A response to the 200 word "Partners" challenge issued by Whipper at the Shield Fanfiction Archive.

Walking up towards the house Claudette glanced at her partner.

"If it's suicide why are we here?"

"He's a cop so they just want to cover themselves."

"Damn it son I hate these."

Entering the house they were ushered into the living room.

He sat on the couch, a gun in one hand, brains, skull fragments and blood sprayed over the wall behind him, a macabre halo.

Claudette frowned and watched her partner pick up the suicide note.

"Why?" She asked.

"His wife left him," He answered. "Mine left me but hey it's not worth that." He gestured at the corpse.

"Is that all?"

"Something about monsters from the past…just babble."

"Well it looks cut and dried, definitely suicide. Damn fool." She sighed.

Strolling out of the house her partner suddenly said,

"I'll miss you Claudette…damn I can't believe you've transferred."

"It's just time for a new challenge…and I'll miss you too son."

Once outside, away from the stench of death, Claudette opened her notebook,

"So what was his name?"

"Um…Wagenbach…Detective Holland Wagenbach, Sunset Division."

"Sad…what a waste."

Reaching the car Claudette smiled at her partner,

"Come on Paul I'll buy you a coffee."
