"Damn it!" I yelled in frustration while throwing up my hands, "it's useless! BLOODY useless! My damn red hair knotted, again! ARGH!" I screamed, and through my brush into the sink to go on a raging rampage throughout my dorm. "I can't get anything right! Nothing, I look so horrible!" I yelled while picking up a lamp and throwing it against the wall to see it shatter.
"Dude, Ginny, settle down. Stop breaking Lyra's stuff." Abigail informed me while taking my shoulders to refrain me from picking up anymore of her things. After all, Lyra was our third roommate, and she'd probably hex me if she saw her stuff all over the ground in tiny pieces.
Abigail is and always has been my best friend. We met during our first year at Hogwarts for witchcraft and wizardry. Were both in our fifth year and fifteen years old now. If Abigail wasn't my friend I would probably be immensely jealous of her. She has beautiful long brown hair with blond streaks that feel like satin when you touch them. Her skin is also like that of a Mian, golden brown. She has no freckles, and has deep blue eyes that are full of life and exuberance.
I on the other hand, have the trademark of my family. Bright red hair. I also have freckles on my nose that I despise more than anything. I'm paler than pale, which I loathe, because I look like a bloody ghost. My eyes are what I love the most; they're a rich coco brown color. Though I don't where any mascara or eyeliner so they don't stand out.
"Settle down! Your telling me to SETTLE DOWN! NO I WON'T BLOODY SETTLE DOWN!" I yelled heatedly into Abigail's face. "My hair wont unknot, my god, it wont even let me comb through it! But why dose it matter if my hair looks nice and sleek? Why does it matter that your hair is always perfect and mine is. ." I trailed off seeing Abigail's disgusted expression. I quickly added, " I didn't mean that." I drew a great breath and went on, "I mean . . . Hell, I don't even know what I mean anymore. I look in the mirror and I see . . . I see this pale, freckled, knotty red head. And I'm SICK of it. I can't take it!" I bellowed at her once more before I collapsed onto my bed.
"Gin, I'm-" She started but I broke her off just as quick.
"No, don't say you're sorry. Because I'm sorry, I'm sorry for taking this all out on you." I told her as the red started to fade away from my cheeks. "I'm sorry for everything. For breaking your lamp, and for taking all of my emotions out on you. Even for being your friend. I've held you back all these years. And I don't blame you if you want nothing to do with me." I broke down. Right then and there, I started to cry uncontrollably.
"Ginny, where did you ever get the idea that I didn't want to be friends with you. I will always be your friend, even if it means getting yelled at for something I never did." She let me know as she sat on my bed next to me. "Even if you always complain and never once think of anyone else." I smiled a little, but was still crying just as hard. She moved next to me a hugged me, letting my sob's wet her shoulder. "I will never stop being your friend Ginny."
"Thank you." I told her as I started to get up wiping the remainder of tears away form my eyes.
"No prob. What are friends for?" She smiled. "So what's on your mind anyway? Oh wait, before you tell me it has to fit in a ten-minute time period cause were nearly late for breakfast." She explained with yet another smile.
"Nothing. It's not important. It's stupid really." I muttered. Still clearing some lingering tears.
"No. I know there's more that's bothering you, and you still have-" She glanced at her watch to check the time, "you still have about five minutes."
"Fine. It's just that, well," I started looking at my feet. "It's just that no guy ever wants to go out with me. And even if they do, they quickly brake up with me shortly after." I could feel my hot tears start to stream down my face once again. "They always use the same bloody excuses; oh Ginny, I'm sorry but your just cute. That's it, just BLOODY cute! Or the one that really pisses me off is oh Ginny, I can't go out with you you're like a sister to me. God that makes me so mad!" My face was wet once again, but this time with hot tears of anger and resentfulness.
"I'm sure that that's not the case. Not every guy can be that bad." Abigail assured me.
"Yeah you're right. Some guys are worse."
"Ginny you know that's not what I meant. Besides what about Harry? He's nice and you like him." She pointed out.
"Harry?" I asked to make sure I heard her correctly. "Harry! He doesn't even know I'm there."
"That's a lie. He says hi to you every day."
"That's only because I say hi Harry to him first. And also he's looking at Cho while he says it."
"Well I guess you got a point there. I mean, he's always, goggling over her." We both laughed at the sight in our minds.
"I just wish he would notice me sometime. Or even ask me out."
"I think you'll have to delay that day dream, we went over our five minutes." She informed me.
"Shit, you're kidding? This'll be the second day were late."
We ran down the girl's stairs and out through the common room, stopping at the fat lady's hole to make sure that no lingering prefects were still aobut. We started running down the wide and silent corridors when a thought hit me, "shit, I forgot to clean up Lyra's stuff."
"What? Oh it'll be fine just hope she doesn't get back before us."
"But she'll-" I broke of after hitting someone. "oww. Bloody hell, watch where you're going." Abigail's mouth was gapping, she new exactly who I had hit. Though I had to learn it the hard way. It was a boy, a boy with sleek blond hair. And cold gray eyes. Oh shit! I thought to myself. I ran into Malfoy!
"Watch where I'm going? You're the one that flew into me!" He roared.
"Oh shut up Malfoy." I retorted. "It was your fault." I told him as I opened the door into the Great Hall. I had planted one foot and was just about to close the door behind me when Malfoy came slithering through it. Abigail still standing at my side suggested we shut it in his face.
"My fault? No I think it was entirely your fault weasel." He alleged with a smirk while bringing up his voice. I looked around and noticed that nearly half of the student body was listing to us. "Oh, and I think there's a wild beast on top of your head, wait, no never mind that's just what you would like to call hair." He added gleefully.
"HUH" I was speechless. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Ron walk up. And by now I was sure that the whole school was watching us, except the teachers of course.
"Leave her alone Malfoy." Ron advised him.
"Oh look, your big brother has come to save you. What's next the famous Harry potter?" He said sarcastically, while the entire slytherin table broke out into laughter. I could start to feel myself tear up, and tried to hide it by looking up. Apparently it had worked because neither Malfoy, Ron, nor Abigail noticed.
"Fine Weasley, but if you ever bump into me again, don't consider yourself so lucky." He concluded and waked to his table.
"Are you okay?" Ron asked me.
"Yeah. I'm fine." We walked to the Gryfindor table. Slowly but surly everybody started to turn back to there food and forget what had just taken place.
"Hay Harry." I whispered, while looking at his deep beautiful green eyes.
"What? Sorry, what did you say?" He asked me after coming out of a trance from starring at Cho. He was looking at me now.
"I said 'HEY HARRY'!" I yelled at him. "God you're so incompetent. You're like a bloody APE! All you do is sit there and-" I was broken off by Abby who whispering to me, "Gin, you're attracting attention to yourself. People are looking."
"Screw the damn people!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. The teachers still did not notice that I had been yelling, they were to busy talking to each other and checking things. Turning back to Harry, I said, " All you do is sit there and watch "Cho's every move, never wanting to miss a single thing!" Cho blushed. "I can't take it anymore! I just cant!" I yelled once more at him. After slamming my fist on to the table and disturbing several people, I stormed out.
"What did I do?" He asked Ron.
"Oh I bet she's going to her mommy." Malfoy's voice rose above all other murmurs.
"honestly, you should have been able to notice." Abby confronted Harry. "I better go see how she is." And with that she left at full speed to find me. I of coarse was already in the dorm pacing with my hands covering my face to suppress the tears.
"Ginny, you okay?" She asked me.
"Do I look okay?" I retorted.
"Right sorry."
"It's okay. I just wish I could change my appearance. I wish I could change everything about me."
"Well actually. You can, sort of." I looked at her eagerly.
