Washing away the present

But never ridding me from my past

Reminding me of things that linger

And of things that didn't last

Reminding me of hopes I knew

Of dreams that came to be

Of blessings I held in my hands

That I just didn't see

They say you never realize

What you've loved until it's lost

And if only there was but a way

I'd bring her back at any cost

So rain, I pray you wash the away

The pain that stains my soul

And help me to move on

That I may play a greater role

Help me to protect

And to atone for those I've slain
