“We’ll get through this, right?” asked Nora quietly as the van bumped up and down over the ground, taking them away from the parking lot where they left the Jeep, the school, the people and the radio behind.

“Sure,” said Mark, barely audible.

“It’s just free speech, right?” went on Nora persistently. “I mean, they can’t put you in jail for free speech! All it was is stealing the radio waves, right? Besides, you did good. Anyone there will testify to that.”

Mark shrugged and looked at his feet. “You were there, Nora. You know what happened.”

And Nora smiled.
