Another day is over and darkness spreads its wings,
Another battle fought and won, though joy my heart not sings,
Throughout the history of us men we have had a special friend,
One who gets no credit for the country we help mend,
Endless miles stretch before us but more are left behind,
Without my horses trust in me I doubt I would have survived,
Together we ride to victory, holding our heads high,
I'm sure your feet have wings, under the starry night sky we fly,
You have shown me kindness, that I have never seen,
You trust me with your life, knowing whatever this might mean,
You are not limited to strength; your beauty goes unseen,
But in my eyes I hold a horse; the best there's ever been,
The friendship we have forged is more than strong,
It has never faltered and helped us carry on,
Through the war torn country and barren fields,
To the battles, where lie fallen men and fallen shields,
Together, with my hand lightly upon your reign,
We suffer all of the agony and all of the pain,
Through blistering heat and falling snow,
You shall carry on and always know,
Once proud I sat upon your back,
With my shining amour and your glistening tack,
Many battles fought and won,
But we went down, as did the sun,
Together now, we rule again,
But no more must we suffer the pain,
Our grace is now required in a land high above,
We now canter through heaven, as lightly as a dove.
