Chapter six – good bye Warwick
A nice day in Las Vegas. But it’s just the sort of day that Warwick would have loved, which made this day even worse.
There’s a knock at the door and Gil is standing there. He looks into Catherine's eyes and see’s that they are red, he looks at her face and sees were the streams of tears have been. “Are you ready?” Gil asks putting his arm out for Catherine to hold. “As I’ll ever be.” Catherine holds his hand and closes the door. They both walk to the car. Gil drives, all the way their Catherine stares out of the window all the way there. Gil thinks quickly to break the silence, “it’s a beautiful day isn’t it.” He looks in hope that he can get something from his favorite CSI. “Yer.” Catherine pours and then breaks into tears, “Warwick would have loved it.”
They get to the church and it’s a beautiful, as much as a funeral can be, service. White lily’s every were. When ever Warwick saw a white lily he would say some thing about hope and life.
At the cemetery, after the body has been lowered Catherine collapses into Gil’s arms, she breaks down into Gils arms and cries into his shirt. “It’s alright. You should show what you feel.” Gil tries to comfort her. He can do this better if the man has just cheated on her not died.
Catherine can’t go to the wake, she decides as she knows that she’ll just break down again. So instead they, Gil and Catherine, go for a walk. They don’t know were but any were.
When they are in a playground some were. Gil questioned Catherine, “when was the last time you slept properly?” “The night you stayed over.” Catherine says while looking down at the floor. “Oh. That was over a week ago. And your back and work tomorrow” Gil says starting to sound worried, “why haven’t you been sleeping?” “I have been having this dream, about the night of the bomb. I remember all of it as though I’m living it there and then.” Catherine breaks into tears again. “Do you want more time off work?” Gil moves over to Catherine to try and stop her from crying. “No. no I need some thing to focus on. But thanks for thinking about me.” Catherine leans into Gils arms. “Okay. Do you want me to take you home, its getting dark?” “That would be nice. But will you stay when we get there?” Catherine looks into Gil’s eyes, with the ones that no human can argue with. “Only if you want me to.” “I do very much.” Catherine smiles as they walk of into the sun setting distance, “I never want you to leave my side.” “Well that’s something I’ll never argue with.” They both turn and look at each other, they look into the other ones blue eyes and they kiss to there heart content.
