Disclaimer:  I don’t own the characters.  Squaresoft does.

Warnings:  Blood.  Violence.  Cursing.  Crazy ideas from kitty.

konekomh’s ramblings:

The idea has been brewing for more than two years and I’ve finally decided to put it into a proper fic and post it.  This is an RPG fic with characters borrowed from FF8.  The settings are somewhat medieval with princes, princesses, thieves and mages etc.

Don’t worry, I try to make the characters stay true to their own selves.  But of course with a completely different setting some things have to be … slightly different =~.^=

Now on with the fic ~~~!!

Children of Fate

Prologue

It was a nice day with the sun gleaming brightly over the city of Esthar.  Ripples danced across fields of flowers with colors of rainbow as the summer breezes gently glided over them.

On the path leading to the royal garden a little prince skipped merrily as his nanny led him on a daily trip to his playground.  There he could meet with his playmates, most of whom being children of duchesses and lords.  His face beamed at the thought of his friends, who never ceased to amuse him one way or another.

All of a sudden, a bunch of chicobos rushed across the prince's path like some headless chickens, acting like a herd of sheep being chased after by some fierce wolves.  Flocks of shrieking birds took off to the quickly darkening sky while the wind grew so much stronger that the prince felt himself slightly lifted off the ground. Dark eerie shadows loomed over the two figures menacingly as the tall trees on both sides of the path seemed to have closed in around them.

"Ayesha?"  The little prince froze on spot and tugged the helm of his escort's sleeve insecurely.  He looked around frantically as the bushes bustled.  Fresh leaves danced madly in the air around the two people and fresh scars appeared whenever sharp edges grazed across soft flesh without mercy.

The toddler tried to hide behind his nanny.  Chills were running through his spine making his head go numb.  Never before in his short life had he experienced such feelings.  Scared to the core the prince pulled his nanny, "Ayesha, let's go back!"

The boy looked up to seek Ayesha's reassurance.  But instead of the warm smile that he was hoping to see, the panicked child was greeted by a headless stub.  The prince froze, eyes wide like a dish he stared at the thin air where the head should have been nanoseconds ago.  Fresh blood was squirting all over his porcelain face from the clean cut across the neck of his escort.

Darkness began to engulf the young child as the merciless leaves cut deep into his defenseless body over and over.  Dropping limply onto the ground the last thing he could decipher was a deafening roar sounding close to his departing consciousness...

TBC...

konekomh’s ramblings (again):

Yeah I know it isn’t telling much from this little post but anyone like / dislike it so far?  Please leave a review upon exit!

Thanks!

p.s. Just for the fun of it, anyone would like to make a guess who’d got to be the prince/princess etc??
