Word Play

Disclaimer- Not mine, don’t sure, not worth it. Well you should know the basics of this anyway.

A/N: Okay the title has barely anything to do with the story, unless if you count the bantering between the characters. It’s basically what I did to write the story. I got all my friends to tell me the first words they thought of and made a list. The goal was to include all the words in order and try to have it make sense. The result is a bit silly, but it’s tonnes of fun to write.

Thanks to- Lizz, who gave me almost the entire list of words. Also to Hayley, Philly, Amy, Amanda, Nikki, Chelsea and Siobhan for their contributions. Hope I didn’t miss anyone.

Danny picked the book off the table and looked at the cover. “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?” he called out to Mary who was in the other room.

“Hey, leave it alone, at least I read something apart from car magazines.”

“I can’t read books. It hurts my brain.”

Mary came back into the room, looking at Danny as if he had a screw loose in that cute head of his. “You have a weird sense of humour sometimes, you know.”

“Only for you.”

“Of course.”

“So, good?” Asked Danny, referring to the book.

“Nah, haven’t started it yet.” Danny just looked at her. Then he burst out laughing.

“Do not make fun of me, I have a heart you’ll hurt my feelings.”

“Who me?”

“So are you ready?”

“You’re asking me, who has been sitting here waiting for half an hour, while you get ready?”

“Oh shut up, we’ll be late for Mike’s bash.”

The two headed out the door, pausing to let Mary lock the door. Danny was giving Mary a lift to the thing a Mike’s and to work for the past few days. Her car was in the shop for repairs. She’s run into a bulldog that was stupid enough to try to cross a very busy street, and was still slightly upset about it.

As they climbed into the car, Danny relocated a backpack to the rear seat. Noticing Danny was being secretive about it, Mary asked, “What’s in there?”

“Truffles.” She shot him another look. If he was going to be like that fine. Danny just grinned at her. He was definitely up to something, she thought.

However Danny was thinking along completely different lines. Precisely, how great he thought she looked, especially in that red dress. To distract himself from the object of his affection which seemed to be taking up all of his brainpower. He mentioned something he had heard about recently.

“Did you know that common hippos travel in groups of about forty? Oh, and in Jerusalem-“

“Danny?”

“Yeah?”

“You watch way too much Discovery Channel.”

Mary wondered what was up with her long-time friend today. She’d never seen him like this before. He seemed to be in the strangest mood.

Danny began to focus on his driving, while Mary pondered what was with Danny.
