Things Happen For a Reason

Chapter 4

For the second time that day someone knocked in the door leading to Hermione´s room. Hermione looked up, shook her head and looked back into the book she was reading. There was another knock.

'Come on in Gin!' shouted Hermione.

The door opened slowly and Ginnys head popped inside Hermione´s room.

'There is someone here to see you Hermione,' said Ginny.

'Who is it Gin?' asked Hermione still looking down at her book.

'Someone I think you want to see,' said Ginny. Hermione looked up.

'No?' she said and shook her head. 'Why is he here?'

'He's here to see you, I don't know why. Just because he's my brother doesn't mean I can read his mind... I'm glad I can't,' said Ginny.

'OK... tell him to come in here,' said Hermione. Ginny nodded and disappeared out of site. Then the door opened again, this time there was a male head that popped inside.

'Hi Hermione,' said Ron.

'Hi Ron, why are you here?' asked Hermione

'I needed to talk to you,' said Ron. 'That kiss-'

'Look Ron if-' said Hermione but Ron cut her off.

'That kiss was great, I mean it. I think I really needed that or I might have made a huge mistake in my life,' he said.

'What mistake?' asked Hermione.

'Giving you up for forever. Forgetting how much I've always loved you,' said Ron. 'Pushing away the feelings that's always been there.'

'How come you haven't told me before?' asked Hermione.

'We're best friends, we're not suppose to be in love with each other-'

'Some things we can't decide for ourselves, they just happen,' said Hermione.

'Yeah, so what do we do?' asked Ron.

'I think the question is; what do you do?' said Hermione. Ron smiled.

'I asked Harry that question. He gave me answer and I followed it,' he said.

'What did he tell you?' asked Hermione.

'Well, first he seemed quite happy over the thought that I had kissed you, I didn't know what he was on about. Then he told me that I should follow my heart and my dream, to do what felt right. I got up and headed towards the door,' said Ron. 'When I was about to leave he asked me who of the two of you that make my stomach feel as though it's full of butterflies whenever she's near? And what kiss was the best, the first one with Melinda or the first one with you.'

Hermione looked at Ron, eagerly to her the rest.

'What did you do then?' she asked.

'I went to Melinda's place. All the way over there I thought about all the things that Harry had told me, and there was just one answer to every little thing he had said. The butterflies, the kiss, my dream and the right thing to do had one answer,' said Ron.

'What was it?' she asked. Ron could tell from the look on Hermione´s face that she was so nervous to hear the rest.

'You,' he said. 'The one that makes my stomach feel as though it's full of butterflies when ever she's near is you. The best first kiss was with you, my dream has always included you and the right thing to do was to choose you.'

When he had finished Hermione was close to tears.

'So when I came to Melinda's place I broke up with her,' said Ron.

'What did she say?' asked Hermione.

'She asked me why, told me that she hoped that I had a damn good reason for breaking up with her,' he said. 'I told her the truth, I had the best reason in the entire world to break up with her, and it was so simple. She's just not you.'

When Ron had finished his last sentence Hermione got up from her bed and walked up to Ron. While reaching him she kissed him passionately. He kissed her back. When they broke apart Hermione was the first one to speak.

'It took us nine years to figure out that the person we loved the most had been right in front of us the entire time,' she said. Ron smiled.

'It didn't take us that long to figure it out just to do something about it,' he said before Hermione shut him up by pressing her lips on top of his. While doing this the door opened and Ginny stepped inside. She let out a shriek.

'Finally!' she shouted. 'I knew this was coming!'

Hermione and Ron broke apart and looked at the enthused Ginny.

'Gin,' said Ron. Ginny looked at him knowingly and walked out of the room and closed the door.

'So what do we do?' asked Hermione.

'We don't have any time to waste do we?' said Ron. 'We have nine years to live for right?'

'I guess so,' said Hermione. She looked questionably at Ron.

'Let's just do the usual girlfriend-boyfriend stuff, shall we?' said Ron.

'What?' asked Hermione.

'What do you mean?' asked Ron. Then something hit him. 'You never...?'

'No,' said Hermione.

'So you told the truth all the time, Krum never was your boyfriend.' Hermione nodded.

'I've gone out with loads of guys lately, but one date and then I had enough. I didn't think there was a point in going out with all those guys if I all ready knew who I wanted,' said Hermione.

'So, want to go to the Three Broomsticks?' asked Ron. 'I haven't been there for a really long time.'

Hermione smiled and nodded. This was why she loved him.
