In the beginning there was chaos,
but that's not the beginning we're starting at.
In the beginning there was peace, and nothing could go wrong,
but that's not the beginning we're starting at either.
At the beginning of a war there is tension in the air,
And it’s so thick, we of warrior spirit and blood can’t breathe.
We can feel it starting before even the diplomats, politicians, and ambassadors do.
Before the kings, queens, princes, and princesses expect anything.
My name is Clotho Shaul Eoin Aubrianna, which means "A fate of death for a young warrior who rules with elf-wisdom." A servant of the Royal Family of Earth found me as a toddler, unconscious in the woods surrounding the palace. My origins unknown, the only thing that could possibly lead to my identity was a mark on my back. Two crumbling black wings carrying the golden symbol of the Moon Kingdom, many of the superstitious that saw the mark, saw it as a bad omen. The first time I opened my eyes, the colour furthered their worries. Coal black eyes, not a speck of white in them; a mark of past possession.
Oh gods above, I wish they hadn’t been right.
I was also pale, with a sort of silver glow to me, much like that of the glow the Moon’s Royals gave off. I could almost be mistaken for one for along with my glow; I had the exact same silver hair as the Queen. My appearance always made people nervous, and it still does.
A mere week after my awakening, when the doctors where sure my health was good, arrangements were made for me to be taken to see the Queen of the Moon. She had heard of my mark, of my eyes and of my looks, and wanted to see them for herself; see if some explanation could be made. It was a privet meeting, only the Queen, Sinope- the woman who was my caretaker, Sailor Pluto- the guardian of the time gates, and myself.
The queen was told, that to the knowledge of Sinope, I could not speak, and as far as could be told I was most likely three. She had acknowledged this with a nod, before standing from her chair to come kneel before me.
"Hello there, little one." She had said, a gentle smile on her face, I smiled back at her and then shocking everyone had replied.
"Hello, Queen Selenity." She stared at me for a moment, before her smile widened.
"They told me you could not talk yet."
"It hurts when I speak." I told her, covering my throat with one of my small hands. The angelic Queen had frowned slightly before I looked on in amazement as she reached out and covered my hand with hers, and the cool soothing feeling of healing magic washed over me.
"Is that better?" she had asked and I had tested my throat- swallowing and coughing a bit before I nodded with a bright smile. "Do you know your name?"
At that I paused, furrowing my brown in concentration.
"I think I do. I know a name at least."
"What is it child?"
"Clotho. Clotho... Shaul... Eoin Aubrianna."
The time guardian’s eyes had downcast at that, and I remember her clearly asking Sinope to leave. Which the woman could only comply with, one would never dare disobey a request of the second most powerful protector of the solar system.
Once Sinope had left the room, Pluto had kneeled down before me; beside her Queen and asked me a few questions that would change everything.
"You’re the one the Fates found all those millennia ago, aren’t you? The one that came too early, and had to be kept away?"
It all rushed back to me then, awakening into darkness as Gaea’s grandchildren flourished in the aftermath of Zeus’ coup. Being found by the three Fates, being named, and then being sent to Hades, who would become a sort of father figure, to wait out the time until I was truly supposed to be.
"Why did you have to remind me..? Now it can’t be stopped!" I had wept, and both the Queen and the Guardian had closed their eyes in acceptance.
"It would have happened eventually, Clotho."
"The Queen’s daughter would have survived had you not awoken me, Guardian." I had said, venom dripping from my voice. "What do you plan to do with me now?"
"You’ll be allowed to do as you like."
"Send me to Mars. I wish to continue my training once my body is formed enough to allow it."

And so, nearly six years after I started the first version of this (which was also my first fan fiction ever), what will probably end up being the final revision has started. Then, and up until this point, it has been titled "Ever Changing Destiny" but as I move it in a different direction, I felt it was time for a change of name. Alation, for those of you that don't know, means "the state of being winged" or "to be winged."
The starting point of this has also changed, all of the earlier versions started in the "modern day" and then after reaching a certain point (what would logically be the end of that story line), would go to the past to explain things that had been touched on in greater detail, and more. Instead, as you can see, I'm starting at the true beginning. Which is more fun for me, since I get to go into Clotho's past rather deeply this way. Clotho, by the way, is an incarnation of Ares from the last version. Her parentage has been tweaked slightly, but they are the same.
The majority of the couples changed from version to version, and this one will probably be a mesh of the past ones. That is all I'm going to say, so you'll just have to wait and see.
For those of you that read the last version of this I posted; Ellis, Cashion, and Aurority will probably not be making an appearance at any point in this, unless I have a serious change of mind. Though Terra, who was only mentioned briefly in the last one before I trashed it will probably reappear, but her role will be much smaller then the roles I had planned for her in the others. I'm trying to keep the number of original characters down as low as possible.
And, just so you know, this will probably be the only chapter that is in a first person view.
I hope you enjoy this story,
Much love, and happy holidays,
