Fallen Teardrop

All right people, this is the last and final (wait… those words mean the same thing) chapter (My Snow Angel) installment of this fanfiction… I do have slight ideas for a sequel, but I’m not using them if nobody wants a sequel. *shrug* I just want to know if people would read a sequel, should I write one.  Happy 2004.

CHAPTER XII

~*~*~

“You what?” Hisoka thought he must have heard wrong, after all, Tsuzuki did have his face buried against Hisoka’s neck.

Hisoka could feel Tsuzuki’s cheeks become warm as he blushed, and gently moved away from Hisoka, to look him in the eyes.  “I said that I love you,” he said.  “That’s what I need to tell you… you need to know that.  Although, I don’t know how good I was at keeping barriers around at least that feeling…”

“Tsu… no, you were good… I had no idea,” Hisoka said, shining emeralds locking onto nervous amethyst ones. (1)

As nervous as he was, Tsuzuki couldn’t turn his gaze away from Hisoka’s.  He was, however, afraid that Hisoka might run off, or might suddenly lash out at him and tell him to get a new partner.  Just thoughts of that made Tsuzuki’s chest feel tight.  Slowly, however, Hisoka raised a hand, and set it on Tsuzuki’s cheek.  Tsuzuki leaned into Hisoka’s hand, cheek against the warm palm of the younger Shinigami.

“H…” Hisoka was about to say something, then thought better of it.  But finally, his curiosity got the better of him, and he couldn’t stand to watch Tsuzuki unless he found out the answer.  “How?”

“How what?” Tsuzuki opened his closed eyes.

“How could you love me?  How could someone like you love me?” Hisoka asked.  “I don’t deserve you… you’re so… perfect, and in a sense, almost innocent, childish… I’m so mean to you, but you stay with me anyways, and now you say you love me.”

“I don’t just say it, Hisoka,” Tsuzuki said.  “I feel it.”

“But how?” Hisoka asked, becoming more confused by the minute; almost desperately searching Tsuzuki’s eyes for an answer. (2)

Tsuzuki took a deep breath, and released it as a sigh.  He brought a hand up to grip the one Hisoka had against Tsuzuki’s cheek.  “Are you willing to listen, to a long and probably complicated explanation?”

“Yes,” Hisoka said with a confirming nod.

Nodding slightly once himself, Tsuzuki took another deep breath.  He kissed Hisoka’s hand lightly once, then rubbed his cheek against it, before he started to speak.

“Because, as I said before, you’re one of my best friends.  You’re the person who’s been my partner for the longest, and, for some reason, you haven’t left me, despite how much of an idiot I can be at times,” Tsuzuki said.  “You’ve been supporting, you, even, want to listen to me talk when something is wrong…”

“I want to listen to you talk anyways, Tsu,” Hisoka said.  I love your voice… it’s a reassuring voice to me; something I can almost hold onto.

Once again, a warm smile fell on Tsuzuki’s face.  “Not only that, Hisoka, but you’re just, in general, a wonderful person.  Certainly, you still hide your emotions.  Not as bad as you used to, but you at least tell me when something really bad has happened.  And that falls into trust; I trust you, and I’m glad that, as far as I know, you trust me.”

“I do trust you…” (3)

“As I’ve said before, you are one of three people that mean the world to me,” Tsuzuki continued.  “As a matter of fact, you mean even more than that to me.  It’s hard to describe it, really… and every time you get hurt, or you get really angry with me, it does hurt, yes, but it hurts more than if a friend gets mad… far more.  Do you understand, or must I continue?” Tsuzuki asked with a short laugh.

“I think I understand,” Hisoka answered.  “Some of it at least,” he said.  “But that’s okay, I guess… I don’t really need to understand all of it, not right now anyways.”

((WARNING: Gets, somehow, even fluffier now… my brain has turned to mush, and therefore I must write mush.))

Hisoka let Tsuzuki pull him into his lap, so that Hisoka was straddling his lap, due to the way Tsuzuki was seated.  Tsuzuki tucked his head under Hisoka’s chin, arms around his small waist.  The emerald-eyed man put his arms around Tsuzuki’s shoulders, absently playing with the back of Tsuzuki’s hair.

“I’m glad you didn’t run away, Hisoka.”

“Why would I run away?” Hisoka asked, his voice soft.

Tsuzuki shrugged slightly.  “I don’t know… I just had a feeling you might run away, and I was scared.’

“It’s okay, Tsu,” Hisoka said, hugging him a little tighter, one hand on the back of his neck.  “I wouldn’t run away.  As nervous as, I’ll admit, I was, and you seemed, I still wouldn’t have run away.  I care about you too much… I… love you too.”

Hisoka had felt strange saying those words; he wasn’t used to saying them, and he was sure it wasn’t something he would become used to.  Even if he did become used to it, he knew he would only ever be able to say it to Tsuzuki, without fear of the response, and would be welcomed with open arms.  Tsuzuki smiled, raising his head, he looked Hisoka in the eyes, nose-to-nose.

“Hey, ‘Soka?”

“Yes, Tsu?” Hisoka asked, his eyes were half closed, and he felt calm.

“You know what?” Tsuzuki asked, with a smile.

“What?”

Tsuzuki’s smile widened to a grin, and he shifted a little, placing a light kiss on the corner of Hisoka’s mouth.  “You’re my snow angel…”

Although Hisoka blushed, something new he would probably have to get used to being called, he didn’t move away, and he didn’t feel any less calm than he had before.  He was still perfectly content.  “And you’re mine.”

“I thought you didn’t like snow angels, ‘Soka.”

Hisoka thought, for a moment.  “I didn’t say I didn’t like them, I just said I didn’t like to make them… but when they’re already there for you to admire, then why worry about it, ne?”

“Right…” Tsuzuki smiled.

The two remained in that position for the rest of the night, and well into Christmas day, just content to be with one another. (4)

*hisses* It burns!  The fluff burns the eyes and the ears and… everything. *falls on the floor and twitches* Ugh… fluff… that’s like, the fluffiest thing I’ve ever written, and yet… I’m very pleased with it. *smile* Well, I hope you all enjoyed this fanfiction.  I know the chapters have always been short, and I know that 12 chapters of short chapters probably isn’t satisfying, but hey, to some people, maybe it is.  I mean, I like short or long fanfictions, doesn’t bother me, they’re equally satisfying.  Well, there’s the last chapter, and I hope I get lots of good reviews… or complaints about not continuing.  LOL.  In which case I’ll write that sequel… HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MERRY LATE CHRISTMAS!

(1)  Ew… sappy description.  Argh!

(2)  That’s somewhat cute; in a way… can you say: “aw”!  Okay… I’m done talking about my own fanfiction… wait, no I’m not.

(3)  Hisoka’s random little sweet comments in between Tsuzuki’s explanation, aw!

(4) Ooh God!  Even sappier ending!  *Twitches* ARGH!  *twitches again*
