Growing Closer
A famous, yet handsome boy of the age sixteen was lying on his four-poster bed. This boys name was Harry Potter, "The Boy Who Lived" as some people like to refer to him. Harry's green eyes was staring at the curtains surrounding his bed and as he stroke his hand through his messy black hair he couldn't help to think about what his two best friends were up to. Since he, two months ago had found out that Ron and Hermione, his best friends since the age of eleven, was going out he had been suspecting them to sneak away to get some alone time. Harry also suspected that these alone times was about the same thing as snogging times.
Harry himself didn't have a problem with his two best friends going out, he had always known that they liked each other and he was actually happy that they were going out.
Of course things had changed around the Gryffindor Common room now. Since Ron and Hermione had told each other how they felt they didn't fight much at all and instead they were sitting in an armchair, just one armchair, kissing. You could have thought that that bothered Harry, and the truth was that it did. Not much, but some. It wasn't as though he felt alone, or actually he did. He did feel quite alone and that was probably one of the reasons that Harry had grown to spend more time with Ginny.
Ginny, the youngest and the only daughter of the Weasleys, had, like all the Weasleys, flaming, red hair and about a dozen freckles spread across her face. As the youngest child in a family of six older brothers she knew how it could be when you ended up being all alone.
Harry had somehow grown very close to Ginny in only a couple of months and even though he had known her for a long time before that he hadn't really talked to her before, at least not as they were talking now a days. She was not as Hermione, who was almost like the sister Harry never had. Not like Ron either, but like a friend that you could share everything with, and that was actually everything.
Harry's thoughts was soon interrupted by the same girl he was lying there thinking about, Ginny had entered the boys dormitory.
'Hello Harry, I just thought that you might want to have some dinner,' said Ginny smiling.
'Yeah, some dinner would be great. Ron and Hermione are out again aren't they?' said Harry smiling.
'I'm sorry to say that you are right,' said Ginny, who started to walk down the boys stairs.
'Don't be sorry Ginny, be happy,' said Harry grinning widely.
Ginny laughed. She did that a lot. Before they had started to spend more and more time together Harry had never seen her laugh like this. Of course he had seen her laugh, but not like this. It seemed as though being around him had made her happier. It was nice to suspect something like that.
'So dreamy-boy, what are you thinking about?' asked Ginny, Harry was taken by this question.
'Oh, just thinking about all the other dreamy-girls and other dreamy-people that live in my dreamy-world,' said Harry trying to look serious when saying this.
Ginny laughed once again and a smile spread across Harry's face. They had now reached the end of the staircase leading to the entrance hall.
'Hello,' said a dreamy voice that told Harry it was Luna who was talking.
'Hi Luna,' said Ginny.
'What are you up to?' asked Harry.
'Oh, nothing, I just saw you and thought I'd say hello,' said Luna in the same dreamy voice.
'We were just going to have some dinner if you'd excuse us,' said Harry. 'We could catch up with you later though.'
'Yes, that would be fine. What about we meet up by the lake in half an hour?' said Luna.
Ginny nodded and Harry smiled. Since last year he had grown to be friends with Luna. It's hard not be friends with someone that has fought against a couple of deatheaters with you. Harry had also come quite close with Neville. Since Neville, to a lot of peoples surprise, had joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team, playing beater. They spent quite a lot of time together. Neville had even started to get better when it came to school work. He had been able to drop Potions and, had done it without doubt. Even though he had no choice, he would have failed it anyway since Snape scared him to death. But since last term he had been better in almost everything, and he had even told Harry that he had a date the following Saturday, still he hadn't told Harry who he was going on a date with. Harry didn't bother.
'How come you are so dreamy today?' asked Ginny, Harry shook his head.
'What?' he asked.
'You keep drifting away,' said Ginny smiling.
'Oh, I'm just... you know, thinking,' said Harry.
'Thinking are you? Then Mr. Dreamy, what keeps popping into your mind that makes you disappear into another world of dreamy stuff?' asked Ginny trying not to laugh.
'You really want to know?' asked Harry, smiling.
'Yeah,' said Ginny.
'Really, really want to know?' asked Harry still smiling.
'Yes, tell me,' said Ginny grinning.
'OK, I'm thinking about how much things has changed since last year. You know, Ron and Hermione, Luna, Neville, you and me. You never thought that thinks would turn out this way,' said Harry. Ginny looked at him.
'That was, my dear Mr. Potter, was very deep, very deep indeed,' said Ginny. Both of them laughed.
Harry took some mash and sausages and started to eat. He watched Ginny eat her fried potatoes and then, after both of them had finished they hurried outside. When they reached the lake Luna was already standing there.
'Hello,' she said dreamily.
'Hi,' said Harry and Ginny.
'So anything happened to you?' asked Harry, looking at Luna.
'No, nothing. I just saw Ronald and Hermione. They were standing on the other side of the lake before, kissing,' said Luna.
'Oh, OK,' said Ginny. 'Since they are going out it's kind of normal.'
The very tiny smile that had crossed Luna's face disappeared at Ginny's words. Harry was shocked by Luna's reaction. Ginny seemed to have the same reaction as Harry. Ginny looked at Harry who shrugged. She turned back to Luna.
'Luna, d'you...do you like Ron?' asked Ginny. Luna shook her head.
'I did at first, but there was no point in liking him because, you know. Everyone could tell that he liked Hermione,' said Luna. Harry was really shocked by these words, Luna had fancied Ron.
'OK, but you don't like him anymore?' said Ginny, also a bit stunned.
'No, as I said there is no point in that,' said Luna smiling.
'No there isn't,' said Harry. 'Everyone knows that he's crazy about Hermione.'
Luna nodded. 'Yes, I wouldn't say that he fancies her, I'd say that he's in love with her. He maybe even loves her.'
"She almost sounds like Professor Trelawney" thought Harry. Then he looked over the lake. What if what Luna said was true, what if Ron and Hermione didn't just like each other, what if they actually loved each other? What if they got married? What would happen with him, Harry?
'Harry?'
Harry's thoughts were once again interrupted by the same person, Ginny. Harry looked at her. She looked a bit scared. Luna had started to walk away, heading back to the castle, looking dreamy.
'Harry, what's wrong?' she asked him. Harry knew he could trust her with everything, but with this?
'Err- Ginny, do you think, do you think Luna's right? About Ron and Hermione?' he asked his friend.
'I suppose so; I mean they really do like each other. I think that there is a chance that they might love each other. A very big chance,' said Ginny. Harry sighed.
'What?' asked Ginny. Harry looked at her.
'You know, look at us now, and look at the two of them. What if they get married, what will happen with me? What will I do?' said Harry glancing at the lake.
Ginny thought for a moment, looking over at the lake. Then she looked at him.
'You would be happy for them,' she said. 'You would stand there, by Ron's side, waiting to hand the ring over to him, waiting for him to be the happiest guy in the world.'
Harry smiled and nodded in agreement. 'Yeah, that's what I'll do", but then his smile suddenly disappeared, "but after that?'
'I don't know,' said Ginny. Harry looked at her. It's strange that he hadn't realized just how pretty she was.
'I do,' he suddenly said.
Ginny looked at him surprised. 'You do?' she asked.
'Yeah, I'll stand at the same spot, maybe a year after. Ron handing me the ring, I'll place it on her finger,' he said. 'The priest telling me I can kiss her. I'll look into her eyes, lifting up her chin a little-' as he was saying this he followed his words. Then he pressed his lips against hers. They broke apart.
'-kissing her,' he finished.
