Author of 36 Stories |
Though I dont believe in lengthy author notes, except for reviewer response, four quick things before the story starts. First, this story is set in real-time, over the span of twenty-four hours. The first chapter starts at 8:00 PM on October 16, 1996, and the 24th chapter ends at 8:00 PM on October 17, 1996. Second, despite any similarities of characters, events, locations, etcetra from any of my other fics, this fic is separate from all my other fanfiction. There will be references and cameos from movies, TV shows, and more, and anyone who mentions one in a review is rewarded. Third, one of the categories is Suspense for a reason, there will be a lot of cliffhangers. Since I plan to update with a new chapter once a week, youll have to spend a week agonizing over a plot twist. Be prepared.
Fourth, about reviews. They truly mean everything. I would rather get a flame saying you hated everything about the story then no review. No review basically means it wasnt even worth commenting on. However, a positive review or constructive criticism can tell me what is liked and
disliked, and your opinion truly matters. Also, as I said, plot twists are plentiful. If you have a question or prediction, leave it in a review.
Oh, Im actually a major Bellatrix fan. If you dont hate her now, though, you probably will by halfway through the first chapter.
Enjoy the story!
8:00:00 PM, Quidditch Pitch
"YES!" The victorious cry of Ron Weasley was not for no reason. He had finally managed to block the Red Pin, one of the most dangerous Chaser attacks. His sister, Ginny, and the assistant captain of the team, Katie Bell, were looking at their Keeper in reverence.
"There is no way well lose to Slytherin next weekend!" Katies enthusiasm all seemed to be shared by the other players. Harry flew over, eyes focused in concentration.
"We cant underestimate them. Malfoy put together a good team. We need to beat them, or well start at a massive disadvantage for the Quidditch Cup. Come on, we have to head in."
Many of the team members looked at the Boy-Who-Lived in surprise, not knowing why their captain was ending practice so early. Only Ron and Ginny knew why, and they flew off to the changing rooms. As Harry headed there himself, he didnt hear the talking of his teammates, but only a maniacal chuckle...
8:01:15 PM, Astronomy Tower
Kingsley Shacklebolt and Alastor Moody both slowly descended onto the Astronomy Tower, keeping a firm grip on their brooms. Dumbledore had scheduled an emergency meeting of the Order of the Phoenix, saying that further details would be provided upon arrival. As the two Order members put their brooms down, they heard a loud crash down the hallway, followed by cursing. Knowing perfectly well who it was, they waited patiently until Nymphadora Tonks opened the door and went outside.
"...stupid candlestick holders, oh, Kingsley, good to see you. Dumbledore didnt expect you two so early." Her unspoken question was answered by Moody.
"There is no such thing as early! There is late! Too late to stop something! We left early, and doubled back twice to see if we were being followed. Everyone should practice constant vigilance!"
The two Aurors shook their heads. Though being cautious in times of war was definitely important, it could easily be taken too far, especially with morale being subdued by Voldemorts last attack. The Dark Lord had sent a squad of deatheaters to hospital only three days ago. There had been many casualties sustained, but every single Order member knew the worst. Bellatrix Lestrange, the leader of the group, had broken into the childrens ward. By the time the Ministry forces had pushed the troops of Voldemort back, Bellatrix had already used the Cruciatus curse on four helpless kids.
As the memory of the attack returned to the female Metamorphagus, she felt an uncharacteristic feeling of rage. Bellatrix had always been cruel, but now she was merciless. This change had seemed to come about when Snape had reported that Bellatrix was now the unofficial second-in-command of the Dark Lord. Since that had happened, there had been three attacks, all which had been led by Bellatrix, and all three of which had resulted in torture and death.
"We should go to the headmasters office. If everyone else has arrived, we may be able to start the meeting early." Tonks and Moody both agreed with Kingsley, and the three left towards Dumbledores office.
8:04:06 PM, The Homestead
All he could see was the darkness, the chaos...the Omega ignored the crowds, the partygoers...all he could feel were his memories..."Number three. I've been waiting for you." The Death Eater looked around, confusion in his eyes...the Omega smirked.
"Did you really think you were going to get away?" The room was dark, filled with shadows, lit only by torchlight. The dark figure in the corner snapped his fingers, and the door slammed shut.
The dark wizard began to back away...the Omega could sense fear in his eyes...he grinned...it was time...
"Vengeance is mine. You know what you did. Disgusting."
"Wha...what about you?" The Death Eater was desperately feeling for his wand. "What...what your hitman did to the first one..."
"Haven''t you ever seen a Muggle movie?" The Omega's smirk was cold. "The black guy always goes first." The Omega stepped into the torchlight, and the Death Eater could see a body of freakish mutation...red arms, blue eyes, black chest...all fur...
"Morph spells...but...you're too young...no one has the funds...not even your family..."
"Money may not be able to buy you happiness, my friend," the Omega aimed a dark handgun, "but it can definitely buy you revenge."
It wasn't wrong...he hadn't been himself...there had been...but no. They deserved it. For what they had done...for what she had done...
A loud scream of terror split through the silence. The young boy gave a tense as he desperately tried to think of what the Death Eaters were doing. He had managed to use his morphing talents to defeat enough of them to reach his hiding place, but what good did that do to the ones the leader had caught.
He let his eyes wander over the scene. Two five-year-old girls were bound by magical ropes, their eyes opened wide in terror. Eight Death Eaters stood around them as guards, laughing. One stood directly in the middle, wand extended at the innocent children.
"CRUCIO!" The boy shut his eyes, desperately trying to drown out the screaming of the girl below. Nothing could stop it, though. The tears were all there, the screaming went on and on...
At last, it stopped. Then, he heard the voice of the torturer, a sadistic sound that seemed to turn the heart to solid ice.
"We know youre father is the operator of this tower. Where is the key to the security vault?"
The two little girls huddled together, terrified. Then, one of the Death Eaters stepped forward, whispering something into the ear of the torturer.
"Yes, if you both know, we only need one of you. Where is it?" The two girls were too terrified to do anything but huddle together. The crouching figure looked down in horror at what he knew for sure was about to happen...
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" A vicious green jet of light shot directly at one of two. When it was gone, only one of them remained alive. Without a second thought, the self-christened Omega shot out of the hiding place like a thunderbolt. He kicked the first Death Eater he saw with one of his morphed legs, sending him flying through the air. Two more rushed him, and he jumped and used a perfect neck snap, too enraged to be concerned about the consequences. The remaining five guards hurried to the top of the tower, one grabbing the remaining girl, not wanting to risk themselves fighting an unnecessary opponent. The torturer turned first, however. The Omega stared directly into the eyes of the woman who had done the crime, the one with no soul.
As Bellatrix Lestrange turned and ran as well, he prepared to give chase. Before he did, however, he remembered the face of the one who had done this. Someday, he swore, he would make it right.
As he stared into the sky, overtaken by memories, he wondered if today was the day...
8:08:47 PM, Gryffindor Tower
Hermione looked up from her work when she saw Harry, Ron and Ginny enter the room. They saw her sitting beside the fireplace, and walked over.
"Hey. How was your Quidditch practice?" Hermione asked.
"Pretty good," replied Ginny, "Ron is getting really good."
"Congratulations!"
"Thanks, Hermione."
Harry calmly sat in his chair, listening to the talk of his friends, watching the fireplace with an intense curiosity. The only thing the Boy-Who-Lived was really hearing was a cold, triumphant laugh.
"I think Im going up to bed." Harrys three friends looked at him in curiosity.
"Uh, mate, you do know its only eight oclock, right?"
"Yeah, Im tired. See ya." Ginny sprang up and gave Harry a good-night kiss, then he proceeded upstairs to the sixth-year dormitory.
"I will never get used to those two doing that."
"Ron, you should be glad for them."
"Yeah, youre probably right, Hermione."
8:11:19 PM, Headmasters Office
Moody and the two Aurors had already entered Dumbledores office, and the only people who the Order was still waiting for was Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, as they had already known that Remus Lupin wasnt going to be there. After a minute or two of conversation, the two Weasleys entered and took seats near the back of the room. Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, calmly straightened his back and got to his feet.
"Greetings, members of the Order. As you know, Voldemort has stepped up his recent attacks over the next three weeks with the assistance of Bellatrix Lestrange."
At the sound of her name, the assembled Order members all broke into a tirade of dark muttering. Dumbledore allowed this for about fifteen seconds before raising his hands for silence.
"Thank you. However, we have recieved intelligence reports that indicate Voldemort has a major attack planned within the next twenty-four hours."
"What do you mean by major, Dumbledore?" Dumbledore shifted his gaze to Tonks, who had asked the question.
"It will make everything that has happened since the Triwizard Tournament look like nothing."
Dumbledore had definitely dropped a bombshell. The entire room was filled with a symphony of horrified gasps and conversation. Dumbledore walked over to his cabinet and pulled out his pensieve. As the eyes of the Order members turned to their leader, Dumbledore placed the silvery device on top of his desk.
"In case you didnt know, this is a Pensieve. It contains memories that are put into it, and can assist in making connections between different things. There is an informant that may have information on Voldemorts attack. Our Order files are stored here, and I will search these files to attempt to discover the location of this informant. You may go down to the kitchens for something to eat. Return here at 9:30 PM."
As the Order members filed out, Dumbledore gave a slow shake of his head.
8:15:35 PM
Three Death Eaters crouched in an alley, planning in low voices.
"The Order werewolf lives here. He is currently alone. We will arrive silently at this location. Exactly an hour from now, we will strike. The werewolf shall be captured for our Lords new experiment. Any questions?"
The other two Death Eaters shook their heads at their leader.
8:16:03 PM
The self-christened Omega continued to wander the balcony, his eyes giving a look of pity to the celestial bodies overhead. Balls of gas, thats all they are. Like I was in pursuit.
The Omega quickly whipped out his wand, giving chase to the other Death Eaters. One of the more brave, (or foolhardy, in his opinion,) opponents stopped and fired a Body-Bind spell right at the morpher. He calmly jumped over it, already twisting his body to hide the fact that he had removed his wand. He fired a sleeping spell directly at the dark-robed figure, sending him crashing to the floor in a dead faint. He saw the others enter the last elevator upwards, and shoot towards the Glass Floor level. Giving a grin, he decided on an alternate route, and ran over to the staircase. Though the one-hundred-floor staircase would take a very long time for a normal person to climb, the three-hundred-kilometre speed of the blue legs he had chosen to use allowed him to match the elevator. As he jumped out of the staircase, most of the Death Eaters had already taken the staircase to the Observation Tower. However, one remained. The figure turned, and the Omega gave a glare as he saw it was the torturer. With a quick wave of his wand, he cancelled the blue legs, then used a quick whisper of two words to transform his arms. They were instantly covered in a wave of red fur, and the hands of the Omega changed to vicious white gloves with sharp spikes on the edge. With a bestial snarl, the morpher gave a vicious leap towards Bellatrix Lestrange...
As the Omega continued to wander, his eyes began to reflect the starlight.
8:19:57 PM
"Ron! Concentrate!"
"Sorry, Hermione. Im tired!"
"Ron, you have to study for your exams."
"Uh, Hermione, its October."
"These are very important if you want to do good on your NEWTs!"
"Calm down!" Hermione didnt listen to him, and jumped up and started pacing around the room. Then, in a moment of pure stupidity, Ron made what he thought was a completely innocent comment.
"Uh, Hermione! Youre blocking the door to the boys staircase. I want to see if Harry comes back down."
Hermione turned around, and gave him a look that could easily burn through steel and liquify the remains.
"Are you calling me fat?" This seemed to carry through the entire Gryffindor common room, as every single head now turned toward the two famous Gryffindor argument champions.
"Well, maybe if you exercised more..." Every single head gave Ron a look of pity for the wrath he had just invoked upon his own head. Even the animals down in the Common Room seemed to think he was an idiot.
Hermione stalked toward him, moving like a predator. At this point, Ron seemed to realize that maybe he had said something wrong. As Hermione raised her famous hand, the one that had won her acclaim for nailing Draco Malfoy back in her third year, Ron definitely confirmed the suspicion that he had really said something wrong to his best friend. Ron stood up, looking like he was about to run. Unfortunately, before anyone in the common room could even turn their heads away...
WHAM! Hermione gave Ron a vicious dropkick, which actually sent him a foot into the air.
As he rose into the air, his face seemed to shift through several different kinds of pain until he finally hit the ground, clutching his manhood in agony.
Every single male in the Gryffindor Common Room instantly looked away, wincing as if they had been hit themselves. Hermione gave Ron one last glare before stomping out of the room, ignoring his high-pitched noises.
8:22:13 PM
Harry sat in his four-poster bed, his eyes staring fixedly at the ceiling. As he tried to will his thoughts away, they stayed at full-force.
Get him! Save him, hes only just gone through!
Hes gone.
He is not gone!
Hes gone.
Did you love him, little baby Potter?
Did you love him?
Did you love him?
CRUCIO!
CRUCIO!
CRUCIO!
He cursed, jumping out of his bed. He had pondered the possibility for the last three nights, before finally realizing there was only way to make the voices stop, to make that bitch pay for killing Sirius. He had to get her, himself.
He walked to the window, eyes searching over the grounds of Hogwarts. Then, he remembered the one person who must be feeling worse then him right now. Lupin.
He grabbed his Firebolt, running his hands along the edge. As Harry Potter stood there, lost to his thoughts and memories, he prepared to make his choice...
8:26:47 PM
Ginny had returned from her dormitory to find the amusing sight of her brother on the floor, wincing and holding himself. With a devilish smirk, she sat down next to him.
"So, on a scale of one to ten, how much of a moron are you?" Since he had been sitting there for so long, he was able to make his voice into something resembling speech.
"Shut up."
"You really blew it this time, didnt you?"
"Yeah. Over the last few minutes, Ive realized that." Proud that her brother had learned something from his painful ordeal, the youngest Weasley settled herself onto one of the armchairs, watching the flames crackle.
"Well, what are you going to say to her?"
"I dont have a clue."
8:28:03 PM
The Omega gave a sigh as he continued to lose himself to his memories.
The morpher quickly ducked under a Cruciatus curse fired by his opponent, then jumped at her quickly to send her flying back. As her backward stride carried her safely from the first two punches he threw, he was able to nail her in the jaw with a vicious uppercut. She staggered back, her jaw aching in agony, and was nailed with a vicious punch to the gut.
As he saw his opponent clutch over in agony, he felt a victorious rage ensnare his mind. He pointed his wand directly at his enemy.
"CRUCIO!" As the painful curse hit the dark warrior, she gave an agonized scream as she slumped to her knees. The Omega gave a victorious laugh, then quickly rushed in to bring his hands down into her skull...
...but was stopped by the hand of the Death Eater. She quickly took advantage of his surprise to fire a powerful Banishing Spell at the morpher. He flew backwards, skidding across the glass floor. The female death eater aimed her wand at the figure on the ground.
"PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!" She gave a victorious laugh when the spell hit the morpher and he fell to the ground, stiff as a board, unable to move. Bellatrix gave a casual walk over to the morpher, her own eyes gleefully gazing into the hardened glaring slits. Then, she leaned down and planted a soft kiss onto the lips of the morpher. It was nothing more then a touch, but it was a moment that brought an unbridled blast of rage into the prone figure. Giving one last evil smirk, the dark warrior calmly summoned her broom and flew out of the tower, her eyes shining with glee as the unmoving morpher left her vision.
The Omega flew across the tower, jumping up and landing on a weathervane. Focusing the chaos in his body, he split downward with a vicious kick that shot the vane in two.
"BELLATRIX!"
8:32:37 PM
Harry Potter simply stood in the dormitories, his body unmoving except for the hand that rubbed the Firebolt. His eyes shone with a dark fervor as he surveyed his broomstick of choice.
She took him away.
She took him.
She took him.
Hes gone, hes not coming back.
Harry gave a low sigh as he surveyed the broom. Recently, he had come to one conclusion. The only way to avenge his godfather was to bring Bellatrix to justice himself. Just the thought of the bitch chained in the defendants chair, about to receive her reward for a life of cruelty filled the young boy with a determination.
Like you could beat her. She beat you before.
I can do better.
No you cant.
Never.
Hes gone...
"SIRIUS!" The roar of anguish that erupted from the body of the Boy-Who-Lived ballooned outwards like an imaginary tidal wave. As a fresh emerald fire filled the eyes of Harry Potter, he now knew he had no choice.
He briefly contemplated going to his friends, to ask if they could help him out.
Why, so someone else could die for the bloody Boy-Who-Lived?
He decided it was time. He quickly pulled out the Marauders Map from his trunk, then used one of the new features that had been added over the summer. He whipped out his wand, pointing it at the piece of parchment.
"Directo Moony!" The parchment sprung out of his hands, forming into an arrow. The arrow spun quickly around in midair as it attempted to detect the lycanthropic wizard, then stopped pointing due north. Then, a group of numbers appeared, identifying how far away the werewolf was. Harry narrowed his eyes, that would only take an hour or so.
"Reverso." The map restored to his original state, and Harry mounted his Firebolt. Giving one last faithful look around his one true home, he narrowed his eyes and flew out of the tower. It was time.
8:35:25 PM
The Omega gave a laugh of power. A sudden rage had engulfed him, blazing like a firestorm. Today would be the day. He would see her killed, at last, for her crimes.
He remembered the other leads he had chased when hoping to find her and bring his revenge. He had brought the other eight to justice already. One, he had killed that very day after Bellatrix got away, and had probably enraged his foe more as she was forced to return to Azkaban. Two had been captured that day on the Sky Tower. The fourth had explained the mystery of how Bellatrix had been out of Azkaban to lead the operation, when Voldemort had not yet returned and the only dark forces were small fringe sects that operated only a hundred kilometres or so anyway from the Canadian Homestead where he lived. Bellatrix had been switched with a dummy for twenty-four hours using a two-way Portkey, but after the failed attempt she had known it was too dangerous not to return to Azkaban to await the return of the Dark Lord, rather then return to him and realize she could have done the same any time over the last decade. That one had been brought in alive, along with two others. Two of them had died, and the Muggle police had suspected a serial killer, since they had both been found with the Omega symbol burned into their foreheads. Luckily, one of his uncles was an Obliviator, and the entire thing had been covered up. Since they were criminals in the Magical world, there was no problems.
Well, number nine, you think you can beat me? Ive had it with the games, the one dark shadow over every single thing I do. No time for any more games, you wont even get the chance.
The renegade grinned as he looked over the small town below, his own Omega tattoo on his right shoulder glowing as bright as him when he had thought of his nickname.
The black wind begins to blow...
8:38:57 PM
Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, gave a slow, practiced walk around his Pensieve as he watched a meeting between two known Dark supporters. He had viewed three of these meetings recently, none the correct person he was searching for. Thinking it was possible that he could have found the correct one at last, he settled back to watch.
"This is vial three?"
"Yes."
"Ah, Helix will be pleased, the legacy is soon to be complete."
"Assuming payment is recieved, of course..."
8:40:36 PM
Harry calmly flew over the landscape below, his thoughts cleared by the cool rush of air in his face. As his eyes wandered over the fields and forests, his mind was peaceful. Unfortunately, that didnt last, as a rush of thoughts came back to him.
Get him, save him, hes only just gone through!
Ah, did you love him, little baby Potter?
Get out of my head, bitch!
Did you love him? Love him? Love him...
Harry was so engrossed in the rage of his memories that he didnt notice the faint magical aura he was starting to give up, a slight golden glow over his body. Then, the emotion was enough to trigger wandless magic.
He narrowed his eyes as a purple jet of light shot out of the back of his Firebolt. Though the manufacturer of the international racing broom had created it to be the fastest thing alive, he hadnt expected the enraged Boy-Who-Lived to performing wandless magic on it. The speed of the broomstick started to increase.
As the entire Firebolt was covered in a bright purple laser, there was a vicious explosion of violet light and the broom was launched forward as if out of a catapult. Harry could do nothing but hang on as the Firebolt rushed onward at four hundred kilometres an hour.
A Muggle farmer looked upward to see the jet of light blast by. "Damn kids and their fireworks..."
8:43:13 PM
Nymphadora Tonks, Defense against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts, walked calmly through the hallways of the school. Turning a corner, she found herself surrounded by several paintings of food. Calmly walking down the corridor, she reached the enchanted portrait that lead to the kitchens. Calmly climbing through into the kitchens, she was quite pleased that she had managed the entire journey without falling once...
CRASH! The Order member cursed as she flew across the kitchens, stopped only by the leg of the table she hit full force. Cursing, she stood up, angry for embarassing herself in front of the house elves.
"Is Miss wanting anything?" Tonks looked up and saw one of the house elves running towards her. She shook her head.
"No. Wait, maybe a cream cake. If it isnt too much trouble..."
"Nonsense, miss! It is no trouble! Wait here!" Before the Metamorphagus had stood up, three house elves had arrived bearing a tray of cream cakes. Her mouth wide open at the amazing service, she grabbed one and took a bite.
"Thanks! Its delicious!" Her praise caused a joyous outcry among the house elves working in the kitchen. Then, the house elf who had first greeted her approached cautiously.
"Can I have a word, miss?"
"Sure."
"You is an Order member, yes?"
"Yeah. Why, do you need something?"
"Dobby is worried about Harry Potter, yes."
"Who is Dobby?"
"I is Dobby, miss. I is seeing him sometimes, and he is angry about what nasty witch did to his godfather."
"Well, Im not surprised."
"Yes, but I is worried he might try to hurt bad witch."
"Harry is a good wizard."
"Of course! I didnt mean to say otherwise! Bad Dobby!" The house elf ran over to the nearest pan, grabbed it, and started hitting himself with it.
"Stop that! Give me that!"
"I is punishing..."
"You dont have to! You can say what you want, dont worry about it." As Tonks grabbed a second cream cake from the tray, she sunk into thought, wondering if Harry might really try something foolish like that...
Nah, he wouldnt.
8:46:56 PM
The Omega quickly herded the last of the partys guests out the door. He gave a smirk at how easily everyone had fallen for the excuse, and had told his parents he was going to play video games for a while before turning in.
Some people will believe anything!
He smiled as he headed up to the storage room where his fighting gear was kept. He was lucky, he had known for days where to start. Or, rather, who to start with.
His eyes lit up as he pictured the capture of his prey. Jonathan Thomas, a Dark wizard supporter who he had always disliked. Only a week ago, however, he had learned that he was working for Bellatrix. Then, he had managed to convince one of the Aurors he knew to plant a tracker on him. He calmly pulled out the miniature tracker from his pocket, which Muggles called a Global Positioning System device.
Viewing the co-ordinates displayed on the miniature handheld, his brow furrowed. He knew perfectly well where this location was, one of the dirtiest Muggle nightclubs in the area. His uncle, the Obliviator, had been required to go there for an assignment, and he had been disgusted by the place.
Shaking his head at why a respected member of society or a dark supporter would want to go there, he placed the tracker into the pocket of the trenchcoat he had just picked off the floor and opened the supply closet.
He grabbed his wand holster, attaching the device to a clip in his trenchcoat. Then, he pulled out his wand, fingering the twelve-inch yew stick with a phoenix feather inside. Inserting the wand into the holder, he shed most of the other clothing to leave a skintight Auror uniform, then pulled the trenchcoat on over it.
Running a hand through his hand, he prepared his secondary items. The first item was a Hand of Glory, which he put into an outside pocket. He then placed several potions in his inner pocket, the most noted of them a small bottle of Veritaserum and a cordial filled with phoenix tears. Then, he calmly slipped a dark-colored ring with a skull onto his ring finger. He smiled as he surveyed the dark-looking object, which could fill the body of an enemy with a wizarding equivalent of mustard gas in only twenty seconds. Then, the last item, which was seemingly innocent, a wrist bracelet with dulled spikes. However, if the wearer of the bracelet spoke a code word, each spike would shoot out to become about three feet long, and deadly sharp. If that wasnt deadly enough, a second word could fill every spike with a venomous poison.
Then, of course, came the physical upgrade. He calmly removed the wand from the holster, pointing his prized spell-caster at himself and grinning as he used one of his newest discoveries.
"Quadrasonorus." As the yellow beam of light shot down the throat of the Omega, he felt the changes occurring in his vocal chords. He gave a smile as he spoke four different spells at once.
"Morpheus Sonikkuna!" "Morpheus Prowlerchan!" "Morpheus Maheatmas!" "Morpheus Ulifa!"
As the four spells were spoken, most of the body of the Omega began to change. His legs changed from muscular, tanned human legs to compacted but super-strong blue furry legs, ending in red and white shoes. His arms had a crimson bright fur, and ended in hands with spiked fists, one of which still had the Skull Ring attached to it. Twin yellow tails sprouted from the ass of the morpher, spinning in the air of their own accord. The chest turned black, the thick fur serving as a very effective shield from many different spells.
The morpher gave a laugh, surveying his newly changed body. Running a hand through his hair out of habit, his cheerful blue eyes turned into chips of ice. Since he had learned the information, he knew that he could lose again. However, standing here at his best, he couldnt believe he had waited this long. It was on now.
8:51:47 PM
Harry narrowed his eyes, trying to discern the scenery as his Firebolt flew faster then it ever had before. He was able to pick out small flashes below of trees and rivers, but it definitely wasnt enough to determine his location. From his recent mega-boost, he figured he was probably about ten minutes away from Lupin.
As he felt the wind whip through his hair, he noticed that it wasn't a normal flight. His eyes were colder, and he would appear like a falcon to an outsider. Even the superfast flight wasnt enough to drown out the memories.
Get him, save him, he's only just gone through!
Its too late.
Its too late.
Did you love him, little baby Potter?
CRUCIO!
His hands shook as he tried desperately to keep the broom on course. He didnt really know what to do when he found Lupin.
Well, a good ally, hes expendable.
SHUT UP!
I speak the truth, dont I, little baby Potter?
Shaking his head, he attempted to determine what to do when he found Lupin. He only knew one thing.
He had to find her.
8:53:26 PM
Ron Weasley wandered the hallways of Hogwarts. He knew that he would have to return to Gryffindor Tower soon, or risk getting caught out after curfew and losing house points. As he prepared to turn and head back to the dormitory, he saw someone coming. It was Nymphadora Tonks, his DADA teacher.
Tonks shook her head. "Oh, hi, Ron. Do you have a minute?"
Ron gave her a surprised look. "Sure."
The Metamorphagus pondered how she was going to phrase her next question. "Do you think Harry could do anything...drastic to avenge Sirius?"
Ron gave a puzzled look to his professor. "What do you mean?"
"Go after Bellatrix."
Ron was shocked, he hadnt thought of this. "What, Harry couldnt do that!"
Tonks attempted another approach. "How has he been since coming back to Hogwarts?"
Ron thought about it for a second. "Well, hes been depressed, not focusing on Quidditch as much, getting us to help out with the DA more, and hes always reading Defense books and he wont tell us why."
The Metamorphagus hid her surprise. She had expected Harry to tell his friends about the Prophecy, especially since Dumbledore had notified the entire Order. Choosing not to inquire about that, her mind searched for anything.
She settled on another question. "How has he been lately? In the last few days, I mean."
Ron shook his head. "Worse then ever. I caught him awake at four in the morning a couple days ago studying Defence. Hes been doing it every night. It doesnt help that Snape is being a git to him as usual. Oh, for some reason, he headed up to bed early tonight, cut our Quidditch practice short."
The mind of the Metamorphagus scanned over what she had heard, before flinching at two sentences that completely conflicted with each other.
He headed up to bed early tonight.
Hes been up late every night.
Tonks surprised Ron by giving him a startled look. "Why did he go to sleep early instead of studying?"
Ron shrugged. "Probably burnt out. He didnt seem that tired, though."
Tonks bid her student goodbye, then continued her patrol of the corridors. She filed the conversation away in her mind, thinking it could prove important later.
8:56:06 PM
Albus Dumbledore gave a sigh as he continued to observe his Pensieve. He had seen many influential wizards with connections to Bellatrix, but not who he was looking for.
The eyes of the Greatest Wizard in the World narrowed as he surveyed the memory bowl.
Poor Harry.
What, pity for the head pawn of the chess game?
The old man gave a sigh. Lately, he had developed an artificial Tom Riddle in his thoughts. It was the student he had taught, the one that had made his heart hurt when he learned what Lord Voldemort had done on the night of his rising. The conciousness gave him a new perspective on the evil he was facing, though he would definitely rid himself of it if he could.
Except you know Im right.
The Hogwarts headmaster shook his head. He was not right. Harry was a boy, a boy who had the ultimate duel with destiny thrust upon him. That wasnt fair.
Well, why did you leave him in a cupboard for ten years?
To keep him safe!
So, staying at Hogwarts wouldnt be safe? The greatest outpost of the Light?
Dumbledore gave a great sigh as he returned to watching the Pensieve. This time, it wasnt able to quell the dark fire in his mind...

The Omega calmly left the Homestead, heading for his personal parking garage. Muggle transportation would be the best way to reach his destination.
Nymphadora Tonks continued her patrol, unable to push away the nagging doubts in her mind.
Ginny Weasley sat alone in the Common Room, watching the fire, wishing she knew some way to help Harry.
Hermione Granger lay on her bed in the girls dormitories, sobbing quietly.
Ron Weasley returned to the Gryffindor Common Room, finding something strange in what his DADA professor had said.
Harry Potter continued his flight, knowing he was only a few minutes from his destination.

The three Death Eaters crouched in the alleyway, waiting for their signal. Then, the comlink of the leader beeped. He answered it.
"This is Nott."
"It is time. Go get the werewolf. Feel free to have some fun."
"We are going in."
The smile on the face of Bellatrix Lestrange when she put down her comlink would have probably scared even Albus Dumbledore. The two Death Eaters standing in her room actually shivered in anticipation.
As the sadistic grin grew on the face of Bellatrix Lestrange, she thought of the perfect way everything would play out. The ultimate plan of her master.
She laughed.
