Asuma has the uncomfortable feeling that he is being watched. Analyzed.

Judged.

Shikamaru is on the other side of the goban, beating him much more thoroughly than usual but looking less bored than he has in weeks. Asuma wonders what the boy is thinking, but he wonders thing like that often. Did Shikamaru recognize that IQ test for what it was, way back then? Did he have any ulterior motive for accepting the chuunin rank despite his disinterest in the responsibility? Does he ever wonder what Asuma is thinking? Or does he already know?

Shikamaru is still watching. Analyzing.
