Title: One Fine Evening

Author: Hana Rui

Genre: shounen-ai, humor, song-fic

Pairing: Hisashi Mitsui x Kaede Rukawa [MitRu]

Chances are 'cause I wear a silly grin

The moment you come into view

"Senpai?"

"Hm?"

"Why are you lookin' at me like that?"

"Nothing." He turned and walked away, slightly shaking his head in amused disbelief.

Chances are you think that I'm in love with you

"Hey, Kitsune!" A scathingly familiar voice echoed through the gym. "What's with you wearing your shirt inside out? You lost or something?"

Everybody else looked in his direction and smiled. The same smile that had earlier grazed his Senpai's lips.

"Do'ahou." He blushed and walked away, a tinge of disappointment flitting past his eyes.

Just because my composure sort of slips

The moment that your lips meet mine

"What the-!"

"Sorry, Senpai... I-I slipped-"

One angry fist instantly connected with one flushed poker face.

Chances are you think my heart's your Valentine

One bitterly shocked Kitsune just as instantly drove a retaliating knuckle into the other guy's face.

"Ugh! My... dentures! You, baka!" Spitting out the shattered pieces of his false teeth to the floor, the utterly enraged and now doubly embarrassed Mitsui went for another assault.

The other Shohoku guys, having finally realized what was happening—and about time too—abruptly ran to stop the two rouge-tinted brawlers from killing each other.

In the magic of moonlight…

"S-Senpai..."

"What do you get from following me around?" he snarled. "Have you not given me enough shame already? You—You faggot!"

"Here." Rukawa held out a brand new set of dentures.

Under the silvery glow of moonlight, Mitsui stared at it with a frown. "What am I gonna do with that?"

When I sigh, "Hold me close, dear"

Eat it! He was almost tempted to say to bite the obnoxious guy's head off. But he didn't want to get rough with him again so he went for the simplest, most peaceful route instead. "Wear it." He forced the blasted thing into his Senpai's hand. "I—I'm really sorry." He turned and walked away.

"Wait!"

Chances are you believe the stars that fill the skies are in my eyes

"Sorry for what?"

Rukawa turned around and shot his Senpai a perplexedly questioning frown. "Huh?"

"You're sorry for what?" Mitsui prodded. "For breaking my dentures or for that other thing?"

"What... other thing?"

The older guy stared hard at his kouhai, straight into his blue eyes, which seemed to be mirroring the sky above them. "Don't lie... you big baka."

Guess you feel you'll always be the one and only one for me

"About what... Senpai?" The night suddenly began to feel cold, yet little dribs of sweat were sprouting out of his forehead liberally... and wantonly. Like the warm, numbing feeling that suddenly assaulted his cheeks.

"Huh?" Mitsui frowned in confusion.

"I lie about what?"

Mitsui put his dentures on and sneered, the other guy just looked at him blankly. Poker-faced asshole! Having realized he had no other choice but to act on his impulse, he leaned forward, almost on tiptoes, and...

And if you think you could

Well, chances are your chances are

Blue, kitsune eyes abruptly widened in shock. This... couldn't... be! Was his Senpai kissing him? Under the moonlight, in such an unreserved, passionate way, on that fine Friday evening?

Soft, trembling lips drew back and whispered, "I meant... that... other thing."

"Oh," was all Rukawa was able to say.

"I hope you aren't…"

"What?"

"Sorry… I am not."

"Oh," was all his rusting vocabulary was able to remark the second time, before he plunged his own lips onto his Senpai's.

Does this mean...?

...Awfully good...

"S-Senpai... I—"

"Hisashi."

"Huh?" Rukawa looked confusedly, wistfully into those eyes. Those eyes that were very much like his own...

"Call me Hisashi, Kaede..."

"Oh…okay."

"And I hope you start wearing your shirt the right way, too." Mitsui's lips twisted into a crooked, jeering smile. "I don't want anybody grinning stupidly at you again and... you know... I think..." He began pulling the bewildered kitsune back into the gym. "Let's go fix that right now, shall we?"

"H—Hai..." Rukawa never knew his fossilized poker face could actually blush so furiously until that night.

And boy, was it going to be one long night for the two of them...
