Of Kitsune tails and Tanuki dolls

Erm, ignore the title, anyway....

Synopsis: Now, say Naruto was born five years earlier, and instead of being the Kyuubi’s seal, he was it’s reincarnation. Since the age of four, he has traveled alone, not stopping until he reached the Wind country. Of course, Gaara’s there as well...

Warnings: Demonic Naruto(sort of....), Shounen Ai/Yaoi (NaruGaara, Slight SasuHaku, maybe some others) and that’s about it.... I think.... Mostly inspired by too many Naruto and Inuyasha fics along with this(.) if it’s not there, look in my bio for it.

Ne, this chapter focuses mostly on what happened to Naruto during his thirteen years of absence, but there is some present time too.

A response to Aoi: I’m glad that you don’t love this fic, nor do you hate it. You actually took some precious time of your life to write that freakishly long critique, and I am very thankful for that. I know that English isn’t my best subject, and it’s also my second language, and because of that I’ve never had a very high tolerance for grammar, though I’m trying. TT . But still, whoever said Naruto never lived with one of his sensei’s for even a short while? Fufufu....

[Like violence, you have me forever

“ Sanity is fragile, so put me down gently, I a chipped plate.” -Me

In all my life, I have never regretted anything I have done.

No, really.

...

You don’t believe me, do you?

No, of course you don’t. No one trusts the big bad Kyubi no Kitsune.

Why am I not surprised?

I have no regrets, but humanity should.

Humanity made a mistake.

A very big mistake.

Very.

What is this mistake?

Me.

They hated me, despised me, raped me.

All because of something I can’t even remember.

Well, humanity, you got your wish. I am the demon you always made me out to be.

Your loss.

...

Stupid ningins.

[five years ago; borders of the Fire Country]

Thirteen year old Uchiha Itachi scrutinized the boy in front of him. This was his opponent? Destiny couldn’t be serious. Had he been someone else he would have laughed his ass off, but he wasn’t so that’s another story.

Sandy blonde hair, spiked in random directions fell upon the side of his, almost covering it completely. Blue eyes that bordered on violet. The whisker scars were new, but he didn’t dwell on that. All he wore was a scruffy old cloak, looking as though it had once seen better days, nothing spectacular. What caught his attention though, was the forehead protector, or rather, lack thereof it.

He wasn’t even a missing-nin, he nearly snorted, but the fact that looks could be deceiving kept his guard up. Not that anyone would able to do so, but better safe than sorry. Besides, there was something impossibly disturbing about those eyes...

His opponent, as though oblivious to the obvious death-trap before him, grinned, closing both eyes in a friendly manner. His thoughts were on a different wave-line, like: ‘Will this guy be a challenge?’ ‘He’s strong for his age, this should be fun!’ and of course, ‘ Damn, hope I don’t have to kill him, I’ve never met anyone this strong!’ Yes, Naruto could be a dopey idiot at times, but that was part of his charm.

Heh, enough thinking, it was time to play!

“ Game Start.” Those words had been Itachi’s only warning, before Holy Hell itself lunged at him.

To say the fight had been difficult would have been the understatement of the century. Naruto didn’t have as much of a defense as Itachi’s, but his sheer about of stamina was overwhelming for the Uchiha prodigy.

The entire fight had been fast and furious, death-blows exchanged with death-blows, though Naruto’s hadn’t been aimed to kill on first hit, Hell, he was having a ton of fun! Itachi, however, was trying to keep up with his opponents insane stamina.

Tsukuyomi(1) had been completely useless on the boy, he somehow repelled it with an optical blast of chakra, back at Itachi himself. That in itself wasn’t so bad, though it shocked him for a few vital moments. That was all Naruto needed, before slamming into the Uchiha prodigy in the gut with Rasengan, though he had a tiny bit of chakra left, that last blow had mostly drained him.

Itachi fell to his knee’s, coughing out a rather unhealthy looking amount of blood, his mind swimming in disbelief. This... this kid had beaten him? Despite that they were the same age, the boy had an impossible amount of chakra and stamina, seemingly unlimited.

He looked up, one eye shut, small scratches that had been unnoticed at first were now bleeding. The boy, to his credit, looked pretty bad as well, but he was still standing.

That is not possible, Tsukuyomi should have worked on him, how was it possible he deflected it? He thought to himself in disbelief. Hell, where the blonde should have been dead, he was standing up and still grinning like an idiot, though to Itachi’s credit he was wavering slightly. Good to know he at least got some good hits in.

However, when Itachi raised his head a little higher to see the blonde’s eyes, time seemed to stand still.

Blood red Sharingan eyes met crimson orbs, with a black slit pupil bisecting each eye. These were not the eyes of a human, but a demon.

The eyes quickly changed back to melancholic cobalt blue, still bordering on purple. A caged demon, Itachi corrected himself. This demon was held in a cage with invisible bars and unbreakable locks, and it wanted out.

Badly.

So it still surprised him to no end when the boy walked over to him and picked him up, almost throwing him onto his back. Both arms were over the boys shoulders, and he supported most of the weight with both of his own hands.

Despite this, and obviously being injured, he walked in a direction away from the leaf village, Itachi noted dully.

He was far too tired and confused to think of anything to say, the only words coming out of his mouth being. “ Why...?” weakly, he mentally berated himself from being so weak.

The blonde smirked, though Itachi couldn’t see it.

“ Your fun to battle with, I haven’t had a good fight like that in over eight years. So why would I kill such a strong sparring partner?”

Itachi took this information and packed it away in the confines of his mind, still tired from the battle.

The blonde spoke again. “ Oi, My name’s Uzumaki Naruto, what’s your?”

Itachi blinked weakly, still heavily drained, thus he didn’t react at first, but slowly said, “ Uchiha... Uchiha Itachi...”

Naruto smiled, once again oblivious to the wounds he had sustained within his fight with Itachi, made evident by the blood dripping down from his scalp. The bloodied duo continued till they found a rest stop.

Damn, Fate and Destiny must have been laughing their asses off by now.

[thirteen years ago; area unknown]

Blue unblinking eyes stared out into a never ending street, peering softly from under a mop of light blonde locks.

The child couldn’t have been more than five years of age, his clothing ripped and bloody in various places, he also wore no shoes. It was rather obvious he was an orphan, what else could he be?

It was also raining.

Predictably, it was very cold.

Yet, he just stood there, blind, deaf, and mute to the world around him.

He stood there for at least an hour, it was amazing he hadn’t died of hypothermia yet.

...

More time passed.

A young man who could have easily been mistaken for a woman walked out from a corner, it was possible with the knee length black-violet locks of his, long dark bangs covering his eye from the world. He as well didn’t have anything to protect him from the freezing rain. It was as if he didn’t care at all.

He didn’t.

He wore a violet kimono, though it was very thin and stuck to his skin in the wet rain. Long sleeves pushed away his bangs, to see the five years old standing alone in the street corner, noticing him for the first time.

His eyes blinked, a rather disturbing shade of dark violet, a slit pupil bisecting each amethyst orb. He had not seemed to expect the child standing in the rain by himself. He looked at the lonely street corner, before making up his mind.

Naruto had been surprised when he no longer felt the onslaught of water droplets upon his skin. Looking up, his blue orbs met slit violet orbs. The long haired man was standing next to him, one arm raised above his head, the long durable material of the sleeve at a certain angle just so that the rain wouldn’t touch him.

The teen had a slightly bemused look upon his face. “ Are you going to stand here all day staring at rain? Someone you can’t help is crying right now, let them be. Besides, as far you should care, rain is rain, there’s nothing special about it, it’s just water.” He smiled, he spoke in a voice that could have been either female or male, bizarrely enough.

Naruto actually blinked, the first motion he had done all day, “ Crying?”

The older boy nodded, “ Someone is crying, I really don’t know who it is, but they are weeping for a loved one...” He paused, “ Don’t take my word for it, though, it’s just some shit I heard years ago.” He shrugged.

He ran a hand with abnormally long nails gently through Naruto’s soft hair, ruffling it slightly. “ Kid, what’s your name? You can call me Kanshiki.”

Naruto continued to scrutinize the dark haired teen who seemed older than his looks.

“ Naruto.”

[twelve years ago; area unknown]

“ Kanshiki-sensei?”

Kanshiki looked up from his manga, eyes falling on Naruto, who was seated in the corner, trying to read something off a scroll. “ Yeah, kid?”

Naruto thought about what he was going to say, thinking back to when Kanshiki had taken him in. The bizarre demon was... well, he was ‘unique’, if you could call it that... But nonetheless, he had taken him in and cared for him, asking for nothing but a simple companion in return. He was very strong, but his strength was rather pitiful when compared to his speed.

Very much so.

“ Where did you get this scroll?”

Kanshiki blinked, before pointing to the old and ratty piece of parchment in the child’s grasp. “ You mean that?”

Naruto nodded.

His sensei leaned back, tapping one finger to his forehead. “ Hmm...”

Naruto leaned forward, scroll momentarily forgotten. “ Yeah?”

The elder demon closed his eyes for one second, then open them again. “ I can’t remember.”

Thump. The sound of Naruto falling flat on his face momentarily caught Kanshiki’s amusement.

“ Well, not exactly. Some Shinobi left them here a few years ago, he didn’t want some bastard to steal them or something like that, can’t remember exactly... But, he said that if someone was willing to learn them without evil intentions, I was free to teach them.” he finished, before adding, “ I never learned his name, but you remind me of him to some extent.” he shrugged, trailing off.

He silently got up, before towering over Naruto with his tall but seemingly fragile frame, his face darkening in a scarey but playful sort of way.

“ But of course, you would never do that, right, baka deshi?” he sexily queried, leaning into the six year olds face, before being just a few inches away.

Naruto blinked cutely, before answering. “ Of course not, Shishou, why would you say that?” he was still oblivious, despite living with the older demon for over a year.

Kanshiki felt like smashing his head into the wall.

Various times.

This happened a lot, so no surprise.

[Three years ago, Stone Country]

“ O-kay, I-chan, you want me to what?” Naruto asked, twiddling a finger in his ear. Itachi didn’t even bother to correct the fox on his current ‘nickname of the week’, it would cause more trouble than peace.

Itachi heaved a sigh, it was difficult getting Naruto to cooperate, but getting him listen was a different story completely.

“ Look, Foxy, and as much as I know I ‘ll be regretting this for sometime, I’ll be blunt: I need your help.”

He allowed the words to sink in, dreading what was about to occur.

He watched the pondering look on the foxes visage. From pondering, to amusement, then to eagerness.

He started to rub his temple, muttering. “ I must be insane to be asking you this, and you must be even more insane for being my friend...” What he had momentarily forgotten, though, was Naruto’s excellent hearing.

He was in Itachi’s face within half a second.

“ Ita-chi-kun...” he started in singsong voice, pointing his index finger in the Uchiha’s face.

Oh shit...

“... I am not insane...”

Poke.

“... I am paranoid...”

Prod.

“...Put up a facade...”

Pinch.

“...and am a little mentally unstable...”

Grope.

Slap. “ Touch me there again and you’ll find yourself missing everything below the waist.”

Okay, so Naruto had picked up some Kanshiki’s less... desirable habits, but it was the thought that counts, right? Right?

Okay, so maybe not...

“ You still hate me for breaking your favorite reading glasses, don’t you? Forget that, but I assure you, Ita-chan, I am not insane.” he finished, the red mark on his face visibly throbbing pink.

‘ Why does that still bother me?’ Ita-chan- er, I mean, Itachi thought to himself. “ So you agree?”

He nodded back, whiskers shifting slightly. “ Heaven help me, I’ll do it. What is it?”

He slapped his face. “ I already told you, infiltrate the village tower, steal the scroll, and set the explosives when your done.”

A dotty look was his answer, and an ocean sweet drop rolled off Itachi’s head.

“ Nan...?”

“ Let me rephrase that for you: Tall building go boom.”

“ Oooh...”

Silence.

“ And, again, why do you need my help?”

A cough. “ I have to, uh... check on something...”

Naruto nodded, completely understanding. “ I see, your going to go to those molestation sessions you and your lover have, right?”(1)

Cause-and-Effect, instantaneous results.

Smash.

Naruto twitched from under the large rock Itachi had planted on his face, okay, apparently even the human iceberg got embarrassed sometimes. Of course, this only happened when Naruto or one other select person was around.

Naruto darkly retorted, still trying attempting to get out from under the huge stone. He coughed.

“ Hey, you know what? You hit like a girl, and you’ve even got righteous feminine fury backing you up. Hell, you don’t even punch, you slap. Is this a side effect from being the girl in the relationship?” he queried, rather commendable, considering the rock on him.

Itachi was walking away when he heard this, and had already formed a rather large anger vein above his head. He turned his back again to Naruto, neck craned to the fox.

“ Oh, and another thing, Foxy, those scrolls are sacred, they were blessed by Midoriko the Miko herself.” He stated cooly, as if to spite the kitsune, which it did.

A lot.

Silence.

“....”

End Chapter

I actually wanted to make this longer, but I seem to be swaying to the past way too much, but next chapter will be in the present.

1] I’ve dropped one hint as to who this is, and it’s NOT Orochimaru.

Now that I look back at it, it seems more to be a comedic chapter than anything lese, but I hope that cleared up any confusion you had.
