“Firefly-Could you shine your light? Now I know your ways-Cause there just like mine. Now I'm justified-As I fall in line. And it's hard to try-When your open wide. Fuck you. Firefly-Have you lost your light? Now I hate your ways-Cause there just like mine. So you've lost my friend. Such sorry end. And I don't know why-So I choke and smile.” Breaking Benjamin

Forget Me Not 16- Firefly-

Wrong. All wrong. This wasn’t supposed to go down like this. She was going to go out peaceful into the sweet gentle night, or whatever Angelus had told her that one time.

She peered down to see the roaring waves. She was such a chicken-shit after all. Do you want to die? Angelus had asked her then. No, she answered, no, and shut her eyes while he pulled the trigger. She shouldn’t have given him any of that satisfaction. When Spike came now, Faith would look him in the eye. She would tell him that she didn’t want to die, but she would rather take it than the great alternative he was presenting. His soul would make her an evil killer. That’s not me, not anymore, but it would be.

Faith wished she would stop thinking of Angelus. She knew Spike really thought he was saving her, not making her into some murdering bitch. Spike couldn’t be like Angelus if he tried, and he had tried. Faith knew he wasn’t trying anymore, just like he was never trying to be Angel. But now, Spike was probably closer to being both Angel and Angelus than he realized. Faith couldn’t help but smile as she heard them tromping up the hill.

Hadn’t B jumped of some cliff too after giving Dawn a little good-bye speech? Faith had given up on being anything like B long ago, and here she was. Waiting for him. She wasn’t waiting for Spike or Angel, if it was just them Faith would have jumped already, and she would have been happy that it was over. Faith had her own kid to deal with. Maybe she wasn’t together enough to be given some all-powerful innocent sister to look after by monks, but Angel decided she was cool enough to look after his almost-all- powerful-not-so-innocent-son, and she had to say goodbye too.

She was glad, if she was glad about anything, that she didn’t have a best friend to bring her back. She thought of Kennedy. Were Faith and Kennedy best friends? Was that what all that nagging and love-tap fighting was? Faith had decided some years back that she wasn’t the type of girl to really have a girl best friend, or a guy best friend, or any best friend really. Now there was Kennedy and there was Spike. Whatever they were to her, or had been, they were going to be really wicked pissed that she had jumped. They were not going to get it and they were going to talk about what a stupid bitch she was. They weren’t sugary sweet suburban kids, who happened to get mixed up with a Slayer and were going to fish around until they got their favorite toy back. Kennedy and Spike knew better. They knew the world for what it was, and that magic was no solution. K was a lucky rich girl, but she had always known what a Slayer was and how they died. Spike was a vampire with a soul who knew everything, especially about Slayers, but sometimes he just didn’t want to admit it.

There was enough ambient light from the lighthouses, piers, and rich people’s houses to make everything a slight yellow, like looking through a vampire’s eyes. Faith could see his eyes, large and round, the expression of fear on his face. See, Spike knew, he had let Connor come up first.

“Hey, Blade” Faith smiled, “I’m afraid I’m going to have to be drama girl and tell you that if I even sense you move any closer, I’ll feel one of my signature fainting spells coming on.” Her back was to the cliff. She lifted up her feet to lean on her heels for emphasis, and instantly regretted it as Connor winced as she did it. She had been working on her last cig, and the ash flew back and almost hit her in the face like an annoying firefly. They didn’t have fireflies out here. She used to be the kind of girl who caught them and let them go. Then she became the kind of girl who smashed them to see their glowing green against the wall. Who was she now? Someone who wouldn’t see any more fireflies.

“Don’t do this. It’s wrong,” Connor pleaded.

“No, it’s not. I can’t let Spike turn me into a killer again,” Faith said plainly. “Is it true? If you don’t let him heal you, you’ll die?” Connor asked.

“Afraid so. So, only way to not be an evil bitch is to die,” she smiled sadly at him.

“But Faith, this was meant to be. You deserve to live. I don’t care how you do it. If I could die right now for you I would. The only evil thing is your death,” he said and seemed to throw a dirty look over the cliff as if death was some dude waiting for her down there.

“It looks like you win the drama award, though,” she grinned sadly, “I just wanted to say ‘good-bye’ to you. Gee, I really wish I had something more inspirational prepared you know, that was what this was about. When I realized I was dying I made sure Angel kept Spike away until I could have this time with you. So, be good, eat all your vegetables, and please don’t try to stake your Dad. Maybe you could even learn to love him or something. I would, if I were you- after what he did for you.”

“You mean how he left me?” he said through gritted teeth, “How you’re leaving me now? I should be so fucking grateful that everyone can’t wait to get to a world where I’m not- or put me in one.”

“Oh my God, baby,” Faith gasped, “You are so full of shit! You know it’s not about that. You know that you’re where you’re meant to be, with your family, and with Angel too. Just like I’m where I’m meant to be. Finally my back isn’t up against the wall.”

“I was meant to create lies. The only reason I was born was because Jasmine or whoever she really was, used me to rule the world and feed off humanity. I only brought about lies and pain, and that’s what I’d bring to my family if they knew,” Connor insisted.

“I know exactly how you feel—“

“I need you to stay with me,” he said.

“No you don’t. I’m the last thing you need, if I stay here and all the shit goes down like it’s supposed to in the Bad book of demon I’ll be a killer,” she said firmly as she watched the wind whip around his shaggy hair. “You can stop with that bullshit now! Everyone knows it’s not true,” Spike came out from where ever he was lurking. He had probably decided the conversation was at a standstill.

“It is true. You stay away from me. Angel, get him back, he’s crazy,” Faith said as Angel came out silently with Spike.

“Would you stop with the bloody act, Scarlet. ‘Oh, Spike is the big bad; I am so scared of him.’ You do the worst damsel in distress I’ve ever seen. Do everyone a favor and stick to femme fatale,” Spike said.

“How ‘bout I do neither and go for hero, you sexist pig!” Faith barked at him.

“Great, now she’s channeling Mistress K. I wonder how she’ll feel about all this,” Spike said as he inched closer. This really pissed Faith off, as if she wouldn’t have noticed him inching closer, and as if she hadn’t already thought about how Kennedy would feel about all this.

“If I even sense you are thinking about passing Connor I swim with the fishes,” Faith threatened as she did the heal tilt again, “I know that I’m going to swim with the fishes either way, but now you’ll ruin my nice exit. You owe me at least a nice exit.”

“I owe you a bloody lot more than that!” he roared.

He had his very tight angry face on. In his human angry face he kind of looked like a puppy baring its teeth. It looked very scary if you thought it was a dog, but if you were one of the people who knew the truth you weren’t scared. Because, dude, it was just a puppy.

“Faith,” Angel grumbled slowly, “Get down from the cliff. I’m not asking.”

“What?” Faith asked.

“Spike sang for Lorne, and I know how you’ve been lying to me,” Angel said in that I-would-be-angry-but-I’m-too-disappointed-tone that Robin would use if he hadn’t left Faith.

God! She hadn’t realized how much she hated that tone until now. Not that she hated Robin or Angel. No wonder Robin left her.

“Lying?” Faith asked.

“Yeah, not a nice thing to do to your Daddy-in-shiny-armor, even if the armor is made from silver dollars for selling out,” Spike snarled.

There. That was a tone she could work with.

“You fucking idiot! Don’t you get it yet? I am not lying. Horrible evil things would happen, if I let you stubborn asshole get your hands on me, and how dare you make it look like I was lying to Angel,” she yelled.

“Wait. It is true? Lorne said that if Spike didn’t heal you with his soul she would die. Is he wrong?” Angel asked.

“No, I’m not wrong, but she’s not lying either. Hi, pumpkin,” Lorne nodded to her.

“Hi Lorne, how goes it?” Faith asked.

He was sort of sulking in the back like this was a car accident he didn’t want to see.

“I’ve seen better shows involving a hunk-a-hunk-a-burnin’ love,” he sighed.

“Okay, forgive me if I’m in the dark, but that kind of goes along with no one ever telling me anything,” Angel grumbled,

“So, Faith, Wesley, the demon prophecy, it’s actually right? If Spike saves Faith with a vampire soul something horrible will happen? But you all just told me if Spike didn’t burn up into her, she’d be dead!”

Geez, sometimes Angel really did miss the forest for the trees, or the good loving for the lame curse.

“Hello? GQ, I think that you have been in the pent house too long. Come back down to the simple working folk. I’m sure Spike and Lorne already told you what would happen. If he heals me I will kill him. If that is not me going back to the murdering selfish bitch I was before I don’t know what is. And, since I’ve taken murder 101, 102, and 103, I think I do know what would make me the killer I was before. I already killed two men, and okay they were pricks, but I draw the line at my demon taking out a champ,” Faith said.

“Well, I’ve taken all those sodding murdering classes, and the extended ones. In fact, I have a bloody doctorate in murder, and I say, if the person is ready willing and able to give his life, it’s not murder!” Spike snarled.

“Oh man,” Faith laughed, “You mean you didn’t get the memo? If you did all that murder with out the soul, you get zero cred. Poor Billy boy, so all your work and opinions count for squat. What do you think, Angel? I mean, it’s my life, right? And if I decide that a champ’s life is worth more than my murdering and now powerless one, isn’t it my right?”

“That’s it! I will not---“Spike began as he advanced towards Faith.

“Spike, don’t!” Connor yelled and grabbed Spike’s arm, “She’ll do it. She’ll jump!” Faith inched back and felt herself start to fall when someone grabbed her hand.

“Thanks,” Faith smiled at Lorne, but pulled her hand away, “I wasn’t quite ready to fly. I’ve got more for the kid.”

“What are you waiting for, Mr. Green-Jeans? Drag her over here to me, where she belongs. She’s just a weak lil’ girl now,” Spike said as Connor seemed to be holding him back.

“Try it, Greenie and you lose a horn,” Faith smiled meanly.

“Don’t worry, doll. I’m just a conscientious observer, and I’m sure you could take me down if I wasn’t, girl or not,” Lorne said.

“And I may be just a girl, but I’m not little, and I’m not weak,” she said turning to Spike. Faith closed her eyes and did that push on her brain. It was so easy to bring out the demon now. Alistair Crowley had dug at it and brought it up to the top layer. Well, it was Faith herself who had decided to hold on to the last piece. A bit of darkness to chase Spike’s soul away.

“Got one last secret, remember? And if anyone knows how to use secrets to push men away, it’s me,” Faith said. She could talk with the demon out now, control it. Maybe because there was so little of it left, or she was just getting to be more like it. Faith felt the demon curl around her face like cigarette smoke. Only real cig smoke would blow away in the wind. The shadow demon was going nowhere, until it went to swim with the fishes together with Faith. Lorne made a little yelping sound and inched back a bit. Faith couldn’t see the demon, but everyone told her it made a shape of a demon face above her head. Also, her eyes went all black like everybody’s seem to when they messed with bad things.

“You’re right; you’re not just a girl. That’s quite a midnight shadow you got there,” Lorne said.

“No, I’m still, just a girl with no real power who fucked with something bigger than herself. So, now it’s time to pay the piper, and I’m not into having other people pay my debts anymore. It’s wrong,” Faith said as she looked down at the swooshing ocean that seemed to be backing her up on this.

“Faith, maybe it’s you that’s wrong,” Connor said gently, “I mean, Spike wants to do this. He chose to do this. He says you call to him, and his soul burns for you, you didn’t make that happen.”

“Yes I did!” she snapped as she pulled the demon back inside her. The thing now felt like it was slam dancing in her brain.

Faith grabbed her head as the noise of pain escaped her.

“Faith, please! It’s killing you,” Spike pleaded.

“You always said it was part of me. So, I’m killing myself, English. Wouldn’t be the first time I tried,” Faith said.

“You stupid bint! You have the biggest death-wish of them all, don’t you? It bloody figures! It figures you’re the one I get stuck with. This was my choice. My life—to be given to you,” Spike roared, his voice was like a fist incased in silk. What was that expression? Something about velvet gloves. Whatever. Fists still left bruises.

“No, I can’t take anymore from you! I’ve-I’ve had enough of you in me—all over me...You say your ready for it to end, well this is how it ends. It's my life, and I'm not gonna have anyone fuck with it,” she said.

“Faith, I’ve had enough of this bloody bullshit! I killed your man’s mum. You hate me, remember? I can’t be bloody sorry for the game I was set to play but, I can make it right.” Spike was still swinging at her, trying to get her to give up.

“I don’t hate you. How dare you fucking say I hate you! If I hated you I’d be a hypocrite. Wood’s mom was a Slayer. She knew the dice were loaded when she rolled. I was mad that you lied to me. You hid something from me because you didn’t trust I could take it. And now you’re telling me you’ve chosen to die for me to make things right. You want me to be your fucking redemption. Well, sorry I’m not a fucking rehab project and I won’t have you waste your life on some Slayer who has done jack.”

“How can you say that? You’ve done everything for me...You believed in me and told me I was worthy. You listened to the worst of what I was and you never flinched. The least I can give you is this life.”

”That is the stupidest thing I ever heard! What did I ever do for you except cost you a lot of beer money and almost get you killed?”

“What! Look, I don’t have the time to even begin to address how round the bend your thinking is. All I know is I should be dead three times now. So, this is MY time, MY moment and I get to choose the dramatic music and make the speeches!”

“Twice. This would be the third and it’s not happening.”

“No, this would be the fourth and it is so bloody happening. I count the time that the chip would have killed me. It seemed to be the government’s plan to keep me alive for a few years as a fluffy puppy, and then have the sodding chip kill me ...Wonder why they didn’t do it from the beginning? They had a fair shot. I guess they just like to waste the tax dollars of the Yank citizens like Peach now. Maybe if they did I would have just risen again, because I am meant to give my life to you,” Spike said.

“What are you? Some ‘manifest destiny’, suicidal freak. Maybe you have everyone here convinced this is fate, but not me. I don’t believe in fate,” Faith said.

“Neither do I,” Spike said, “Until I made my own. You think I came back with a soul and as a vampire to fulfill the Shanshu deal in a wonky way, just so I could piss Peaches off? They asked me—they asked me if I wanted to be human or if I wanted to burn out all over again to save a Slayer, and I went with option B.”

“’They’ who the hell are ‘they?’ Why do you always push me until I’m crazy?” Faith demanded, “How? How could I be meant to kill you? Unless I’m something that’s not right and not good. You wanna be a believer, fine, we’ll go with fate. Maybe it’s really all about this other prophecy. We should have let all those Rhoshobi demons kill me. They say that prophecy is about us, but you must have noticed, it’s always me they’re after. Maybe- maybe I was just made to punish you all—to make life harder no matter what I do. Amanda told me she thought she was being punished when I led them into that bomb because she chose to follow me and not Buffy...Maybe she was right.”

“Faith that’s—“Angel began.

“SHUT-up! This is gonna end with ME dying. So you are going to sodding listen to every word I have to say now!” Spike snapped, “At first I did think I was being punished.”

So, that was it. She was right. She had figured out the riddle and now she was down to the bottom of the cereal box for the prize, and it was no surprise Spike always knew. So, why was he torturing her? He should just let her jump. Faith knew Spike thought that wasn’t the heroic thing to do, but he wasn’t like Angel, as much as he liked to argue, Spike would eventually listen to reason.

“I didn’t think I was being punished by you,” he said, “I thought I was being punished because Buffy left and I was forced to live a life in a dimension without her.”

“Is that why you want to die?” Faith demanded, “Because B isn’t here! Well, I’m not letting you---“

“Would you shut-your gob?” Spike roared.

Faith did. She was tired and weak and the yelling puppy was starting to look more like a dog to her in her exhausted state. B, if B was here it would all be good. If B was here Spike would let Faith die with some grace and dignity. B would see how Spike’s life in exchange for Faith’s really wasn’t right, though she would probably be very torn up about it. Faith had been dreaming of B lately. Like all of her most recent dreams they hadn’t been any fun and involved death. Wouldn’t it be cool to have that over and done with?

“Buffy--She told me to help you, so that is what I did. I liked you. You were certainly an interesting enough girl... Then I started to have some bloody fun. I bloody smiled for the first time as a good man, a real man when I was with you. So, it’s all perfectly effing clear...I was made by Dru into a vampire, then I was made by Buffy into a man. Then I was made by the priestesses into a real savior, so I could save you. I was made, chosen, I chose, to save you Faith.... What is a man without what he does for a woman?”

“What is who without what?” Faith was truly confused, so she just focused on the part she got. “Whatever. Look, that is the biggest load I ever heard. It sounds like a huge punishment! You get vamped, fall in love, and lose the girl, all to save the bitch that tried to kill her.”

“I love you, Faith! You’re worth it. Your worth it all! I’d die and burn up frontwards and backwards a thousand times, and then I’d go to Hell to save you,” Spike said.

“Oh please,” Faith gave a snorting laugh, she felt light headed. Her brain hurt from this little debate club meeting. The demon that was flattening her brain probably didn’t help either.

“You are really getting desperate now,” she still laughed, “That IS one way you're a Brit...You don't go around professing love to your friends, unless...Are you drunk?”

"No, I'm not-- I'm gonna spontaneously combust from frustration before--"

“You shut the fuck up! Can you please just say ‘goodbye’ to me like everyone else?” she said firmly, “That way we don’t have to do this six o’ clock news jumper thing.”

“As if you didn’t know there is no way out of this. As if anyone here was going to let you jump,” Spike scoffed.

“Angel will let me make my own decision,” Faith stated.

“Oh really?” Spike asked, “How come no one told me Hell froze over? I don’t think Angel is capable of--”

“She can do this if it’s what she wants,” Angel sighed.

“What?” Spike roared.

“It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t allow it. She was willing to do it for me, and for some crazy ridiculous reason that I will never ever understand she’s willing to do it for you. A hero is willing to sacrifice his life for the greater good, and God help us, since she has no more Slayer power you are...in this case...the greater good,” Angel said all this dully with his arms folded.

“No!” Connor yelped, “This is fate ,that she’s the one saved, that Spike heals her. I don’t care if the goddamned world isn’t safe. Look, my purpose, my destiny was only to bring an evil thing into this world, and it happened, but the world kept turning. So, whatever is going to happen when Spike dies for Faith is meant to be.”

“Is that what you think, kid? That evil was all you were made for, and that there’s good in the world despite of you and not because of you? Man, then Angel really forgot to take the stupid out of you with that spell,” Faith said. “It wasn’t what you were brought here to do that matters. It was what you ended up doing. You spat in that evil thing’s face and killed it. Angel thought it was best to send you away, but you won’t have it----“

“It’s because Angel knows, he knows that I’m no good. My destiny wasn’t good, but yours is. You’re not supposed to die tonight. You’re supposed to live. Maybe I can be apart of your good destiny, since we already know mine was bad. Maybe you can give me a purpose,” Connor said.

“Did you guys write some speeches on your car ride here?” Faith smiled, tilting her head. “You want a purpose? Fuck fate! Now go out and find your own purpose. Mine was to save all you champs at least once, and maybe that wasn’t what the- powers- that- be- thinking- they’re- so- great had planned for me, but fuck em’! If they were so freaking powerful they would have known not to set it up this way.” Faith spat angrily into the salty air.

“Maybe—maybe they thought I liked to burn people up with my track record,” she felt her eyes sting as she shut them tight, as tight as her fists, “But they’re wrong! They’re wrong about me!”

"Faith, the only one who’s wrong about you, is you. If only you could see what they see, what I see... I love you," Spike said.

"Yeah, I heard you the first time. I think you rock too. That's why I'm doing this my way," she smiled wiping her drippy nose with her denim sleeve.

Angel was on his cell phone and Lorne was standing beside him, not too far off. They must have realized this was over, and that she wouldn’t have to jump. In this case it was better to fade away than burn out. Spike would let her go out naturally. He wouldn’t do anything stupid like try to kill himself for “fate.” Faith was dying and that was that. Spike would finally stop being such a pain in the ass, and give her a little respect. Connor would understand why she had to do this, and it would even end up making him feel better about himself. Thank God, it was over. She really didn’t want to jump. It was colder than a witch’s tit out here at night. Well, Angel would have to get off the phone. She didn’t trust Spike to not try to take a grab without Angel on guard. Faith didn’t think Angel would have to worry about guarding her much longer. The next big migraine attack may do the trick.

“I’ve never met a person who clung to life harder than you,” Spike said.

“Great just what I always wanted a living eulogy. Can you back it up about ten feet and get Angel so we can continue it inside?” She asked.

But Spike didn’t back up. He took a big step forward.

“Fuck!” Faith yelled, “I thought you finally got it. Why do you have to be so slow?”

“I never met anyone who tried harder...who felt so much for everyone that they had to pretend to shut it off. I never met anyone stronger, or more humble underneath all that bravado...that is real humility...that is what a real good person is.”

He looked very serious. Stern; his eyes set on her face. She didn’t like it.

“Yeah, that’s why they’ll name a drink after me at Willy’s. Are you gonna step off or do I have to keep standing here?”

“You are so forgiving, so forgiving to all of us dirty men that fucked with you, and so bloody hard on the ones that hurt anyone else...The demon...You never made the demon go off when all of those things were trying to hurt you. Those soldiers, they unleashed it all on you to get to Blade and it never even occurred to you to let them have it until you had to,” he said.

“Stop it! I killed that guy, I made you—Just shut the fuck up!” she felt a dagger in her throat.

“You were willing to die for Angel and all he gave you was a little kindness. You’re willing to die for me, and what have I given you besides an orphaned boyfriend and a lot of arguments,” he said.

He stepped closer, and she could feel it-- the heat of him—that her freezing body craved like a burning cigarette.

“You may not love me, but, I know you, and I know you feel it,” he said.

“Angel! Angel, Spike still isn’t listening! You can hurt him now,” Faith called and looked to Angel who slowly approached.

“You’re the one now...You- you were the one that finally made me whole,” Spike insisted quietly.

”I made you whole?” she laughed bitterly, “I’m not that kind of girl. The only thing I’ll make you is a whole lot of ashes if you come any closer.”

“You’re the one who accepted me for who I really was, that is all I ever wanted in life...Women have wanted to do it for me, but they never really could, and you did... Maybe you’re not in love with me, but you saw me all of me and you actually liked everything you saw...So, I can rest in peace now, if you just let me. Do you really think I could live a second with out you? I'm in love with you.”

"Fuck you. You're lying. You're a liar! You just want-- You just--" her head buzzed like it was chopping ice as the rest of her body was warmed by him.

"Yeah, that's pretty much the reaction I get from the good women I've loved,” he smiled sadly. He looked so human, so beautifully human until he got too close to Faith and then: “At least, with you, I can give you something real. Something hot, though it may be a little different from what you’re used to. Come to me."

He held out his hand and it was burning, and she knew if she touched it that it would be good and warm and everything she needed to stay. Stay here after she burned him up into nothing. It was starting to smell like flowers again.

“It’s okay, Fi. I love you,” he said.

Fi. Shortened from Firecracker, taken from something her mom called her. She was a firecracker all right, that took and destroyed everything.

“No!” she yelled suddenly after she had felt she had been speechless forever. She dove back from the cliff, not like she would when she had her Slayer power, but like when she used to stage-dive at

The Ratt in Boston. She’d wait for all of those hands to catch her, and then she’d go back and find the one that tried to cop a feel and kick their asses, or screw them. She always was a kiss or kill kind of girl. There wouldn’t be any hands at the bottom of this fall. Just a cold ocean or jagged rock. She wasn’t sure. It didn’t matter. She smiled knowing she had saved Spike. How could a person who knew anything about the world she had lived in not save Spike? A vampire who loved and chose to get a soul! Talk about choice. If anyone could teach Connor about choice it was Spike. Faith did good, but, she admitted as she fell slower than she thought she would, she ’d miss the gropey hands at the bottom of this stage dive.

She did feel hands, though, coming at her from the top. They felt warm and good like all the warm goodness that was sinking into her and...NO! She didn’t open her eyes.

Boo! he said, or she realized he wasn’t really saying it.

No, no, no. How? she demanded.

Vampires fall faster. Dead weight. No, just kidding I can push off with the strong legs and all. Made me catch up, he said.

You are such a fucking idiot! You have no right to do this, no right! she roared.

Hey, do you realize we can talk now, like an actual conversation. Before it was all just mashed up little bits, fragments. Go figure. I guess the powers thought they owed us one last heart to heart,” he said.

This won’t work! I’m pushing you off with the demon right now. You won’t be able to burn inside me with anything good because the monster will throw you off!

Faith pushed the darkness out of her with everything she had. She was mad as hell, and she had to save him. She only felt her insides slam into a wall of power that felt good.

Well, it looks like my goodness can kick your badness ass. I win, he said.

No! Get the fuck away from me. Please, please, Spike. I’ll do whatever you want if you just live.

Faith felt the demon surging out of her as she pushed it out, but it wasn’t doing any good. It was being burned up and the burning wanted to go, sink into Faith.

I’m afraid I can’t do that, love But if you really want to do something, just kiss me, he said. Faith still tried with all the pathetic power she had left to push more demon out of her so Spike would get thrown off. The last of the shadow was probably pouring out of her mouth as she opened it to kiss him. Sweet gentle mouth, warm. That was because it was fucking burning up! Instead of trying to push him away Faith kissed him desperately. Maybe if she kissed him she could really get the demon inside him to push him away.
