AN: This story is a JoA version of the end of A Guy Thing, so it’s extremely similar to the movie A Guy Thing.
26 year old Luke Girardi stood in front of a mirror in his tuxedo, about to get married to his girl friend of almost 10 years, Glynis.
“Dude, you need to chill.” Friedman said, looking in the mirror beside his best friend.
“I’m trying, I just have this feeling I’m making a mistake.”
“Glynis has been your girlfriend for a long time, dude, you’re not thinking of dumping her on your wedding day, are you?”
“Something just doesn’t feel right, I’m supposed to be happier on my wedding day.”
“Why aren’t you happy, it’s Glynis, you two have been together so long I can’t even remember you guys not dating.”
“That’s because you’re an idiot.”
“If you didn’t love her you wouldn’t be getting married to her.” Friedman said, then he walked out of the room.
“Or maybe I’m just settling for the only thing I know.” Luke said to his reflection.
“Do you, Luke Girardi, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?” the priest asked.
“Huh?” Luke said, snapping away from the alternate universe he was in.
“Do you take this woman as your lawfully wedded wife?” the priest asked again.
“I, uh, I. . .”
“Uh-huh.” Friedman’s voice came, from behind Luke.
The entire church became quiet, wondering why Friedman had that sudden outburst.
“Friedman, what’s wrong with you?” Luke asked.
“I just realized something about someone and it made me say ‘Uh-huh.’”
“Right . . . can this wait for a few more -”
“Dude, you can’t marry Glynis.”
“Why?”
“Because I love her.”
“What?”
“I love you, too.” Glynis said.
Luke turned around and looked at Glynis, his jaw hanging down. “Wait a second, you’re saying you’re in love with someone else on our wedding day?”
“Yeah, she is, sorry, dude.” Friedman said, pushing Luke out of the way and he kissed Glynis.
“Right . . . bye.” Luke said, he turned and walked down the aisle and out of the church.
On the church steps a women with short blonde hair was sitting, staring at the sky.
“Grace?” Luke said, sitting next to her.
“I came- I guess I’m too late.” she said.
“I didn’t get married.”
“Why not?”
“Friedman’s in love with Glynis.”
“Of course they are, nerd boy.”
“Why’d you come here?”
“Joan sent me an invitation.”
“Oh, why weren’t you in there?”
“I don’t know.”
“I didn’t get married.” he said again.
“Yeah, I guess she wasn’t the right one for you.”
“I’ve known for ten years Glynis wasn’t the right one for me. She was kind of my sure thing, she was never was the one I wanted.”
“You wanted to be with someone else?”
“You.”
“Wait you wanted to be with me for the last ten years?”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“Why didn’t you say anything, we could have been together!”
“You wanted to be with me during high school?”
“You tell anyone I’ll kick your ass.”
“Of course you will. Wanna get out of here.”
“Yeah, weddings depress me.”
“Oh, then I guess you’d say no if I proposed to you.”
“Tonight, yes, give it time, horn dog, I might come around.”
Luke and Grace went down the steps and got into a cab, starting their life together.
