death.

Mindless Babble: I don't usually do song fics but this song screamed for it. And no, I'm not dead. Yet.

Hello

Playground school bells rings again
Rain clouds come to play again

I can see Ryou standing in the middle of the schoolyard. The sun is setting painting the clouds that are gathering in so many different shades. There are tears streaming down his pale cheeks. I want to go comfort him. The school bells chime just as the heavens break open.

Has no one told you she's not breathing?

Joey stands in a room of white facing Tristan. The walls are hung with soothing pastel paintings. Large plush chairs are scattered around the room. Tristan's features are set into a mask of control. He is telling his blond friend something, but I can't hear what. I watch the emotions cross Joey's face. First fear, then denial followed sorrow. Then comes the rage. He screams in defiance pounding his fist against Tristan's chest. Tears flood his eyes. He must not be hurting the taller boy; Tristan just stands there taking it. When Joey's fury is spent he falls to the ground, rage melting into simple despair. Tristan kneels, gathering his friend into his arms. And together they weep.

Hello I'm your mind giving you
Someone to talk to
Hello

Yugi sits by himself in the park. Rain mixes with his tears, washing his cheeks sorrow. Again I want to go comfort someone I care deeply for. Ah! Yami has appeared next Yugi. He'll know what to do to help his Hikari. Strange, though. I've never seen Yami and Yugi as separate entities.

If I smile and don't believe
Soon I'll know I'll wake from this dream

Mai is lying on her bed. Her body is being wracked with sobs. She just got off the phone. It takes a few minutes for her tears to slow. When they do she looks up and spots her Duel Monsters deck. She starts to flip through it looking for one card. When she finds it, she pulls it out and sets the rest of her deck aside. She holds the card carefully as if it might break. I can see it now. It's "Harpies Feather Duster". I'm not sure why But Mai's tears return with a vengeance.

Don't try to fix me I'm not broken
Hello
I'm the lie living for you so you can hide
Don't cry

Seto sits at the head of a long wooden table. Lining the sides of the table are old men dressed in drab business suits. The teen's frown deepens when the phone next to him rings. He picks it up and listens, his expression never changing. He hangs up after a cold thank you. He sit in silence for a moment or two then dismisses the old men. He ignores the protest and again tells them to leave. When the room is cleared, he turns his high-backed chair to face the ceiling high windows. He watches the rain hit that glass and run down in tiny rivulets. After a moment, he touches his face, mildly surprised to find it wet. Perhaps he did care about me.

Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping

Tea Gardner
She now dances among the clouds

That's what the gravestone says. It all comes back to me in a rush. First the bath, then the full bottle of pills and finally the razor. I look down at my arms. My left forearm bears a long white line running from my wrist to the crook of my elbow. The right arm has a line that is only half as long. I remember now. It was almost midnight when I decided to end my life.

Hello I'm still here
All that's left of yesterday
