Disclaimer: Diane Duane is not me!
A/N: I got this idea from the beginning of a Wizard's Holiday. I haven't finished, so please don't spoil any for me! This will be another long chapter fic, and there's going to be a bit more humor in it.
Summary: Some unseen force transforms Spot (yes, the manual) into a human. While the young wizards try to figure out how, Spot is experiencing the chance of a lifetime: actually having a life! Dairine/Spot, Nita/Kit
One
Humans
Dairine muttered a few expletives when she woke up early on Saturday morning, Nita shaking her with as much force as possible in at 7:00 a.m. "Dairine! Get your butt out of bed! We have a problem!" This sparked Dairine's short attention span, and she sat up, flicking her sister's hands away from her tired body.
"What is it Neets? Did you suddenly figure out there was no school to--"
"Spot's missing."
Dairine was out of bed in a little under two seconds. "He's WHAT? Nita, he should be right on my de--" Nita gestured lamely to Dairine's work desk, a new one that her father had bought for her a month before. Where Spot should've been was a ring of dust, and a lame-lying cable that was supposed to be recharging the machine.
"See what I'm talking about? Now get dressed!" Nita shoved her sister into her closet and left, but was joined quickly on the stairway by the younger wizard, who was frantically shoving her other arm into the neck hole. Nita sighed and helped Dairine undo the scramble she was in, and then they both turned on their heels and started looking.
Kit watched them looking with slight amusement, tapping his finger lightly on the counter top. Finally Dairine noticed he was not helping them look for the most important thing in her life, and then her eyes took in his smirk.
"Hey, El NiƱo, why aren't you helping?" Dairine asked impatiently, and Kit shot Nita a glare for teaching her sister the god-awful nickname. His glare soon returned to that unnerving smirk, and he just sighed and shook his head in disappointment, getting down from the stool he'd been sitting on, and gesturing under the counter.
"Voila." He muttered, and Dairine and Nita rushed towards him, nearly bowling him over.
Dairine rolled her eyes. "Kit, come on, that's just a boy--" Dairine stopped mid thought and turned back to the blubbering mass of human under the counter top. "Spot?!"
The boy looked up in surprise, which changed to happiness when he saw Dairine. Popping up from his position--he bumped his head on the counter and let out a howl of pain, his ten fingers wiggling relentlessly, and looking similar to that of Spot the computer's own ten legs.
"That's Spot all right," Kit muttered, "only human."
Spot looked up with crystal blue eyes, and opened his mouth, an odd whirring sound coming from seemingly nowhere. Then a voice, slow like molasses, came from the still shivering boy. "E-error. D-doesn't c-comply w-w-w-with normal f-functions."
"You mean being human, I suspect." Nita commented dryly.
Then everything about this current situation hit home.
"WHAT THE HELL?!"
!!
A/N: This is going to be a short-chapter fic, okay? That way I can update faster. So chapters will be short, but this fic will end up being pretty long.
Review please!
