Two weeks later, Gibbs said to Jack, "A messenger boy came with this."

He held a long skinny box that read:

To: Captain Jack Sparrow

From: Your Secret Admirer

Jack opened the box, and found a length of rope with a loop in it, like a noose. There was a slip of paper in the box as well that read:

The Irish field has withered,

The fine captain met a noose,

When everything is said and done,

The Sparrow I will find.

Post Script: I hope the noose fits.

"Gibbs," said Jack, "this is from J.A. Sperling."

Jack thought it was very ominous for J.A. Sperling to have sent him a noose, but wasn't more worried than any other time he had been sent the verse.
