Legolas was walking in the woods near his home in Mirkwood. He was caring his bow and his quiver full of arrows, as well as his twin, ivory handled daggers. In Mirkwood, you must be prepared at all times and alert.
Listening, he heard the wind flying through the branches and the life of the forest going about their usual routine and, it calmed the young elf. For the moment, he was free of the shouting of the palace and the rules of his father. He found that the forest calmed him when a hunt was in progress or that he just needed to get away from his father.
Hearing movement behind him, he turned with his bow drawn and arrow notched, stood staring at a very large and ugly spider. Legolas loosened his arrow and missed? His prey had moved at the last second and was now moving toward him at unthinkable speed. The creature was beginning to wrap him in its sticky thread be for he knew it. Legolas grabbed one of his twin daggers and cut him self loose. Then he turned to face the spider.
Its mouth was open to spit its lethal venom and Legolas could see four-inch fangs on its upper and lower jaws. Its venom hit Legolas's eyes and blinded him, sending him to the ground. Thankfully his other senses were heightened for he would have perished at the last attack the massive spider sent his way. Calculating the movements that was the spiders, he lunged straight above him and heard the spider cry a heart wrenching scream and fall dead beside him, but not with out raking his chest, and legs with its barbed legs and his arm with its fangs. Then he fell into darkness. 'May the valor keep my soul.' Was his last contous thought.
