Hello, people! I wrote this for English about a month ago, and for some inexplicable reason I've decided to post it (go figure my mind). I actually got good marks for this, why is beyond me. My mum actually found this extremely funny. Oh, and I was mad at her when I wrote it, as you may have guessed.

Disclaimer: Oh come on, there's no way I'd own any of Shakespeare's sonnets. This is just an annoying, innocent little parody.

Sonnet to my mother

Shall I compare thee to a dictator?

Thou art more strict and more demanding.

Tormenting me since days of yore,

As "encouraging" words you with liking fling.

You're such a pain while you scream and chide

How did I manage to survive so long?

How I wish that you would go and hide

And let me watch TV all day long

In the comfort of my room with a view

Without hearing your annoying voice,

And give me some peace and quiet too,

After all, do I have a choice?

Oh, and thanks for every loving admonishing telephone call!

When I think about it, maybe you're not so bad after all.

(with apologies to William Shakespeare)
