The Awakening
Far from the peace, in the darkness of one of the ancient Sith temples on Korriban, a figure stirred. His eyes opened slowly and revealed an inner self twisted by the Dark Side. Shaking off the many millennia of restless death, he rose from his sarcophagus. Closing his eyes, he took a step away from his eternal resting place. However, only his spirit actually moved. Once his spirit was separate and away from his body, his body crumbled away into nothing. The figure opened his eyes again and took in his surroundings. The bodies of the recent dead littered the room. Some were Jedi, some were Sith. The figure raised a hand and the very essence of the Force from all the dead Jedi and Sith escaped their bodies in the form of a fine glowing mist. The mist crept along the floor, encircled the spirit of the ancient Sith, and engulfed him. Slowly, he became more and more solid as the mist gradually faded away into him. When the mist was gone completely, he was whole once more. He breathed in his first lungful of the stale air and, though foul, he found sweetness in it. He was drunk with the energy and power of the Force contained within the very walls of this tomb.
"I am reborn," he said aloud to the Force. His voice held the ominous evil contained within the Dark Side. He raised his hands palms up in front of him in a grand gesture. As he did, all of the lightsabers from all of the dead Jedi and Sith floated into the air, formed a circle about him, and came to life. The circle spun about him slowly as he considered each and every one of them. A cruel smile formed on his face as he listened to the Force and learned everything there was to know about the history of all the lightsabers that were before him, most especially who their former owners were and the lives they had taken. Whenever he found a lightsaber that piqued his interest, he would pluck it from the circle, retract its blade, and attach it to his belt. When he was done, he let those he had not chosen fall harmlessly to the ground. With a powerful stride, he walked out from his tomb and into the open air of Korriban. "Let it begin, again." With that, he looked to the stars and focused his mind on people and events far from Korriban.
Back inside the inner chamber, all the bodies and all the lightsabers that were not chosen burst into flames and were totally consumed.
