Fate Don't Work Alone
Chapter 1
Ron looked at the board, concentrating really hard, he watched the pieces that were left and rumpled his hair before a smile crossed his lips. This sixteen years old boy was the master of chess but as the years had passed by his best friend seemed to have taken in a lot of valuble information about Ron’s possible moves when it came to that game.
‘Knight to C4,’ said Ron smiling as he watched one of his knight beat Harry’s queen into tiny pieces.‘Check mate.’
Harry sighed, he had been so close. But this was Ron that he was playing against, what else could you expect? Harry picked up the pieces of his chessmen and put them back together. Then he smiled and looked up at Ron.
‘Wanna play again?’ he asked his best friend. Ron nodded and put his pieces back together.
‘Sure, if you can stand me beating you again,’ he said. Harry’s smiled grew wider.
‘Then, you’re on,’ he said.
‘OK, you go,’ said Ron. Harry nodded and made his first move.
‘Pawn to D3,’ said Harry, the second game had started.
After another 10 minutes and after Ron’s pieces had destoyed at least half of Harry’s ones, Ron asked something that really surprised Harry.
‘What’s it like to kiss someone?’ he asked. ‘I mean what was it really like when you kissed Cho?’
Harry just looked at Ron, ‘were did that come from?’ he thought. Ron looked at him, they both seemed to have forgotten about the game.
‘So?’ asked Ron. ‘What was it like?’
‘Well,’ said Harry and thought for a second. ‘As I said it was wet, since she had been crying-‘
‘Yeah, I know, but what did it feel like?’ interrupted Ron.
‘Nothing special,’ said Harry. ‘I mean it was a bit strange since I hadn’t done it before and at the time I thought it was great, but now-‘
Ron looked at Harry, waiting for him to continue.
‘What?’ he asked.
‘Now that I think about it, it wasn’t very special, there’s better,’ said Harry and looked back on the board, then he looked back at Ron.
‘Why?’ asked Harry. ‘Thinking about kissing anyone?’
Ron shrugged and looked at someone sitting in an armchair not far from them, reading. Harry smiled, he more than knew who Ron had in mind but he didn’t say anything. Then Ron looked back at Harry.
‘No, not really?’ he answered.
‘Really?’ asked Harry. ‘So just asked it out of the blue? You don’t have anyone particular in mind?’ Ron shook his head.
‘Castle to E5,’ said Ron before he thought of something Harry had said. Harry watched Ron’s castle beat his last pawn to pieces.
‘Harry, you said ‘there’s better’, what did you mean?’ asked Ron and looked at his best friend. ‘You haven’t kissed anyone but Cho, have you?’
Harry pretended to beconcentrating on the game, but he was really just trying to avoid Ron’s eyes. He could feel Ron staring at him.
‘You have!’ shouted Ron. Everyone in the common room looked at them. Ron’s ears turned into a light shade of red and he turned back to Harry and lowered his voice.
‘Who is it?’ he asked. Harry looked up at him and looked at someone sitting in the armchair closest to the fire. She was talking to her friends, laughing and...
‘OH NO!’ shouted Ron. ‘You didn’t!’ Once again the whole common room were looking at them. Harry nodded.
‘I did,’ he said.
‘For Gods’ sake Harry!’ said Ron. ‘She’s my sister!’
‘I know that-‘ started Harry.
‘You.. you kissed my little sister,’ said Ron standing up.
‘Yeah, I did. But come on.. I like her,’ said Harry. Ron sat down again.
‘OK,’ he said grimly. ‘I won’t hurt you, unless you hurt her.’ Harry smiled.
‘So, are you going to do something about the fact that you want to kiss Hermione?’ asked Harry. Ron stared at him.
‘What are you talking about!’ he said. Harry gave him a meaningful look. Ron sighed.
‘I dunno,’ he said.
