Pairing: Kaede Rukawa x Akira Sendoh [RuSen]
Sendoh stared at his koibito in wide-eyed disbelief, his senses stunned and badly jammed by what he just heard. "N-Nani?"
"I'm breaking up with you," came the blunt reply.
The crumbled pieces of heaven and earth finally made it through the labyrinth of spiked-up hair, straight into his head. "You're what?"
"I'm breaking up with you," the poker-faced guy repeated for the third time, looking ready to drill a hollow pole into the other guy's ears should he ask again. Can't he see how much this is hurting me?, was the thought that went slithering through the embittered kitsune's mind.
Apparently, though, Sendoh couldn't see, and instead of leaving those biting words hanging in the wind, he was instantly consumed by the urge to pry some sensible reasons out of his reticent boyfriend's lips. Like that could give him much hope, anyway...
"W-Why?" With welling tears and puppy eyes.
"This... This doesn't feel good anymore." With concealed love and restrained desire.
"W-Why?" The prodding inquiry came in a quiet breath of confusion and fear. "Don't you love me anymore, Kaede?"
Those words lingered in Rukawa's head, haunting every inch of his dying nerves even after seconds of slamming his front door an hairbreadth inch from his crying boyfriend's face.
He didn't want to answer that question. He didn't want to hurt them both with the words struggling to break through the barriers of his fossilized lips.
He had never loved anybody as much as he loved that guy. But there was just so much at stake... So much to lose if they kept insisting on this kind of affair.
This kind of love...
The majority of the public didn't approve of it—but, of course, majority of that public was composed of those dumb fan girls who would rather be with them than see them together. Dense as he was, Rukawa hadn't figured that one out yet.
So it went slinking up his nose. The kind of stares thrown their way everyday lingered in his head... Seared at his ego... Marred and injured his love for that guy...
No matter how much they loved and valued each other, he knew this kind of stigma would get in their way and ruin everything sooner or later.
It had already gotten to his nerves... Who knew when it would begin grating at his beloved?
He took a deep breath and dragged himself to the couch, where he feebly slumped down before fishing a small black box from his pocket.
If it hadn't been for this morning's share of stigmatizing incidents, he would've said something different to his partner. Something he knew the guy had been waiting to hear from him for the longest time.
Something that would've made them both happy and excited...
Will you marry me?, the words were doomed to eternal detention at the very back of his mind... In that certain corner of his being which would forever be filled with grief and regretful thoughts as to how things could turn out if he was only strong enough to ask that question.
If only there's a way to make things right...
The whole room was suddenly flooded by a blinding light radiating from the small black box in the squinting kitsune's hand...

Sendoh kept his aimless meandering through his beloved's neighborhood, all the while staring gravely at the small black box he had just fished out of his pocket.
It had inside it the best yet simplest engagement ring he had ever seen. Its band was made of pure silver with a lone blue-colored gem stud perched proudly and magnificently in the middle. The strange old woman, who had sold it to him at a fairly handsome price, said it was one of a pair and could very well be placed among the world's rarest treasures.
He had wanted to buy the other one, but some other lucky guy had beaten him to it. So he contented himself with just having this one. After all, he could think of only one person in the world who could match up to the ring's hypnotizing beauty.
He knew of only one living jewel who could be placed among the world's rarest treasures...
Too bad he had lost him now... And just when he was about to ask him the most important question he would ever ask anyone in his entire life!
Why would his beloved think too much about what other people might say? He'd have to admit it was starting to get to him as well, but he remained optimistic, and impassive to the rude criticisms directly and indirectly thrown upon them.
But if they really, truly loved each other, could they not use that very affection to pull through this strife? He was willing to be unrelentingly strong to fight, but how much could he do now that his koi had left him all alone in the middle of the battle?
It hurt like hell. Hurt more than pulling a nail off your toe or being bitten by a mongrel in the ass or getting your muscles shot up with a gallon of distilled water...
He might as well be dead since this hurt more than death itself...
If only I can do something...
A blinding light suddenly flashed out from the small black box in the hedgehog's hand. And before he knew it, he was staring up at a floating woman in a flowing white dress, surrounded by an amiable light of divinity.
"Wow," was all he could say, barely aware of the ache he sustained in his butt when he lost his balance and slumped on the ground.
"I can sense a genuine desire in your heart," the strange woman's voice echoed through his head like a soothing wave that pacified all the apprehensions her sudden appearance had drawn out from his heart. "A passionate wish to be with the person you love the most..."
"H—Hey," Sendoh pulled himself up to his feet, standing in his full length and pride before the entity. "You're what? A genie or something? You think you'll get me with this crap of yours?"
There was the barest hint of a smile on the woman's lips. "Funny. That's exactly what the other guy had said to me. Though, I'd have to say you've at least got a more respectful air than that asshole." She slowly descended on the ground to meet the baffled guy's unfaltering gaze levelly. "I'm Enchantra, by the way. The guardian of that ring. I'm here to grant you a wish..."
"A... A wish?" Sendoh asked dubiously, his eyes reverting to the ring gazing up at him from the small black box in his hand.
"Yes, a wish," Enchantra confirmed. "A single irreversible wish..."
"N—Nani?" Obviously, Sendoh's senses still couldn't catch on.
Enchantra sighed impatiently. "You tell me what you wish for, and I'll make it happen. And once I've made it happen, the ring will be gone and there will be no way to retract the spell. You'll have to live with it for the rest of your life. Clear enough?" Humans are such dumbasses!, her mind cried out in exasperation as she looked at the still very stoned and very stunned guy in front of her. "Okay, what is that single thing you want more than anything?"
"To be with my beloved," Sendoh replied eagerly.
"Which, you obviously cannot do since there's bitterness and dejection written all over your face," Enchantra said matter-of-factly. "And this is where I come in. Just tell me what it is exactly that you want me to do in order for your desire to be satisfied. Are there any obstacles to your love that I need to get rid of? Are there anyone who's opposed to your affair that I need to zap off? Just tell me, and it's as good as done, and can never be revoked."
Sendoh was tempted by the last option—about zapping off all those who were opposed to their love—and even nearly wished to turn them all into chocolate chip cookies to give to his prince.
But realizing just in time how perfectly boring the world would be with just him and his beloved, and no one else to whom they could boast and show their exquisitely genuine love affair, he decided to think of a better one.
He'd have to remember that once he made a wish, he'd have to live with it forever...
But, would he not live through anything for his beloved? Anything to make him happy...? Anything to dissolve the shame and apprehension in his heart into the stark, ardent affection that should be harboring it...?
Anything that could make things right for the both of them was fine by him...
And then, it finally came crashing through the labyrinth of spiked-up hair, straight into his head.
"I would like to be... a girl."
Thin, filmy eyebrows rose in utter shock, "You what?"
"Hey, I thought you could do anything!" Sendoh demanded, irritated by the way the woman was staring at him.
"Well, yes. But are you sure?" Enchantra asked incredulously. "You'll be a girl for the rest of your life. Is that what you really want?"
"More than anything," Sendoh replied with unrelenting resolve.
"Well, okay," Enchantra sighed in resignation. She could not help but wonder how many more of these fine young lads would be crazy enough to go through such heights for the sheer foolishness of love. "Close your eyes and count to ten, and it shall happen." She laid her wand on the tip of Sendoh's hair and vanished in the same blinding light that brought her forth, along with the enchanted ring.
And the next thing Akira Sendoh knew, he... or rather shewas running excitedly back to his—her beloved's house to tell him of the good news.
Lo, and imagine her shock when a stunning fine lady with foxy blue eyes opened the door for her.
Both lovers stared at each other in wide-eyed disbelief, their senses stunned and badly jammed by what they were seeing...
