He remembers the way it used to be. Before Max came into their lives. When things were still good. He remembers the way her hair looked (so straight and shiny) and smelled (just like apples and some kind of flower- what was that shampoo, anyway?), and felt (so soft and silky). He remembers her soft laugh, whenever they got to a good part in the movie they were watching, or whenever he told a joke. He remembers when she used to listen to everything he said, and went to all his games, and smiled when she saw him, and waited for him after class. Before he'd catch her talking to that Max guy all the time, much more time than is needed to work on a sciene project. Before she broke up with him, before he followed her and Max to some hotel room in the middle of nowhere.
He remembers everything, the way it used to be. But it doesn't matter anymore, because it was, and it was before his life shattered.
