A VERY Good Morning
Alex tiptoed into Claire's bedroom. The old wooden floorboards creaked but
Claire didn't wake. He stopped at her bedside and stood staring at her, her
eyes were closed and she looked beautiful in every way. Alex lifted the
duvet cover and slipped himself under the blankets. It was very warm in the
bed, but freezing outside the covers, and he had only his boxers on. Claire
stirred and moaned but she still didn't wake. Instead she put her arm
around Alex's chest and snuggled into him as he put his arm around her.
They lay there for a long time; Alex listened to the sound of the birds
chirping and the lambs calling in the crisp spring atmosphere. It was an
amazing day; the sun was beginning to rise and Claire slowly woke.
She had no idea who was lying next to her, in fact she got quite a fright
at Alex looking in amazement.
"Alex? What are you doing here?"
"Thought you looked kinda cold" Alex pulled her closer.
Claire still had her arms wrapped around him. She had wanted him so badly
in the last few months, and now she finally had him holding her. She wanted
it to last forever.
"You sure had a lot to drink last night!" Alex laughed.
"Uh, I can't remember much. I felt like crap."
"Yea well you should have seen yourself doing that strip-tease on the
table! That was a crack-up!"
"WHAT!?"
"Just joking! Don't worry - you didn't do anything stupid."
"Ha ha very funny. Did you stay here, over night?" Claire asked still
sleepily.
"Uh, yea. Well I guess I had a lil too much to drink as well. Meg said I
could crash on the couch. Hope you don't mind, it might be covered in my
drool - I had some pretty amazing dreams!"
"Oh shut up!. did you dream about me?"
"Maybe."
Claire pulled herself closer. This wasn't any of the guys she'd met before,
and it wasn't one of her previous boyfriends - this was Alex: her best
friend who she'd known all her life, and now she was in bed with him. Still
- she loved him more than she had loved anything before. She just couldn't
get enough of him. She put her head on his chest and listened to his
breathing.
Alex brushed his hands through her hair. He had never wanted anything more
in his life. He would have sold his favourite possession - his chopper - in
return for Claire's love.
Both of them had never been happier. Both of them wanted more, but taking
it further (especially at this time in the morning) was something they were
wary of. Their friendship was at stake. Once you are passed the "just
friends" stage, foundations are fragile and neither of them could bear
losing each other. So instead, they lay hand in hand. Alex bend his head
down and kissed her on the cheek. She turned her head and kissed him on the
lips - tongues and all!
After a few passionate minutes, they parted and Claire rose out of the bed
to get dressed. Alex lay smiling, with his arms behind his head watching
her. She turned to see him still looking at her and she grabbed her
bathrobe heading for the door. "We'll finish this later." She whispered.
