.Still Life.

He sees her when he looks at me. I know he does. I see the pain in his eyes come pouring over the regret. Regrets for the past and regrets for the future. In that instant I know he will always betray me with her.

The hot spring warms my wind-kissed flesh, and I wade out farther, feeling its warmth rise with each step I take. A pause and the ripples settle. The dark water reflects the full moon and my face like a mirror. I touch my cheek with cool fingers and my reflection does the same. The water is still.

She looks like me. Or is it that I look like her? I don't remember anymore. The same eyes reflecting light, though the light is always different. He sees her when he looks at me, but I wonder...

Does he see me when he looks at her-that girl who is my rebirth?

Nearly everyone hates Kikyou, but I don't. I see her as the truly tragic character that she is, and I remember the way she was before Naraku twisted her emotions around. Kikyou, before, was sad and full of love. I can't help but feel empathy for her. I will ask that you not flame me simply based on character preference. Or at all. I'll be happy to receive positive feedback though! :-D
