Chapter 4

Ken glanced around his room, wondering how he had gotten there in the first place. He didn't remember the trip home, or even entering his room. Ken groaned in annoyance. He didn't have any clue what was going on, and was becoming worried about his current problem. Losing time was never a good thing. At first, it didn't seem like such a big deal, but now that it was happening frequently, he knew he had to do something, or at least tell someone.

Minomon watched as Ken paced the room before finally speaking up," Is something wrong, Ken?"

" I haven't a clue, Minomon," Ken admitted," but there is defiantly something going on with me."

" Why would you think that?" the small digimon asked.

At first, Ken was hesitant to tell Minomon about his lost time, but he knew he could trust his digimon partner. Ken asked," Do you promise you won't tell anyone?"

Minomon knew that he would be digging himself into a deep hole that he would most likely have trouble getting out of by agreeing not to tell anyone, but he was loyal to Ken and said," I promise not to tell anyone."

" Okay," Ken sighed." I've been having these black outs lately. I'm not sure what's causing it. One minute I'd be in one place, and then suddenly I'm in a completely different place and three hours have passed. It's not exactly three hours, it's different every time, but I think you get the point."

" You do seem to be acting differently at times. Especially at that soccer game," Minomon said.

" Yes! The soccer game, I blacked out there too," Ken explained." I don't remember hurting Matt."

" Ken, I still promise not to tell anyone, but I really think that you should tell the rest of the digidestine. They can help you," Minomon said.

" No, at least not yet. I'd rather not have everyone thinking I've gone insane," Ken said, shaking his head.

" They won't think that, Ken. They'll want to help you with this," Minomon tried to reason with the nervous boy.

" I don't know. It doesn't seem too serious. Besides that incident with Matt, nothing bad has really happened," Ken said, trying to reassure himself.

" But what if it does get too serious, Ken? What if something really bad does happen because of this? Wouldn't it be better to stop this while it's not too bad?" Minomon asked.

Ken sighed as he sat down on the computer chair and said," We won't say anything now, but if it does get really bad, then it's okay for us to tell everyone. Okay?"

" Okay," Minomon reluctantly agreed.

" Good," Ken said with a smile." Let's go to the digital world now. We should be meeting up everyone there."

Minomon decided to put this problem on hold for now, and focus on the task at hand: destroying more control spires. Ken held his black Digivice up the computer screen and quickly felt the familiar sensation that one got when traveling to the digital world. He arrived in the digital world with the now-evolved Wormmon. He turned to his digimon partner and was met with an odd stare.

" What is it?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

" It's just..." Wormmon trailed off.

" Well?"

" Look at what you're wearing," the small worm digimon said.

Ken looked down to find himself clad head to toe in black, well, partially. He was wearing a navy blue shirt under his long black coat. He took off a pair of glasses that, oddly enough, resembled the ones he once wore while he was conquering the digital world and after a confused glance at them, tossed them aside.

" As if I didn't have enough weird shit going on in my life as it is," he murmured to himself.

Meanwhile, within Ken's mind, the Kaiser grumbled in annoyance," So much for remaining inconspicuous."

It was at this time that the rest of the digidestine decided to show up. Davis stared at him and finally asked in amusement," What's with the new look?"

" I guess I felt like a change," Ken stated simply.

Davis seemed to accept the excuse and said," Come on, let's go clear out some control spires."

Everyone held up their digivices and their digital partners simultaneously evolved. They all headed off in different directions, calling out attacks and destroying every spire in site. While they were all doing this, the Kaiser stood in his 'soul room' with a look of horror on his face. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. All his beautiful creations were being destroyed right before his eyes and since he wanted to keep a low profile for as long as he could, he couldn't do a damn thing to stop it. Of course he expected this kind of behavior from the digidestine, but from his other half?!

" They've corrupted his mind with all their goody two-shoe ideas," he growled quietly to himself.

He looked out at the digital through his other half's eyes. Everything was cheerful and peaceful. There was no action except for the destruction of his wonderful control spires, and he could hardly call that action.

" Where's the battles? What happened to all the excitement and the thrill of fighting your enemy? This place has grown far too dull without me there," he said. " Looks like I'll just have to fix that..."

The rest of the day went by without any more incidents and just when Ken thought things were looking up for him, the familiar sleepy feeling that was becoming quite an annoyance overcame him just as he was heading back to the television to go home. Before he knew it, he blacked out.

" Oh, damn. I forgot something back by the control spires. I'll see you guys later," the Kaiser said to his kindness' friends.

" Alright, bye Ken," Davis said as they all waved goodbye before disappearing into the TV with their digimon at their sides.

" What did you forget Ken?" Wormmon asked curiously.

The Kaiser ignored his digimon's question and said," You know, Wormmon, you've been by my side during the good times and the bad times ever since we've met. Even through the times when I had my morals a little mixed up and was on the wrong side."

" Of course, Ken. I'd do anything for you," Wormmon said, although he was confused as to why 'Ken' was talking this way.

" I know, and that's why it makes doing this so much harder," the Kaiser said as he pulled out the necklace from under his navy blue shirt.

Before Wormmon could even question what his human partner meant by this, the necklace that the Kaiser was holding up before him glowed an angry red.

" You're not Ken, are you?" Wormmon gasped before he was blinded by the red glow.

Suddenly all thoughts of right and wrong disappeared. Everything he saw had a red tinge to it and he was filled with a great rage unlike anything he's ever experienced before. No logical thought could penetrate the red haze that clouded his judgment. He craved for violence, longed to hear the terrified screams of another, and he would do anything to get what he wanted.

The Kaiser watched with great amusement as Wormmon's eyes glowed red. Now that he had Wormmon on his side as well as Ken's side, things would be much easier. He walked over the pair of glasses that Ken had previously discarded and picked them up, brushing them off on his shirt.

" It's time to shake things up a bit," he said as he placed the glasses on his face.
