The Tornado

23-year-old Lizzie McGuire was spending a quite evening with her boyfriend David ‘Gordo’ Gordon at his apartment. Lizzie spent many full nights at Gordo’s that only their best friend Miranda Sanchez-Tudgeman and her new husband Larry had known about, and they had always covered for Lizzie by calling her parents and telling them she had too much to drink or something along those lines and was spending the night at their apartment instead of going home, to her own apartment.

That night was very important to Lizzie and Gordo, it was the night they had gotten engaged, they told both of their parents first, who immediately had suspicions that Lizzie was pregnant, like Miranda was before she and Larry got married. That wasn’t the case, Lizzie and Gordo were very deeply in love and everyone who met them knew it, beside their parents, who thought 23 was too young to get married.

Lizzie looked at the sparkling diamond on her hand and kissed Gordo. “I love you, so much” she said after they pulled apart

“I love you, too.” Gordo decided to go back for another kiss but was interrupted when they heard something crash to the ground outside.

They quickly ran to the window and looked out. A tree had fallen on Lizzie’s brand new Jeep. Gordo put an arm around her, she only had that Jeep for a few days and it was gone. It was raining very hard and from the looks of it the strong winds had blown the old tree over.

Gordo then saw something that made his stomach drop, a large, black funnel cloud was heading straight for the small building. Lizzie saw it too, and buried her face into Gordo’s chest.

He ran his hand through her soft, blonde hair “it’s okay, I’m right here, it’s not gonna hurt you.” He wondered if they really were safe in there but he didn’t tell Lizzie that, she was shaking so violently he didn’t think she could handle being scared anymore than she already was. “Let’s go into the bedroom” he said breathlessly.

Lizzie looked at him like he was nuts “the bedroom? Is that all you ever think about!?” Her voice was shaky and the color had drained for her face.

“No, there’s no windows in the bedroom, that’s the safest place to be during a tornado” he said grabbing Lizzie’s hand and pulling her into his bedroom and shutting the door behind him.

They had only been in the bedroom a few seconds when they heard a crash in the small living room. Gordo opened the door a crack and saw a tree had broken through the window, right where they were standing five seconds ago.

Lizzie was looking over Gordo’s shoulder at the mess outside. He felt her collapse next to him. He caught her before she hit the floor and carried her to his bed and laid her on it.

He sat down on the edge of the bed and looked blankly at the door; had this really just happened, had a tornado really hit them on the night of their engagement? The first thought that came into Gordo’s head was ‘it’s a warning, bad things will come if you get married.’ “No,” he said out loud “I love Lizzie and I’m going to marry her.”

“Gordo?” Lizzie had woken up and was still very shaken. “Gordo? What’s happening?”

“You passed out, the tornado’s scaring you too much.” Gordo said as he sat on the bed next to her and took her in his arms.

“Don’t leave, Gordo, promise me you won’t leave.” She said, regaining herself slightly.

“I’m not going anywhere, I’m right here, I’m not leaving.” He kissed her on the top of her head. “We’re gonna get out of this, it’s gonna be okay.”

Lizzie and Gordo lay on the bed, still in each other’s arms. AL: this would be really romantic . . . if I wasn’t so freaked out!!!

They heard another crash outside, but didn’t even think of getting up to see what had happened, Gordo’s legs seemed to have turned to jelly and Lizzie was too scared to move, or leave Gordo’s arms. She felt safe in his arms, like she knew nothing could hurt her as long as he had her.

They could hear the heavy ran outside, partly because they were on the top floor of the building, and partly because a lot of the rain was falling on his living room floor.

Gordo grabbed his remote and turned the large T.V. at the foot of the bed on to help get their minds off of what was happening. Gordo had a satellite dish and the picture was not coming up because of the storm. He pressed the power button again and the snowy screen turned black.

They stayed in the bedroom the rest of the night, just laying in each other’s arms. In the morning it sounded like the storm had stopped, or at least calmed down and they went to inspect the damage to the apartment.

Everything was soaking wet and covered in glass or something that had blown in off the street. Lizzie waited by the bedroom door as Gordo walked around the small room, trying to find something that had survived.

A book shelf had blown over and Gordo went over to set it upright. He lifted it up and leaned it back against the wall, nothing that was on the bookshelf looked like it was savable. Lizzie went to get the trash can from the kitchen and help Gordo clean up.

Lizzie picked up a small, broken picture frame and looked at the picture that it held. It was Lizzie and Gordo at 18, a few months after they had started dating, it was the picture her mother had took of them before their senior prom. Gordo was wearing a black tuxedo with a blue tie and cummerbund, Lizzie was wearing a strapless baby blue dress that perfectly matched Gordo’s eyes. They were both smiling and had their arms around each other.

“Gordo, come here, look at this” she said handing him the picture as he walked over, while she went to get a broom.

Gordo looked at the picture and smiled “I can’t believe that’s us, we’ve been together for five years. The guy in this picture didn’t know he’d be engaged to this girl five years later, he never thought he would be lucky enough to marry someone so beautiful.”

Lizzie smiled and blushed, “the girl in that picture knew what she wanted, what she wanted was the guy next to her. She would have never given up until she had him” she said squatting down next to Gordo and kissing him on the cheek.

“If I recall correctly, she did get that guy, that night in fact” he said remembering that the night of prom they lost their virginity to each other.

Lizzie giggled slightly as Gordo jumped on her and tackled her playfully to the wet floor. They kissed passionately for a few minutes until Lizzie broke away from him, picked up the picture “you better take it out of there” she said giving it to Gordo.

He took it carefully out of the broken frame so he didn’t cut himself and threw the frame away. He studied the picture, amazingly it didn’t have a drop of water on it, and it was the only thing in the room worth saving. He saw it as a sign, they had already made it through five years, they would last, just like the picture.

He gave the old photo back to Lizzie, who took it into Gordo’s room where a more recent picture of them was on the bedside table. She took that photo out of its frame and put their prom picture in its place.

About two weeks later Gordo’s apartment building got shut down, due to extensive damages and he moved in with Lizzie. He sold the furniture that was salvageable, the stuff he didn’t sell or that got ruined by the storm he threw away.

Lizzie McGuire became Lizzie Gordon a year later.

They had four children, two sets of twins, one of them were identical boys, Erik and David Junior, the other was a boy and a girl, Joshua and Kelly. All of their children had Gordo’s bright blue eyes.

Erik and David are two years older than their brother and sister and look exactly like their father. Kelly looks a lot like Lizzie, and Joshua has Gordo’s shaggy hair but he is blonde, like his sister and mother.

THE END

AN: I know that’s a dumb way to end a story but it had to stop somewhere, please no criticism
