Summer was using my chest to hide her face.

Any other time, I would have loved it.

Any other time, I would have been slightly nervous about it.

But I couldn't enjoy this.

And I wasn't tense or uneasy about it.

It felt like the right thing – the only thing – to do.

Summer needed someone to steady her.

Someone to protect her.

Someone that could hide her teary-eyed face.

Someone that could keep her from seeing what she clearly didn't need to see.
