Steve Payne stared at the monstrosity lying on the table in front of him. It was like a train wreck. He just couldn't take his eyes off of it. The huge black eyes almost looked like they were staring back at him. Whatever it was, human was not it. It was shaped like a man with two arms and two legs. That was about all that was man like. The bulbous head reminded Steve of those Martian pictures. That was it. A giant Martians from outer space were invading. He broke out laughing.
"May I ask what is funny about this situation?" Albus asked. He looked concerned fro his old friend.
"I was thinking about that looks just like a giant Martian. Wands versus death rays. Just think of the headlines. Aliens attack, wizards defended the planet." Steve had to sit down and catch his breath.
"At least, you haven't lost your sense of humor. Do you know what that would be?" Albus pointed to the creature.
"Not a clue." Steve was still chuckling. "It looks like something I should know, but I just can't remember." He turned and started into the shadows for a moment. "Lan, do you know?"
"My adopted family called them LaShanora. Wizards of old called them, Doppler grangers. They were believed to be destroyed."
"Do you know how they were killed off?" Steve asked.
"The LaShana feuded with them. It is said that Morgan le Fay gave them power to defeat their brotherin, but were betrayed. Merlin aided the LaShana. Ask Tonks about it." Lan melded back into the shadows.
"I will do that as soon as we locate her and Harry." Albus said. "For now, we need to learn if where the minister is located."
"I think we need to just find his body first." Steve muttered.
Harry was enjoying the view from the MGM Grand hotel. The Las Vegas strip was sprinkling with millions of lights. People were walking about like little ants on the street below. He could almost feel the energy seeping up from the casino below. It wasn't a magical force that he was used too, but it was energy all to itself.
"Harry! Where are you?" Mrs. Nymphadora Tonks-Potter yelled. Harry smiled at the thought of his wife being in the next room. His wife.
"I'm outside, Mrs. Potter." Harry smiled. He just liked the ring of that.
"Oh. I like that." Tonks said as she slid her arms around him. She stole a quick kiss. "And just what were you thinking about?"
"Hogwarts." Harry sighed. Tonks looked into his eyes. She could see his fear and nervousness. "I don't want to return there. After everything that I did, how can they accept me back."
"Then don't. If I remember correctly, you are quite wealthy. It's not like you need your NEWTs." Tonks started to finish that thought when she saw the look in Harry's eyes. Time for a different approach. "You do know that you can test early. I'm sure you have enough memories in your head to pass a couple of them." The change of Harry's face sent a wave of relief thru Tonks.
"Really? I didn't know that. What do I have to do?"
"Talk to Professor Dumbledore. He can approve it. I'm sure they will let the man-who-killed-you-know-who take his tests early." Tonks joked about the nickname one of the American newspapers called Harry. He groaned.
"That name is worst than the boy-who-lived. No name should make you take a breath to finish a title."
"At least, they got the man part right." Tonks giggled. "Why don't we go finish our honeymoon and worry about everything tomorrow."
Jason was looking at the Potter's hotel door. He really didn't want to go in there. Play the part of a pet was not something he had enjoyed. And as much as he hated it, he was scared of Harry. Summoning up his nerve, he started to knock. The door opened. He looked and didn't see anyone. So, he walked in.
"Good morning, Jason." Harry said from the couch.
Jason looked around the room. It was just as he had expected it. The couch was the only thing on all fours. The tables were either over turned or broken. It wasn't hard to figure out that these two lovebirds had 'enjoyed' their evening.
"Morning to you two. I see you had a good night." Jason tried to say it lightly, but his fear came out.
"Jason, have a seat. We have to talk." Harry smiled.
"If it's about this collar and I'm all ears." Jason said.
"Don't worry about the collar. Harry will take it off. Won't you." Tonks stated. It really wasn't a question.
"Of course." Harry snapped his fingers. The collar slowly turned to dust and vanished into an unseen breeze. "All free. Now about you working for me." Jason froze for a moment. His freedom was complete as soon as he could run for it.
"Job?"
"Good. Glad to hear you accept. I made this up. Just sign down here." Harry handed him a quill and parchment.
"What is it?" Jason asked, as he was about to sign it.
"Harry. Stop it." Tonks scowled.
"What?" Harry looked at Tonks. He tried to look like an innocent child and failed. Jason shook himself. He could feel something retreating from his mind.
"HEY!" Jason jumped to his feet. He shook the parchment at Harry. "You aren't going to trick me." He ran outside to the balcony and dove off. CRACK! He was gone.
Harry and Tonks watched him jump. Neither of them moved to stop him. They just watched in fascination.
"Harry that wasn't nice." Tonks said as she walked over to window.
"I know, but we really do need his services. At least he took the contract." Harry grinned.
"What was on that anyway?"
"Just a few charms. He has to read it now or he can never put it down. Shall we retire to the bedroom? I'm feeling randy." Harry jumped up and ran after Tonks. She giggled and ran away.
Hours later, Tonks calmed her loving husband. Together they made a plan.
Albus Dumbledore was sitting in his office. The last month had been world changing. Reflecting back, he just didn't understand how everything could have worked out like it did. Harry and Tonks were still missing. Tom was dead. Most of the death eaters had been captured or killed. A major scandal at the ministry had been discovered. A new minister of magic had to be nominated. An auror had been transfigured into a walking bush and no one had been able to undo it. Minerva was helping out with him, so his deputy headmistress was no there to help send out the school letters.
Albus smiled as Fawkes sang a soothing melody.
"Lemon drop?" A voice asked. Albus's eyes sprang open. He hadn't heard anyone enter his office. The wards should have warned him. His wand magically appeared in his hand. A man and woman were sitting in one of his chairs. It had been enlarged so they could share it. They were grinning at him. The man was young, about twenty. His long red hair was covering most of his face. He looked like a Weasley, but not one that he had ever seen before. The woman was slender and gorgeous. Something was familiar about them.
"How did you get in here?" Albus asked.
"The door. Isn't that how most people get in here? I know we could have taken the chimney." The man said.
"But the fireplace is dirty." The woman explained. They both shared a laugh. Fawkes flew over and land between them. If Fawkes trusted them, then they were not enemies.
"Well, may I ask how I may be of service?" Albus decided on another line of attack.
"Sure. How do I get you to waver two years of schooling for a student?" The man asked.
"Why would you want that?" Albus asked. His estimation of the man's age was wrong. He sent out tendrils of thought. The man grinned as they brushed against his mind. Albus's mind fell into a vast void of nothingness. It was almost as if the man's mind was not there.
"Really Albus. You shouldn't pry into someone's mind. It's just not polite." The man said. Albus was shocked. He had never met anyone who could empty their mind to such a point. For a moment, he was confused. Then, he noticed the woman was also confused. He sent his thought to her mind. He could hear and feel the woman admire Fawkes. He started to search for her name when another presence forced him out. "I've never seen you be this rude."
"I'm sorry. With the past couple of weeks, you can't be too careful. May I have your names?"
"How about you tell us our names?" The man grinned. "I just love games." The woman slapped him in the shoulder. "Come on. You know you are enjoying this as much as I am. Just a quick game of twenty questions? Please?"
Albus would have laughed. The man now looked like a small child. He could almost swear the man had shrunk. The puppy dog eyes were too much for them both. The woman threw up her hands and went back to petting Fawkes.
"Twenty questions. Only yes or no answers to be given." The man stated.
"Shall we begin then?" Albus asked.
"First answer, yes." The man grinned.
"Have we ever met?"
"Second answer, yes."
"Were you one of my students?"
"Third answer, no." The man smiled. The woman looked up at that answer. Albus knew that he had made a mistake. Bad question.
"Did you ever attend Hogwarts?"
"Fourth answer, yes. Really, already to four and you still don't have a clue. You're slipping."
"Is this your real form?"
"Fifth answer, yes." The man laughed. The woman groaned and buried her face into Fawkes. Albus took out a lemon drop and popped it in his mouth. The pressures and stress of the past couple of days were wearing him ragged. He wasn't thinking properly. He studied the man for a few moments. He sent out his magic. There was something about them. The woman had a faint aura that Albus recognized. She was a Metamorphmagus. He was sure of that. The man was another matter.
"Is this the same way you looked when I last saw you?"
"Very good. You're catching on. Sixth answer, no." The man winked.
"Are you a LaShana?"
"Oh. I thought you were so close. Seventh answer, no." The man was bouncing up and down in the chair. The woman elbowed him in the ribs.
"Can we stop this? We have business to take care of." She muttered.
"You were the one that talked me thru by fears and worries. After all of those hours, this is what you created. Now be a good wife and let me have some fun." He kissed her cheek.
"A good wife. Just you wait till we get in private buster."
"Should I leave you two alone?" Albus asked.
"Eighth answer, no." They both grinned at him.
"See. I told you he would fall for it." She laughed.
"Thanks for being gullible. I just lost a bet. Wait a sec. Thanks." The man's eyes brightened at some thought. Albus tried again to get some feeling from the man, but nothing was there. It was truly fascinating.
They were toying with him. Albus was confused. It had been a long time since someone had been able to do this to him. Slowly pulling some magic into him. He slowly started disenchanting the man. It had to be a clever disguise. With a subtle wave of his hand, all active magic on the man was dispelled.
"Really. Was that necessary?" The man asked. His form started to change. The red hair turned lightened. The freckles on his face faded. The man closed his eyes. The transformation stopped. Albus watched as his spell was absorbed. That was the only way to describe it. The magic simply enters into the man and didn't work.
"How did you do that?" Albus asked.
"Ninth answer, invalid question." Albus wasn't going to be toyed with any longer. He sent out active magical probes. The man was absorbing them too fast for him to get much information. One of his probes hit the man in the face. For a moment, Albus slipped behind the defenses. He scanned the man. Not much could be learned in the few moments he had, but something was familiar to him. He searched thru his memory for it. Severus. That feeling was from a scan he did of Severus. The dark mark was present.
Albus stood up. His aura flared for a moment. "Are you a death eater?"
"What?" The woman yelled.
"Tenth answer. NEVER!" The man's aura flared in response. Albus studied it.
"Harry?"
"Eleventh answer, about time." Harry said. His face changed back to normal.
"Harry. Thank god. Where have you been?" Albus sat down.
"Las Vegas. Tonks and me got hitched." Harry smiled.
"What? But you are underage. You can't get married."
"Ever heard of emancipation. The Dursley's signed all of the documents. I'm free of them forever."
"I didn't see the paperwork. Why would the ministry approve that?" Albus asked.
"The ministry didn't. I am a citizen of the England. I went to them. The ministry has no say about what the muggles do." Harry laughed.
"I'm sorry to tell you, but it doesn't work like that. You are a wizard. The wizengamot has to approve it." Albus informed Harry.
"Really. So you are saying that wizard law is higher that the Queen's law?" Harry asked.
"Not at all. Wizards govern and judge themselves. We have our own laws that must to lived up too." Albus defended.
"Sorry to say it, but it doesn't really matter." Tonks said.
"Why is that?" Albus asked.
"Cause, Harry is one of the most powerful wizards in the world. Are you going to be the one to arrest me for being with his wife?" Albus stared into two black pools of darkness that were Tonks' eyes. He had heard of LaShana doing that. Tonks and Harry was a mated couple now. No force of earth could keep them separated.
"Really. I didn't realize that things had progressed to this point." Albus said. "How far along are you?" Harry was confused for a moment. How did he know? Oh yeah, Poppy must have told him.
"Three weeks." Tonks blushed.
"Well, this changes things. I will talk with the Wizengamot about making everything legal in the wizarding world. I will also see about getting you the waver for the NEWTs. We also have to talk about your escape from the Ministry."
"Great. Set up that meeting for this weekend. Make sure all of the Weasleys and DA members are there." Harry said. He hopped up and shook Albus's hand. "Well, we have to be going. Bye." With a puff of smoke, they were gone. Albus didn't really know exactly what just happened. It was an interesting feeling. Normally he was the one causing the confusion.
Albus sat there for a long time. Thinking over everything. Harry and Tonks were mated and married now. After ten minutes of just thinking, he pulled a form from his desk. At the top, he filled in Harry's information for the consent form to take the NEWTs. It was going to be another long and exhausting day at the Ministry.
The Weasley were all excited about today. Albus asked them to visit Hogwarts, because Harry was going to be there. Molly was glad to hear that Harry was safe. Hermione, Ron and Ginny were just looking forward to see their friend again. Fred and George were gathering a massive care package with all of the WWW goodies.
"Everyone. It's time. Bill, go get Charlie and Percy. We can't take everyone with this portkey. You three will have to apparate." Molly informed her family.
"No problem, mum." Bill replied.
"Good. Everyone gather around." The rest of the family and Hermione all touched a muggle paperback book that Arthur was trying to read.
"Really wonderful book to read. I've learned a lot." Arthur winked at Molly. Hermione noticed that the book was a cheesy romance novel. She had to wonder what Arthur had learned, and then she shuddered. She didn't want to think about his best friend's parents that way.
"Ready, phoenix." The familiar pull on the navel meant they were under way.
Harry and Tonks were sitting in the Three Broomsticks. They were enjoying a cup of butter beer. Harry knew that Tonks was nervous about something.
"Baby. What's wrong?" He finally asked.
Tonks closed her eyes for a moment, and then looked into her lover's eyes. "I don't think you should tell everyone about us just yet."
"Why not? I'm happy we are married." Harry replied. "Aren't you?"
Tonks grabbed Harry's hand. "Of course, I am. It's just that everything else just seems so much more important. You are going to drop a lot of bombshells today. I just don't think that you should tell them."
"I have to tell the Weasleys and Hermione. They deserve to know." Harry said quietly. "I won't tell the order." Tonks let lose a breath that she didn't realize she was holding.
"Good." Tonks leaned in for a quick kiss. "It's almost time."
"Yeah, let's go." They held hands all the way up to the castle. A couple of other people were also headed that way. Harry and Tonks knew they were order members. Everyone wondered who they were. Both of them were in disguise. Harry was once more a Weasley look alike. Tonks looks a lot like Molly in her late teens. A couple of people in Hogsmeade had looked at them twice to make sure they weren't seeing a ghost.
All was well until they reached the castle's front door. Severus Snape was checking the 'guests' in. "I'm sorry, but the castle is closed."
"You just let those people in. Why do you just let us by too?" Harry asked.
"They were invited. You were not."
"Really. I guess we will have to go back to the bar." Tonks replied. She took Harry's arm and started to lead him away. "I wonder how your meeting is going to go without us. Well, have fun waiting." Harry understands the game she was playing.
"When Albus asks, we are down at the bar. Have a nice day." Harry smiled and started to walk away.
"Wait. Who are you?" Snape commanded. Harry and Tonks turned back to him. He placed his hand on his forehead touching the scar. An all to familiar burn cause Severus to gasp. "Potter." He spat.
"That's me. You do know that I have a first name." Harry said cheekily. His disguise melted away. "Bet you a galleon you don't know it?"
Snape looked confused. "It's Harry."
"Wow. You do know my name. I thought for sure you were going to say James." Harry flipped a galleon to the slimy potion master. Snape caught it by reflex. "You know you really shouldn't take things from people. You never know what might be one them." Harry and Tonks laughed at his face. They walked into the castle as Snape tried to figure out to drop the coin. It was stuck to his hand.
They entered the Great Hall with a bang of the doors. "Let the debriefing begin." Harry yelled. Everyone stopped talking. Ron, Hermione, and Ginny ran to Harry. The girls both gave him a huge hug. Tonks didn't like that much. Ron just shook his hand. "Stop. You can yell at me later."
He walked to the head table. "I'm sure you all have some questions. Headmaster, why don't you start?"
Albus Dumbledore nodded his head. "I think we all would like to know who rescued you from the ministry?" Several people nodded their heads.
"That would have been the LaShana. Tonks and Jason lead them. For those of you who didn't pay attention, they are shape shifters. Normally very peaceful, but right now, they are in a war. However, that is a story for another time. Next question, Albus, please choose someone else."
Albus smiled. The order was confused by Harry leading the meeting. "Steve Payne."
Steve stood up. "Mr. Potter, where did they get all of those magic guns? There aren't more than a hundred or two in the world."
"Mr. Payne. I don't know where you got your information but there are thousand of millions in the world. The trick isn't getting the guns. It's finding the right wizard to enchant them. I happen to know someone who knows someone. Next questioner, please."
"Lan."
"Will you show us how you did some of the things you did?" Lan asked. To a few people in the room, that was more than they had ever heard him speak.
"At this time, no. I am planning to do some training soon. I will be happy to invite you along."
Lan pointed to a stout young man.
"Hi, Harry. Where have you been hiding?" Neville Longbottom asked.
"Hi, Neville. I was on holiday. We went to Nevada in the States. It's pretty. You should go sometime. Just remember to watch for one-armed bandits. Pick someone else."
"Madam Bones."
"Thank you, Mr. Longbottom. Now that the dark lord is gone, what are your plans?" Amelia Bones asked.
"Who said Tom was gone?" Harry asked. The room became deadly quiet. "Tom is alive. I just imprisoned him." Everyone broke out in questions.
Albus stood up. The entire room quieted down. "What do you mean Harry?"
"Albus, didn't you ever wonder why you lived so long?" Harry countered.
"Of course. However, the more powerful the wizard, the longer they live."
"True. The average witch or wizard does live longer. You have are still spry and alive as a fifty year old. The answer is Fawkes. If I were to be able to kill Fawkes, you would die." The crowd gasped. It just couldn't be true.
"Nagini." Albus muttered.
"Got it in one. Nagini has to die first. That damn snake is the keystone to Tom's mortality." Harry stood up. "Right now, Tom is trapped inside a dementor. We have to keep a sharp eye on it. Madam Bones, I need your aid from the Ministry. Do I have it?"
Madam Bones glared at Harry for a moment. She didn't enjoy being put on the spot like this, especially when she knew she had no choice. "Of course."
"Good. First, move that dementor to another location. Tom is going to want out. We have to keep him trapped while the hunt for Nagini continues."
"Continues?" Snape asked.
"Yes. Did you think I was just laying around a hotel my entire holiday? It was a working holiday. Don't get me wrong. There was a lot of 'playtime.'" Tonks blushed as Harry winked at her. "I have a couple of plans. The Order and Ministry will have to help us with them."
"And just when did you take over the Order?" Snape asked.
"I didn't. The Order and Ministry can be my allies. Trust me. I make a great ally or a terrible enemy. You decide." The room became deadly quiet. The look on Snape's face was priceless. He wasn't ready for Harry to talk back to him like that. He was about to snarl a rude comment when he noticed Harry's right hand. A small ball of purplish-red fire hovered in his palm. Slowly, Snape looked into Harry's eyes. There was no anger, no rage, no nothing. He was waiting. He was neutral about it. Snape knew with every fiber of his being that the wrong word spoken would be the end of his being.
"I don't have to like it." Snape said. The ball of deadly power faded from Harry's hand. Snape felt relief surge thru his body.
"Good. Trust is a powerful thing. I don't like you. Never have. I can respect you for your potion and spying skills. I can trust you to do what was right. But always remember, I will kill anyone who hurts me or what's mine."
"Now, now. Harry there is no reason to speak like that." Molly said.
"Molly mum." Harry said. Molly blushed at those words. "Shut it." She gasped. "The past is the past. I am no longer the person you knew. I have lived with the souls of men trapped deep inside of me. I have their memories. I've killed."
"Mr. Potter. You defended yourself." Minerva started to say. Harry cut her off.
"Really. I remember walking toward the Riddle house. I remember pushing the button to detonate the explosions. I remember the feel of my blade as I cut their throats. I remember the killing. Don't even start old man." Harry looked directly at Albus. "I was destined to be a weapon for the light. That weapon I have became. Now it is time to finish what I started. Snape, go back to the death eaters. Find out who yet lives. Payne and Bones, go the ministry. Restore order. Albus you should go with them. Your present will help. The rest of you go to your friends. Talk to them. Gather everyone. The war is not over. Some of the players have changed, but fight they will. And fight we must."
The Weasleys, Hermione, Harry, and Tonks were eating a quiet dinner. Everyone was thinking over what Harry had said. Shocked was one word for it. Harry was counting. Hermione must be thinking up a whooper of a rant.
"Harry." Hermione finally said.
"Let me guess. It was wrong to kill all of those people. Some of them could have been under the imperious. They could have been forced to be there." Harry looked directly into her eyes. "Trust me. I've thought of it all. One day, I will have to pay for the evil that I have done in the name of the light. And on the day, I will pay with my soul."
The words rocked everyone. All of the women had tears in their eyes. Bill and Charlie both looked at each other. Bill nodded his head.
"So Harry. I understand you are a pretty good seeker." Charlie asked.
"Really. Thinking of sports at a time like this." Molly began. Arthur put his hand on her shoulder. A silent conversation between the two last a few moments. She looked mad, but held her tongue.
"That's right. I remember hearing the same thing. I think we should have a seeker duel." Bill smiled.
"Too right." The twins joined in.
"To the patch. Come on, Harry." Charlie grabbed his arm and out the door they went. As they were walking down the trail, Harry finally spoke up.
"How about we make this interesting?"
"How so? Little wager, maybe?" Bill asked.
"I was thinking of blunders. I get Fred. You get George. And don't say anything about getting a better or worse beater. Their skill level is perfectly matched." Harry said.
"And the bet?" Charlie asked. "I just happened to have a couple galleons on me."
"Ok. What are the odds? Anyone know?" Harry asked. By the look on the twin's face, April's fools had come early.
"The goblins had Harry at an 5 to 1 lead."
"Bagman put Harry at 6 to 1."
"Really?" Charlie looked shocked.
"What? Is that bad?" Harry asked.
"Harry. I would have to bet five galleons just to win one. You are a sure thing." Bill explained. A couple of friendly bets were placed.
"Shall we start?" Ron asked. He kicked the truck open. "One minute start for the snitch. Everyone take your places. Go!"
Harry and Charlie flew up like they were shot from a cannon. Both of them were riding Firebolts, so neither at a broom advantage. The twins were both on their old school brooms. Harry was right. They were evenly matched. Neither could trick the other, so the blunders were basically not there.
Harry and Charlie both were cruising high to see as much of the pitch as possible. For about five minutes, they just watched. Harry dove. Charlie didn't think twice. He was right on his tail. The sheer speed of the broom added with gravity made them both into a blur. The skill of both riders was tested as they skimmed the grass. Both riders left grooves where their knees rubbed the ground. Harry pointed at the ground afterward. They shared a laugh for a moment.
Charlie stared at the four grooves. He had never been that close before. The thought of ramming the ground had never entered his mind. He was only after the snitch.
"Enough playing around." Charlie muttered. He shot off toward the far goals. Harry tore off after him. Charlie reached out and grabbed a goal pole. He felt the muscles in his shoulder scream. The pole flexed but held. He whiplashes back the direction he came. Harry was surprised. He had never seen that move.
Charlie shot back across the pitch. He looked back to see Harry fly thru a hoop. He was even more surprised when Harry grabbed the top of the hoop. The pole bent and flicked Harry back his way. Harry yelled as he soared down the pitch.
Charlie was shocked. Harry had done it, and done it better than he did.
Harry was lovely the surge of speed that the goal pole added to his flight. He cursed when he saw the snitch fly by. His speed was too high to turn.
Charlie saw it. The snitch was just inches away. He lay down on his broom and reached out. Just inches more.
Harry pulled up. He gained a lot of height. Charlie was close. Only one-way to win, he jumped. Like a cliff diver, Harry tucked in his arms and dove. Everyone on the ground screamed. Harry flew past Charlie. Charlie just saw a flash of black and the snitch was gone. He looked down to see Harry falling to the ground. Harry rolled around to be facing up. He held out the snitch and laughed.
Everyone watched as Harry plumbed to the ground. Yelling and screaming, no one pulled his or her wands. Like a train wreck, they watched as Harry impacted into the ground and bounced.
"NOOO!" Tonks yelled as Harry bounced and bounced. He seemed to be gaining height. They all began deadly quiet as Harry laughed and bounced on the ground like a trampoline. He broom flew into his hand and he hovered there. "He is going to pay for that one."
Harry held up the snitch and smiled. Everyone stared for moment and then began cheering. The smile on Harry's face fell away. They watched as he fell again. They didn't think anything of it. Only this time, he didn't bounce. He just lay there.
Harry Potter dies from an assassin. That would be the headline the next morning. The whole world would learn that a muggle sniper rifle had done what no wizard could do. Kill Harry Potter.
Albus was gloom. Harry was dead. By the fates, he shouldn't be. He walked to the hospital wing. Tonks had not left his side. The Weasley plus the brown head one were still there. No one spoke since Poppy declared him gone. They turned and stared. They were waiting.
"I don't know what to say." Albus said without a word spoken. They continued their silent vigil of his body. As the sun dipped behind the globe, a phoenix song could be heard. Fawkes and dozens of other phoenixes broke thru windows. They literally filled the room with joyous music. The magical birds started carrying everyone out.
It was quite a sight to see in Hogsmeade that day. A dozen phoenixes dropped off people in the court hall. No sooner had they landed did they took off running back to Hogwarts. Poppy yelled when she saw her precious hospital wing pumping out smoke and flames.
Albus lead them to the entrance of the hospital wing. "STOP!" He commanded. He placed his hand to the door. He was warm. "We have to wait."
"But Harry and Tonks are in there." Hermione cried.
"There is nothing we can do until they are finished." Albus calmly summoned a big comfy chair. With a shish and flick, a thermometer appeared on the door. It read four hundred and eighty-two degrees. For over an hour, they watched the gauge rise.
"Shouldn't the door be on fire?" Hermione asked.
"Yes, it should be." Minerva answered.
"I thought all the doors were charmed against fire." Molly stated.
"They are. However, no charmed door can stand up to that temperature forever." Albus countered. "Most of the doors were enchanted over a thousand years ago. They could handle the heat. This door was replaced in 1948. It should have burned thru about seventeen minutes ago."
BOOM!
The entire countryside shook. The thermometer read seventy one degrees. They ran into the room. To see, Tonks being carried away by a giant golden phoenix. The entire wing was in perfect condition. Arthur pulled his neat muggle toy out. It was a pair of binoculars. He stared for a moment.
"What do you see?" Molly asked.
"She was carrying a child." Arthur whispered.
A/N: Thanks folks. This is the end of Hero Reborn. The title should have given everything away. Like I would ever kill Harry off. Ok. I did in Intertwined Fate, but this is Reborn. I even made a HR2 possible. lol
